Got this email fowarded to me, Enjoyed it throughly. I live in an area with a large amount of blacks, and being called a "racist" after being called a "cracker" every five minutes really starts to lose its ironic comedy fast. In my opinion, either drop the subject of race from everything, or allow the equal opportunity for all races to be proud.

See, if the BET's all black people's fault -- even though I sort of half-sure that there might be just as well a few people there on its Chamber of Commerce with skin tones of less than ebony -- then surely the slavery and the KKK is, omg, white people's fault! Because!
I could go on and on about how people nowadays criticize "blacks" of being a bunch of lame gangstas responsible for the infestation of the w- (never mind) in suburban communities while forgetting that many cultural and musical movements -- especially some that are considered distinctively American, like Jazz or even Rock&Roll, originate from, you know, them.
None of your post regards the topic of the thread, congrats.
The topic is the issue that whatever blacks say regarding their own racial pride is considered fine, and encouraged. Yet if a white person has pride for his race: "Omg hes a nazi!"

I completely agree. One black coworker said I could either be called by the name of "boy" or "cracker". I just pointed the name tag on my shirt.

Well, whether right or wrong, the reason for all this is simple. Our white "race" ruled the entire world for a couple of centuries. Or rather, we oppressed the entire world for a couple of centuries. Only europeans have managed that yet.
Another reason, is that the oppression didn't stop a long time ago. South Africa was only a little more than a decade ago. In other countries, like the US you're referring to laws against non-white people ended only some 30 years ago. What is most important here, is that the feelings and attitudes who created those laws still exist. There are still a lot of racists who don't hire anyone but white people.
Because of that, sadly, we need these things.

There is no such thing as counter racism with racism. Affirmative Action was not a harmful racist policy - it was simply an attempt to address racist policies of the past and make an attempt at a correction. Did it work? To a degree it has, however American's being a short term gain people will not allow the correction to continue.
Now the current trend toward racist behavior by many distrubs me. Gangester rappers are just as racist as the complaint of the system that they are protesting in their music.
Imus was a perfect examble of the double standard of racism that has developed in the United States because of political correctness. If a black man calls another black man a foul degrading name for blacks, is he not the same un-educated ignorant racist as the white man.
I once had a state trooper call me "boy" while he was writing me a ticket. I politely informed him that writing a speeding ticket did not entitle him to degrade me as a human being. Edit: There is a sutle lesson in that for any who have experienced a racial or degrading slur directed at them from another. To bad many will miss it.

I do not believe that affirmative action is a terribly useful tool. It confirms the victim status in some of the minority and antagonises the more ignorant of the majority. Positive discrimination is still discrimination and as such institutionalises an emphasis on difference.
