Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I don't know what Ignoramus has in mind, but if he wanted to get reinforcements, he could have sent Hans north instead of sending Sigismund south, and abandoning Arnold.
Of course he might just want to get the Austrian Duke killed ... :grin2:
[edit]
On second thought, why are you sending Hans to Vienna against the orders I sent you via PM? And without the units that are supposed to follow him as his loyal entourage?

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
i'm gonna withdraw from my battle - i cant beat all those horsemen without spears or archers or anything.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I already wrote Ignoramus that I would like to sally forth this turn. I hope he acknowledges my request. Becaus if I don't get to attack with Arnold he might as well be dead. Also, I haven't looked at the saves, but Sigismund should stay close so that he can finally get knighted.
Don't worry about the Stories, though, nobody will be cast in a bad light, I promise. :beam:
Well no one that is currently being played.

Hell that sounds dangerous. Why do you say that? I can't see the saves to know exactly what is going on.
Sigismund has been moved towards Sofia so things look like they are not going to plan. It seems I need you use the Night Fighting skill to win this.

Holy Hell Iturlade!! :laugh4:
What in the blue blazes of hell is going on?? ;)
Now can you tell me why the situation with the Hungarian's is so dangerous?

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
ehrhart was a fool? i dont think so ituralde! lol
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Well you are outnumbered 2 to 1 and stuck inside some tiny fort, while the Hungarians could coma at you from the Norht and the South. If you are unlucky they block both exits and that way, the fort becomes a death trap.
In order to avoid this, Arnold should sally forth and attack the one visible army. Preferrably using a night attack. That way he can see both armies off one by one. He could even wait for Sigismund to join him and get knighted once he has fought his way clear by attacking south.
The Hungarians don't just have superior numbers, I belive they're Armies consist of a good chunk of Dismounted Feudal Knights, making them no pushover.
As always, I'll do my very best!
Edit: Can't blame a mother, that has lost her eldest child in some battle. :beam:
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Maate you're killing me here. :sweatdrop:
Sigismund is way off east near Sofia. You're going to have to fight this without him. A night attack would be best.
I'm not sure how the battle doesn't have to be fought now as I guess the Hungarian's would want to fight this.
Remember..."I need mooore Dreeaad!!"

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
hey why does the uploaded save have a RAR file inside the folder instead of a SAV? even if i wasnt withdrawing from my battle i wouldnt be able to get to it!
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Do you have WinRaR?
Have you unzipped the file yet? Once you've done that you can get the save.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
i unzipped it, but the file inside is a RAR file. and no, i dont have winrar. all the other saves i've gotted had a compressed folder with a SAV file in it - this is too weird lol
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I don't see why the saves need to be both zipped and in winrar. But you can download an evaluation version of winrar on the web.

I merely linked to it. Ignoramus uploaded it (it includes some of his first turn moves as Chancellor).

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Don't worry Ituralde and AussieGiant, Arnold will sally. I didn't realise Sigismund hadn't been knighted, but I'm sure I can knight him with Arnold in a turn or two.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I have a question here. One of the things we passed in this recent diet either an edict or an ammendment stated that all settlements must build religious buildings to the highest level possible. Does that mean that only religious buildings can be built until that happens or can the Counts or Dukes only have to build at least one religious building each term??
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
From what I understand of the rule is that the settlement must always build the possible level of religious building of that settlement size before other improvement to that city can be build. So if the settlement already have the best possible religious building possible, you cannot build an improvement to the religious building until the settlement size increase again, you can start building other improvement in there.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
So, I've heard some talk about Lyse von Salza being married off to some enterprising German. With that in mind, I'd like to propose an plan on how to decide who the lucky man will be. To put it simply, I was thinking of a competition involving war games. Each general who seeks her hand would command in army online through gamespy.
I know that historically knights often had tournaments of single combat to decide who should marry a lady, and a competition like this could even be carried on without stopping the PBEM (although taking a week off for such an occasion might be fun too). We wouldn't necessarily need the troops to actually be there in-game, we could say they're here just for the competition, just as we nobles go to Rome for the Diet. We could hold another competition when Meinberg come of age, or hold one for each of them simultaneously. The only real organizational headache would be coming up with a bracket, but depending on how many people are interested we could use different formats. There are eleven eligible player-controlled electors, so the longest it can be is only fifty-five battles. :duel:
So, do you think it could work? I'm especially interested in Warluster's opinion, as he's the one who has the final say!
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I have the second last say, the Emperor has the last say.
Yeah, it sounds pretty good.
Though some people might not wanna play on-line.
I think it might be better to have a more verbal competition first.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I think I have given my interpretation of the Religious Building Edict earlier in this thread. The way I see you only have to have a religious building in the build queue you submit to the Chancellor. If you don't the Chancellor will not authorize any new building.
Cheers!

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Oh, Ituralde, do you want to sally out as Arnold now? You can if you want.
-
Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Cecil XIX this tourney sounds like a glorious idea! I've never played online and I dunno who's the potential bride, but sign me in :2thumbsup:
Of course this would need rules too I suppose, army budget and composition...

That's correct. The Edict was:
Quote:
The Chancellor will not authorise any construction in settlements without the highest level of religious building currently possible, unless there is a religious building in the build queue.
The tournament idea sounds fun, Cecil XIX. It will probably be Warluster's call, but given the interest, when the Princess spawns, the Chancellor should announce it in the Diet. Then potential suitors can declare an interest in the Diet and the Emperor can take it from there (arranging a tournament if he wants).

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
Ignoramus, you really ought to clear some PM space as chancellor :tongue2:
Since I don't have time to wait for that at the moment, please find the message you were about to receive in the spoiler tags.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
A tourney might be hard to arrange. Normally I'm playing MP only (KOTR brought me back to campaigns again, tho normally I consider SP to be boring) and I can tell you that it's very hard to find times both people are available, next to that you will find problems with GS, which really suck. If you never play online also note to test if it works before you start playing, loads of people enter the CD-key in the wrong way (I can know, I wrote multiple faqs for MP problems on .com) and you need a GameSpy account, which is a pain in the arse to get as half the time it ain't properly working.
(Would you want to play MP sometime, you'll find me as UgliStig in the lobby)

We've had 24 hours with no one fighting their battles. I propose we fix a deadline of 9.20am UK time Monday (ie 48 hours after your post above) and then you move on.

Re: King of the Romans OOC thread VII
I remember that in the previous chancellorship, I was under siege by the French in Paris. Am I still under siege and if so, i would want to fight the sally.

Thanks for that Igno!!
By the way I'll change the build queue's to reflect the edict. It was generalised anyway so it will simply include a sentence saying the appropriate religious building is to be built first.
Ituralde!!
Mate, get in there son!!:laugh4:
