I feel like im clogging up the forums with questions...sorry!
To the point...
I know a faction dies when it loses all cities/family members but is there a way to change that? I mean making them "horde like" such as in BI, or maybe a protectorate faction with only an army and the "parent" faction could re-supply them, or better yet actually control where the ai would go by making paths...though the AI didnt have to follow said path, etc.

Well I suggest that if you do make a mod on your own, make it a small one. For example, at the moment I am working on my first real mod, called "Creatures of the Night". It is a mod about Vampires, and the only real changes in the game are Traits and Ancillaries made for vampire characters. Don't go for something too big on your first swallow.
Another idea is to join a mod team (I'm part of the Inca: Total War mod team as well). Trying to make your own mod team when you have little modding experience is generally a bad idea. If you join a team, you can better understand how other aspects of modding work, and chances are the people in your team will be happy to help you improve your skills.

You can only make factions horde if you are using the BI.exe, you can run RTW through the BI.exe if you have it and then add hording to RTW factions see the hording topic that just came to surface of scriptorium for some info and other links: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=58385Quote:

Apart from hordes the only other faction that will survive without cities is the Romano_British in BI, that's related to some hard-coding involving their name and the Britain hidden resource, again that is BI specific.
Not convinced any of the rest of it is possible, scripting guys might be able to help....
@SSJVegetaTrunks - that was good advice you gave, and I'm pleased to see you following it with your mod, small but finish-able steps / mods are much better for morale than taking on a huge project and then realising you'll never finish it! :2thumbsup:
There is a way of making armies survive without towns, but I can't remember the details off the top of my head. It envolves telling the game that the campaign is a prologue campaign, prologue campaigns allow armies without cities...

Thanks. Yeah, once I realized how hard modding is, I understood that small steps is the way go. I haven't released any other mods, so the Vampire one will be my first. It makes me feel good, knowing that finishing a small mod is actually in reach! :beam:Quote:

Thanks for all the info about both emergent factions and modding...I have a little experience modding but have never made one by myself...you really made me reconsider!
But mydraal, what do you mean by running it under prolouge mode?
It's the script the game uses for the learner campaign, where you wander around as a sole army untill you capture the city.
