OMG my name starts with an 's'
Folks- once again, cut down on the spammy-ness. Don't make the Bad Cop come in with another 13 post edit to voice his displeasure.
You're just ticked that your name starts with a "Y"
Pizza, when you gonna post the big write up?
Probably when he finishes handing out the character cards/when he finishes writing the update? :p.
Yes. I know that isn't specific.
I think GH and Pizza guy are doing this right now....thanks to everyone who is SPAMMING the thread:stare:
BTW....where is the write-up Pizzaguy?? (Not pressuring you or anything:laugh4:)
[My laugh is not that high-pitched, although I can't speak for ATPG. But I am drawing ever so slightly closer to insanity, so please do WATCH THE SPAMMING - GH]
Expect it tomorrow cowboys, take yer time, read a book (:book:), or just bang yer head against a wall. --> :wall:
HA- very funny. :laugh4:
With some exceptions (battles) I am down to Major Robert Dump at the moment, and I feel up to plowing ahead, because I know how excited people are. I CANNOT guarantee they will be all done within the next few hours. I'm only halfway there. And then I will need to do a massive public writeup... there's uh, a few battles in this one. Like several few.
To all-
PLEASE DO NOT SPAM. If the question has been asked, "where are our cards?" and it is not answered, people should not continue to ask, etc. Perhaps the "Chat" window or email or private message should be used for kibitzing and wondering to one another what the host is doing (and keep the content legal, please).
I use this remix to get me in the mood for some dying when I read ATPG´s results and write my orders...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FtAj...eature=related
We´re all gonna die!!!
Do you regenarate health slowly like one point per phase that you´re not fighting?
Whooooo* :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop: :sweatdrop:
That's everyone besides about... 5 players (except for the inactive 3). I absolutely need to stop, there's no way to do this in one sitting. I could do the other 5 but I said that for the last 2 hours... just a few more, just a few more. There's no special reason why you 5 haven't gotten your card back. To tell the truth, it can be as simple as I was in a rhythm and something was out of place... a misplaced character card, a battle that I needed to roll, or something I wasn't creatively ready to write. Sorry for the delay. It helps me make sure I do yours right.
Today, after I rest, the remaining 5 get their cards, and I do the massive public writeup for phase 2. I don't estimate this will be done until this afternoon or later.
 Sleep now Pizza man, and be good, my players. Don't create spam that my friends the gameroom moderators have to delete. Discussion is fine, comment welcome; off-topic not so great.
ALSO: If I somehow messed up your card, please let me know. If you have a question, ask me please. I make mistakes, I try to minimize them, but I'm human and this is just inhuman amounts of work.
One quick question about reloading.
I understand the concept, what I was wondering though is if this only applies to one battle or carries over to the next battle? Say that I used 5 bullets of my baretta in one phase, will I then be starting the next phase with 5 bullets left or do I reload in between the phases?
I thought it meant in one phase, you only shoot that many shots as a limit. Is there a reloading function which you have to order or something, in the game?
No. You will reload automatically. You also have unlimited ammo, but the reload is slowed down to similate scarcity of ammo, so you are ojnly allowed a certain amount of ammo per round of combat. If you want to use some sort of special firing technique, like 3 round bursts or 2 center mass-1 head, etc, tell ATPG and he will implement it
I guess if you asked pizza to, he could let you reload whenever you want, but obviously at the cost of not being able to combat that round
from the way i see the rules, pizza said that guns can be fire X amount of times per phase. I assume that most pistols will be shooting 1 bullet per phase, and that is the "speed" of firing as pizza puts it. the above would probably not be available on all guns. but yea reloading should be automatic
so using the pistol as an example, if you have a pistol and you enter combat; for that phase you can only shoot 1 bullet max. after your magazine runs out of bullets (10 shots), you cannot attack in the next phase as you will be reloading your gun. the phase after reloading everything returns to normal.Quote:
Speed: 1 bullet per combat round.
As for other guns (i assume there to be assault rifles and such) the number of bullets you can fire depends on your gun's speed. if it says 5 then you can shoot 5 bullets in one phase.
it makes sense from a hosting point of view
Pretty much Askthepizzaguy has taken a game based around a popular fiction apocalyptic storyline and added in a Battle Royale setting (Which I regret missing, sorry Zain). ATPG has added in rules to regulate the game, to balance the threats with the advantages, and to make it possible for anyone to win. By limiting ammo, trigger-time, and movement speed everyone is being held by the same rules, and so therefore has leveled the playing field. Now it comes down to the individual's decision making skills in conjunction with the host-induced luck of the draw.
In all reality, some will fail greatly because of lack of experience. Others will fail because of bad luck. Then you have the group that succeed, those will be the lucky and skilled. I submit I predict Cultured Drizzt fan at least to do well, due to his performance in Zain's Battle Royale.
I on the other hand predict failure due to my obvious inexperience in a BR setting. I am, however, using as much common sense as possible to stir away from danger and keep myself alive and well. My fate lies in someone else's hands. Not my favorite thought, but it's true.
I greatly admire Askthepizzaguy for hosting such an encumbersome game. Crunching the numbers, and sending out everyone an individual PM must be a task only for the gifted and patient.
I also admire many other hosts, namely Zain for using his creativity in his games and coming up with ideas that are new to the .Org and GeneralHankerchief for hosting the "Pirate Ship Mafia" which was a huge event as well.
Thank you to all hosts, I enjoy your games, and although I know I could never be near as successful as the three I mentioned and the rest of the usual hosts that are not mentioned, I will someday host a non-mafia game of a chosen topic I have had in my mind for many years now.
That is all for now,
Ephrum
This is not quite correct, You are mixing up the terms phase and combat rounds.
Phase refers to the 15 min blocks that we perform our actions in.
Combat round refers to each round of combat in which an attack is made and dice rolled to calculate hit, miss, damage etc.
Theoretically if a pistol has a 10 round clip and fires 1 bullet per combat round, it is possible to use up all the bullets in the clip during a phase. Though it is most probable that combat will not last 10 rounds as someone would have died or ran away well before then imo.
Honestly I have a deep feeling that my former experiance in BR will not give too much of an advantage this game. Back in BR I worked alone and silently eliminated my opponents using my superior stealth and tactics. It worked mostly because I was able to hide easily, and my opponents had a very tough time seeing me before my dagger was in their back. Here is is a whole new game., not the least of which because of the change in scenery. Here in a huge city stealth loses some of its appeal, and the fact that the real opponents we have, the zombies, can not be fooled by simply hiding. Guns also add a new dimension of the game, making my old style horribly outdated.
And lets not forget this is a much more cooperative game, no going lone wolf this time. also, win is not based on killing everyone else, Which changes dynamics a lot.
However that is not to say I plan on dying off early. I am willing to adapt to the new setting, and we will see how things go down. :beam:
In all, I love these games, and I really respect the hosts who take their time to bring us all such great games :2thumbsup: One day when I get better at hosting I may make one myself. But There is just so much that would need to be done, it boggles the mind.
A practitioner of Kung Fu, can easily learn to be great at gymanstics. So therefore I believe you will do fine, I guess in the long run we will find out who is the best.
And hosting seems fun, but full of work. It's probably very interesting to see the game mechanics spit out the results too rather than just see the results.
It seems like ATPG's game and GH's games are mechanics related and Zain's are not. How did that seem to work out for Zain?
This is a good question, as I see many others are also fuzzy on the concept.
In battle, you have either a first strike combat round (one player attacks the other, no counterattack) or none, and it proceeds to the second combat round.
There are as many combat rounds as it takes before one of you dies or flees, all contained within the 15-minute "phase".
You could have 20 combat rounds in a phase if the battle lasted that long.
You must use up ALL the bullets you have before you can reload. 0 bullets in the chamber, then you wait until you "find" more bullets and you have successfully reloaded.
Here's an example:
Phase 1: 4 bullets shot, 6 remain, cannot reload.
Phase 2: 4 bullets shot, 2 remain, cannot reload.
Phase 3: 2 bullets shot, none remain, reloading next phase.
Phase 4: reload; Gun useless.
Phase 5: 10 bullets reloaded, can use this phase.
Like in that game where you play as that Japanese cop where doves appear out of nowhere every level, where you can't reload unless you empty your gun, except the reloads were instant and took no time in that game...
Indeed it is possible to hide from the zombies, and the scenery is really for storyline purposes mostly. There are far more places to hide in a city than in the jungle, methinks... the city is the ultimate jungle, made of concrete and steel.
*plays Welcome to the jungle
You'll find that guns work in almost the same way as the previous weapons. The only real difference is that with melee weapons there's added combat bonuses based on your stats, and there are sniper weapons.Quote:
Guns also add a new dimension of the game, making my old style horribly outdated.
Any townsperson or serial killer has the option of going for a lone wolf victory by being the last one standing. After the town "wins" the game (if they win) then the remaining townies may want to think about going insane and killing off their former allies and attempting to be the last one standing.Quote:

Or beforehand, whichever works for you... :laugh4:

Copycats (of which I am one of them) don't try this game at home. Please host a game half this size and complexity and see if you can handle that first, unless you feel like having your back broken in half.... :eyebrows:
-Offline for a moment, when I come back, missing cards and final writeup of this phase.
There could be unlimited rounds, but if your pistol only had 10 bullets in the clip and fired one bullet per combat round then, only ten rounds of combat would feature you using your gun. If you were both still alive you would then revert to any other weapon you have. this might just be your fists.
ATPG might want to specify for clarity, but I imagaine the effectiveness of handguns will be greatly reduced in larger battles involving more than just two people.
For example if it was you and a few allies verses five zombies. Your 10 Bullet clip for your handgun would only last you 2(?) combat rounds. Two bullets for each Zombie.
Please note that you can be a little creative and more specific regarding combat. For example... You are able to specifiy in you phase orders that you want to use your Katana for the first combat round. Perhaps depending on orders this could be a first strike. Then use your hand gun for the remaining rounds till you run out of bullets and which point switch back to Katana.
In fact if you have the luxury of having more than one weapon, it might pay to be more specific.
Or, you know, you could just pistol whip everyone.
Can I just get a quick confirmation on something?
Are we allowed to communicate directly via pm with anyone in our zone of control? If so can we do so immediately upon receiving our updated character cards or should we wait for the updated writeup to be posted?
Yes.
The Phase Two writeup is posted.
Everyone has their cards. *collapses in exhaustion*
Wishazu: Yes you can, and you can immediately.
i love this game now go to sleep atpg
