No faction MIC in most provinces?

Hello all,

I apologise if this was asked before, but I couldn't find it, but it's rather strange - I can only build Roman faction MICs in the provinces I was given at the start, regardless of the type of government they have. In effect, only provinces with Camilian reforms can build faction troops recruiting centers and, consequently, build any faction troops at all.
I don't know if this is normal or not, but I figured I should ask, considering the government descriptions hint otherwise :) I'm about to get Polibyan reforms, so I can report soon-ish if that remedies the situation any.

Also, how much differance is there in terms of Auxilliaries for Allied states?

On a side note, Eulenotroi or whatever is the proper spelling of a faction had two mercenary forces of Polibyan troops in Italy, consisting of skirmishers and a unit of Equites Romani :) I suspect it's a bug :)

Romans can only recruit their main heavy infantry and citizen cavalry from the central Italian provinces.

It makes perfect sense, until Marian reforms, but it could be writted in a description somewhere :)

Could you, or someone else, answer what's the actual differance between, say, Romanized provinces and Allied states in terms of Auxilliaries perhaps? I didn't notice any.. the choices I get with max barracks in Allied Corinth are exactly the same as I get in Italian government (lvl 1 government) Taranto (Levy hoplites, Hellenic archers and Skirmishers, Heavy skirmishers and 'medium' cavalry), and in Allied Carthage the same as in Romanized government in other African provinces (Numidian skirmishers, Skirmisher cavalry and Iberian lancers).

In 0.80 the type of government determines the max level of auxiliary building. As a rule of thumb:

Gov1: faction MIC 5, regional MIC 2
Gov2: faction MIC 4, regional MIC 3
Gov3: faction MIC 3, regional MIC 4
Gov4: faction MIC 2, regional MIC 5

There are exceptions such as the Romani who can only build faction MICs in Gov1 regions until after the Marian reforms.

You may see some modification to the above numbers in 0.81, depending on the faction.

Of course, the issue of recruitment rears its ugly head. In 0.80 just because you can build a high level of regional MIC does not necessarily mean it "gives you more units." For our next major release (ie, after the 0.81 patch) the goal is to (hopefully) cap regional MICs at the highest possible level of recruitable units in the region, but that's far away for the time being.

In theory Camillan units are available in central Italy, Polybians in all of italy in most marian units in all romanized provinces, before that they aren't much different recruitment wise than the the other govs, but you can build more roman buildings and get more money from them than allied govs. Recruitment areas for roman units should be part of their description.

In 0.8 the whole roman recruitment is somewhat buggy, only in 0.81 it will work as described above.

Marian recruitment is still restricted to Italia.

Thanks for the answers (:2thumbsup: ) and yes, the recruiting provinces indeed are the starting part of every Roman units' description (I propose you move it to the bottom.. it looks much nicer that way), but I was a bit puzzled with the non-avaliability recruiting centers :egypt:
Some provinces don't seem to have Auxilliaries at all (Corsica and Sardina, for example).

Another thingy, if I may - I can get Polybian units by upgrading my training centers - what if I had a maxed out training center? Demolish and rebuild? Is it the same with the later reforms?

Unfortunately, you have to tear down your Camilian MIC if you built it to the highest level. The Marian reform MIC is a seperate tier of buildings and the same level you have in a settlement is places in the settlement when the reform occurs. I haven't gotten Imperial reforms, but I believe it is the same deal camilian-polybian and marian-imperial.

Really? In testing the highest level Camillan would improve to the highest level Polybian. I'm not sure what changed between then and now.

I may be wrong. I made sure to not to upgrade my Camilian to the highest level, and I am just paraphrasing what someone else said.

i dont see how you guys build the highest level MICs by that time anyway..is that like your number one priority building?

Do you even get anything out of the high-end Camillian MICs anyway...?
