Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
Dear Gang:
Good afternoon from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Guys, I've tried the above cheat at least a couple of times, and I have yet to get it to work. I usually get an error message that says, "Character not found."
What am I doing wrong here? Floor is now open to all suggestions, ideas and vague notions.
Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!
Sincerely yours always,
Indy.
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
character_reset "Firstname Middlename_Lastname" X Y
case sensitive
For characters that "lost" their lastname, continue to use their old lastname (in doubt, look at their wife's lastname) or use their firstname only (might move wrong character though)

Dear Faction Heir:
Good evening from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Methinks you got the wrong you've got the wrong code. I'm looking for help with this one: move_character z x y, y z=name of settlement or unit without title (except Captains). The xy are coordinates.
Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!!
Sincerely yours always,
Indy.
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
Err yes I meant move_character. Thing is it works exactly like character_reset just with the X Y added. Don't know what I was thinking when I typed it, but the rest is actually correct. Try it :)
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
In case you're still confused , and for anyone else who might be confused about it , I'll give the full as_if_you_hadn't_the_first_clue step by step instructions .
First press the ~ {caled tild} key , it should be on the far upper right of the main clustering of keys .
Then find the spot you want the character to teleport to . Place your cursor on that spot {without clicking anything} and type show_cursorstat and press enter .
This will give you the xy coordinates of that possition . The coords will be accompanied by other information , but you only need the two numbers which should look like 32,133 or 68,91 etc .
Now type in move_character "Firstname Prefix_Lastname" xx,yy and press enter .
The character should be moved along with whatever {and whomever} was in his stack .
Now press ~ and rejoyce .
If you wish to banish Inquisitors {who can weaken AI factions alarmingly} try the coords 31,131 to 33,133 . This will strand them in a spot in North Africa that is completely isolated from the entire rest of the map .

Personally, I banish annoying characters (rebels mostly) to the Americas. Coords 10,188 is a good place to drop them off. I've been also using 240,95 to temporarily banish Egyptians, Turks and Imams in my Venice game.
The only problem are the characters whose name changes.

Oh, and you can just click on a character before entering the command and use move_character this ...
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
I don't think 'this' works with move_character.

No , he means the ~Tilde key , which is on the top left of a keyboard, next to 1 .
You must be using one of those strange Tasmanian keyboards that were made from Keyboards too closely related .

tilde is shift+`, and you definitely don't access the console using shift.
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
What do I need to type to move this guy: Shahzadeh Husam-Al-Din ?
Firstname is Husam, don't know about the rest. Bit confusing.
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
Also one thing about "move_character" cheat .. if your character is in a settlement then he(her) wouldn't show on campaign map .. it is like he(she) is invisible :dizzy2:
Couple of times i have "lost" my spies like that :furious3:
Do not remember how did I make them reappear again but they do show up again :inquisitive:
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
Is that a Broken Crescent game Sinan? I think Shahzadeh is a title and Husam-al-din is his first name plus connectors, so you'd still need his pre-title last name to do a teleport.
:egypt:
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
move_character "Husam-Al-Din" (case sensitive)
If that's just his firstname and his lastname is missing, there is a chance it still works, but not always.
Re: Getting the "Move Character" Cheat to Work
not sounding like a rocket scientist here, but Indy, have you got a couple of user names?
The yadda yadda gave it away. :laugh4:
