I don't know. You're probably right, but that influence can be used in emergency sessions, so it doesn't necessarily effect congressional sessions at all (beyond that bonus they keep as an ex-consul).

IMO, the best way to roleplay this would be exchanging one unit for a triarii, otherwise that would just be new soldiers arriving. Is that what you're suggesting, or are you just removing the skirmishers from your first proposition? (If the former, you might want to say what you want exchanged.)Quote:

If the units in the triarii came from another unit you already have, then that unit can't stay. They can't clone themselves and be in two places, you know.
Oh right yes, I will happily dispand one of my units
Thanks for the props and the balloon! :laugh4:
I, personally, would say that yes, your Corona Civica should be in there; but I would like to get the opinions of other players re: whether or not we will use in-game awards, our own voted/bestowed awards, or a combination of the two.
The Corona Civica, technically was for non-Commanders (which you were a Tribunus/Legatus at the time, right?) and you really should get an influence boost w/ our PBM game rules/mechanics. So, Let's all discuss it, etc
Additionally, Legati and Tribuni:
Start thinking up which awards you wish to bestow on your premiere units (first ones into the breech, etc). This debate in the Curia re: upgrading units is prime RP ground to reflect them receiving awards and recognition.
Just send me a PM with details, the unit involved, which Legion, the battle location/time etc and I will make up a realistic "Warrant" (which is what we call them in the military) and place it in the Phalerium
I would like to bestow an award on my unit if TCV gives me my Triarii :laugh4:
EDIT: Great Poll Navarro:oops: Ah that's better :2thumbsup:
sorry guys, I will update the library today when i get a chance. Life has been a marathon right now and I am tripping at the finish line. :laugh4:
your life's going to be finished?? Noooooooooooooo :wreck:
Looks like the legislation is all going to be passed, some of which is unfortunate, if the trend keeps up.
I think that perhaps we should look at the Prima Inter Pares / Heres as a less-powerful version of the US President / VP - a sort of "checks and balance" system, if you will.
I certainly don't want the PIP to be "all-powerful" until we have legions/houses to put up a fight against him; but it will help the game flow faster and cause good RP debate / animosity/alliances if he can have slightly more powers than the average Senator - without being a Dictator
@ navarro - I feel your pain, wanting to be in control of the game you created; but I think the monster will have no master :-P
well said. And my plan is to have a checks/balances system. The Princeps and the Promagistrate are simply renowned political members. They are equal in status for the most part. You cant deny the the fact that in Rome regardless of the senate, there was always men who said what was what due to sheer power and popularity. Pompeii and Caesar obviously being the best examples.
But they are not! They are not even near equals, the worst parts are:
Can prioritize a building/12 turns in any settlement, and can steal one retinue/12 turns
Owns one consular legion (what does the PIP have to do with consular legions anyway?)
Can veto one edict or amendment/session (hello!)
Can ban senators from the Curia
Can give the Provincial Governor to anyone he wishes, completely on his own whim
Can automatically take a consular position
How is that "equal in status for the most part"? We, as players, give out popularity to others and the ranks are there for power. There is no need to say "this one guy is popular and powerful, and even if everyone start hating him and join together to defeat him, he'll still be the most popular and powerful".
I say the first mentioned should go completely. Consular legions should obviously only belong to consuls. If anyone should be able to veto, it should be the Plebian tribune and the consuls. If anyone should be banned, it should be the decision of the whole senate, same with PGs. No one should be able to declare himself consul under any circumstances.
I'm disappointed Blasio didn't even care to acknowledge Regvlvs' existence, so I hope you will respond to me, TCV.
I think the two Consuls are perfect for that. The PIP/Heres are just unnecessary, people who wouldn't be there in-game if it wasn't for hardcoded limits anyway.Quote:

Tribunus Tiberius Claudius Marcellus, I very much appreciate your enthusiasm, but do Roman Armies have "Lieutenants" ? :inquisitive:
I'd propose as following:
Commander: Dux Caius Aurelius Cotta
2nd in command: Tribunus Caius Aemilius Mamercus
3rd in command: Tribunus Aulus Aemilius Mamercus
:laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:
Most likely absolutely not. I'll change them in a heartbeat.
Additionally, Legati, please go through the histories of your Legions (or delegate your Tribuni!) and PM me with:
- the year your Legion was created
- the locations /times of year /enemies of battles you fought and victory / defeat
- any cities your legions took/helped take
- Officer deaths
- Any awards you wish to give units / your General has won
- Any dishonors / punishments you wish to bestow on your armies
- anything else you think might be pertinent, or something you want incorporated
Thanks!
T. C. Marcellus
wooo STEELERS!! (American football) any cardinals fans out there?
haha hell no and ya GO STEELERS!!!
I finally am getting my voice back from being sick! Hooray!
ALSO: Just finished up the library so you guys can see all that news as well.
I would ask that everyone have their SOTs updated by 2morrow. Any retraining needed, move requests, misc. That way we can get this attack on Epeiros done organized.
mine should be all set, just remember before we go to war with Epeiros the Legio III has some rebels to take care of...
o dont worry about being rushed. They dont even know were about to invade, and our first consular legion has to be built up.
oh true true, i forgot about that, just don't want to be left behind =)
I wanted to root for the Steelers since Detroit is my home town and Pittsburgh is really close; but when the Great Obamanation endorsed them I had to choose the Cards since they're from McCain's state.
wouldnt think of letting happen, well need all the men we can get.
Legio III will be leaving later than the other two legions anyway
hi, since it seems that I am CoL again for the next 12 turns, I'll be doing more recruiting since another (larger) legion needs to be recruited. meanwhile I'll also be doing the usual retraining and stuff; but if any legion commanders needs their units retrained, please state it in your SOT post because I won't be moving any units around (because I can't) unless you allow me to
I was playing around with the savegame just now to check on the weird province behavior of Adrumeto/Byzacena mentioned previously.
(I forgot to turn off anti-aliasing when I was doing this so no screenshots)
it seems that when another faction (e.g. ours) took Adrumeto from the carthaginians, the region of Byzacena was still shown belonging to eleutheroi; however it is also displayed that the faction which conquered Adrumeto would own the region of Numidia (?!) instead, while the city in Numidia, Kirtan, still belongs to Eleutheroi.
so I also captured Kirtan to see what happened; which was nothing. the region of byzacena still appears as Eleutheroi controlled.
fortunately there was no CTD, so we could continue playing on and not worry that in the future we would never be able to destroy the carthies before our characters kill each other.
I'm sure Legio III would get its units depleted after chasing the rebels and defeating them, so I'm expecting potocello to update his SOT to allow me to move his units so that I may retrain it; anyway, mooks you can't order where legio III goes or request what happens to it, only potocello (S.L. Longus) may.
and what? you mean _Bean_ has already notified everyone (but myself :smash::gah:) about the campaign?
very well, navarro please send Legio CLIV Eremos to scandinavia to conquer those Armenians in gawjam gotanoz, I think they are about to send a blockade to our holdings in Bartix after Legio III has conquered the nile from those Nile Crocodiles
Oh no not Bartix...
I will be releasing the campaign plan when it comes up in the Curia. No one knows the details yet. Your not being left out Everyone :2thumbsup:
okay navarro, I updated the SOT post so you may retrain my units after we fight the rebels.
wow so, I am playing our game on my own save and have just finished taking all the Dux campaign targets plus Ambrakia in 260 and the money we will make, especially from Segestica, adds up to some 15k a season all together. It will give us money for two new legions and fund attacks on Carthage and Greece if necessary. I got Pyhrrus east of Dalminion with Blasio's Consular Legio and had a freaking glorious battle and cut him down.
We're optimistic then? :2thumbsup:
Very much so! After we the campaign is finished it would be wise to just finish of the Epeiros. So we must then ask ourselves where to next? Greece may then be a good target but it would be wise not to border ourselves with the Arche as we cannot afford war with the games largest empire. Id say, finish off Epeiros, then head to Iberia. This is of course 6-8 years in the future were talking.
I dont think we should finish off anyone. It would completely wipe them from the game, stopping them from returning and becoming a threat in the future. We should extract a treaty from them, maybe even a couple of provinces, maybe return Makedonia to Makedonia and give Byzantion to KH. That would weaken them but not remove them. Its no fun if we just wipe out each faction.
well im not saying were gonna wipe out everyone...just our enemies. Godfather :laugh4:
But everyone will be our enemies at some point
Anyway, I'm knackered. See y'all int morning
I disagree that it isn't fun eliminating factions from the game. I'm quite the genocidal maniac when I play my campaigns. I eliminate them one by one and raze each city I capture. I just love the slaughter and the sleepless nights :-P
I agree that Epiros should be completely eliminated. We will have taken Epidamnos and practically be sitting on Ambrakia, their capitol. If we eliminate them we can either have alliances with the Maks and the KH - or they will force us to take over all of mainland greece (which isn't bad and will put us in a strong position to fight off the Getai / Sauromatae if they want to fight us.
Additionally by taking all of Greece, we can leave the KH/Maks as a buffer between us and AS by leaving them stranded on Crete and the island just west of Turkey. Since we're there, we might as well take the territory just to save us time /give us the income / troops we will need to eventually fight Carthage and the Ptolies.
Let's completely forget about Iberia - that should be the last area we even think about taking until both Carthage and Gaul are Romanized. From that vantage point we can use a pincer movement with about 4 legions and make very short work of Spain. Then those legions can be split up to compliment local troops for garrison duties.
EDIT: Voting ends tonight, right? Pot - you taking the save to get this battle over with? *wink*wink*hint*hint*nudge*nudge*say no more, sir! Say no more!*
gah! that save game I have been playing by myself throughout the weekend is in a rather different scnario; we got Illyria, then Makedon for some reason dislikes Legio III hanging around in Epidamnos so one turn legio III was somehow besieged and we're at war (that's all in the savegame I continued playing on. anyway in that same savegame, we're earning 6k per turn; not 15k because I have a feeling that another legion might be raised since carthage is going to/might be on our to-do list next, and also not forgetting the Consular army that I have to recruit (it would take at least 1 year if we don't build anything for that whole year, because equites Romani are very expensive, considering that it takes around 1/4 of our current total treasury to recruit one); also, I recruited a few fleets to transport armies from illyria back and to get the spy that has been stuck on Sardinia back; and also to spy on enemy coastal areas.
also, in the planned dux campaign I was playing, I managed to finish it within 3 turns (amazingly). I think it helps that we have three legions to do the job and those cities are lightly garrisoned.
Yep, I'm planning this the British way; Maximum Speed and Maximum Aggression :beam:
that's rather good; also Navarro hasn't tallied the results of the congressional session legislations and updated the FAQ yet
EDIT: oh noes; I just realised that we all labelled the latest congressional session's edicts and CA's wrongly. it's the 4th session but the edicts are 3.1, 3.3 etc :wall:
EDIT2: I also just realised that I accdentally made Asina muddle-headed:
The only thing im concerned about is the computer factions being underdeveloped. It really takes quite a few years for the computer to build up any reasonable forces/cities.
thoughts?
Thats why I like to keep factions alive...it gets boring and too easy if you never have any enemies besides the ones you choose.
Regarding navies: I thought we were RPing the merchants loaning us their vessels etc . If that's the case, use the "add money" cheat and recruit one ship to stand for our "fleet". Then we destroy it afterwards - or keep it so that we have an added cost to RP reimbursing the merchants / the lost trade from them not having as many ships.
We absolutely need a naval rank - and I suggest that in each naval fleet we have an avatar who would be an admiral instead of a general. That way we can have some more RPing and get more of the Avatars involved.
Are we still actively recruiting players?
yah i don't think it would last very long or be fun if we we just blitz the hell out of the AI and destroy them all. why don't we completely wipe out Epeiros then lay low and boost our economy?
@Tiberius i don't see why we wouldn't be, i know WotB is always recruiting. do you know someone who's interested?
Would it be rude to advertise in WotB forum?
I think not, its possible to play WotB AND BtSH. I do it...
I'd leave the recruiting in there to you, Navarro, Ibn, people like that that play both. Won't seem so rude then. But yeah it will be good to have more people, seeing as only half or so of the players we have are regular visitors
Don't put ads in the WotB forum, please.
See? :laugh4:
i didnt say anything about ads, i just meant that WotB is always recruiting :smash:
The game gave it to him on its own probably because hes been there a while now. Ill transfer it. Only problem is that I always have trouble with ancillary givings/takings. Anybody keen on that here? TCV maybe?Quote:
Legio I Apulia is heading towards Roma
and why does T.V. Maximus (youhavereceived) have the Provincae Gallia Cisalpina (provincial governor of Cisalpine Gaul) ancillary?
You mean how to transfer an ancillary? You do that by moving the characters using the move_character cheat, and putting them in the same stack (and then just pulling and dropping like normal). Then you move them back to where they were before. Just as a warning though, don't move characters who are inside settlements, and you probably shouldn't try to move characters into settlements either.
I know. My plead was directed at Bean and SwissBarbar. ~:)Quote:

move_character "[character's name]" x,y
So if the coordinates are x = 1 and y= 666, and it's my character you wish to move, then the full code is like this:
move_character "Pvblivs Atilivsregvlvs" 1,666
aw okay ill see if i can do it im gonna take the save now. It i cant get it done TCV, if you dont mind, take care of it when you take the save. :laugh4:
No the moving cheat for the romans is weird, you can only do it with a few of them.
yeah, as far as I know, the Romans have some internal name like PvblivsA or PvblivsB until PvblivsK when they are first spawned, until you quit the game. afterwards, the first name just reverts to Pvblivs; so if there are a few Pvblivs characters in our savegame, it would be a bit hard because all the Romani character internal last names are "Romanvs" post EB1.1
and when is potocello going to engage those rebels?
If so, it has to wait. My EB computer is currently busted (as I said in the WotB forum, but apparently forgot to do here) so I can't do anything until it is fixed, which requires me buying a new part for it. Should be done some time during this week if I can find it, but until then, I can't do anything IG. That's why I've given the movement and battle command of Legio I to Cicero at the moment.
That's what i'm talking about - I'll send him a PM and if I get no response I'll send a messenger to the Curia saying he's fallen into a delirium from an insect bite or something and request control of the Legion temporarily
Navies - I RP'd that my family would donate the first handful of vessels back when we suggested attacking Greece. I'm sure my family would still be willing to do that for a little praise / recognition from the Senate, etc
If your family are merchants...
They sure are, check out my introductory story
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...4&postcount=18
Are merchants (sons) even allowed to be senators?
It's all explained in the story; but the long and the short of it are that my father aided the spy sent into Taras before the invasion and out of recognition of that assistance, the senate awarded me a seat. It was mostly ceremonial in order to ease the minds of the local just-conquered populace by placating them that one of their own would help look out for their interests.
okay so i finally got around to killing the rebels. my pc crashed and i didnt have time to mess around with it so i used my mac. It has no print screen button (to my knowledge) and i forgot to download fraps. Also where is the battle replay button? It is typically to the right of the battle results correct? I looked and all i found was the battle statistics.
Sorry Tiberius.
Also, everyone, you may retrain my units now.
You guys seem to keep forgetting that the moment a Vestal Virgin stops being a virgin is the moment she stops being alive. :laugh4:
aw thats annoying. oh well
While they are serving as Vestal Virgins, intercourse will get them the sealed underground chamber >_>
sure thing Tiberius, I will write something more in the battle reports thread (not like it was a real battle anyway). if you want you can send me some PMs and we could do it that way
What exactly were the rebels composed of?
