China as multi will depend entirely on who you're playing with. Early on, I fail to see how you'll have a chance to win the opium war against a human opponent. Normally, against the AI, its very difficult. However, it can be VERY rewarding in the long run if you win. This is why I probably wouldn't advise taking China- human opponents will likely wreck you to prevent the unstoppable behemoth from arising. :sweatdrop:
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Awesome then. Only Tratorix left confirming. In any case, provided that my college dorm net works fast enough (Unlikely, but we never know), I might be able to play. Otherwise, you'll start the first session without me.

However, I'm still up for it. Although I'm not a long playing Vicky Veteran, I'm up for most challenges (Except ofc UK Russia etc.) Normally, I'd make a beeline straight for Austria, but seeing as how it's VIP, I might have to look somewhere else. USA maybe?
P.S. If this does go on in the future, a rescheduling to Friday/Saturday would be nice. Also, I'll need help regarding setting up connections, since I have no idea how to do it.
I'm Portuguese. We got exactly the same time fuse. If I'm not mistaken, Ichigo is Dutch so he'll be one hour ahead of us
EDIT: ATPG, khaan is right. In MP, besides being manhandled by a minimally competent British player, you also have significant problems to make up for that in both ways:
Massive money shortage (And deficits) in case you attempt to build a significant army to make up for its pathetic lack of technology.
Or you save up money to buy techs from Civilized players, but since all other players know that if you industrialize & modernize, you can defeat them easily usually China players find themselves very difficultly getting techs from anyone. Even so, since you saved up money for techs and provided you purchase them at exhorbitant costs, you then must neglect your military which in turn means other European MP players (Especially Russia) might find it attractive to grab parts of your Empire.
So yeah, China in MP basically faces some of the problems real China faced. In VIP, this is now even more exacerbated, since you have to deal with a bucketload of revolt events, if you (Obviously) lose the Opium Wars.
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Do we know who's going to have what countries? Also, are we using a mod?
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
I'll probably be available to play on Sunday. I'll probably just take a small country, though, since I'm not very good.

As for the mod, we shall be using the following:
Victoria: Revolutions, v 2.01
Mod: VIP 0.3
House rules would be that any ahistorical parties are not to interfere with major chain-plots (This includes but probably not limited to: Not interfering the Opium War/Arrow War; German & Italian unification; American Civil War.) Obviously, those historically involved may use all their wits and might to attempt to change history.
We haven't picked any definitive countries as of yet.
I would suppose it would be better to follow my first proposal.
More experienced players get the larger countries and each has a more innexperienced player whom is helped by the larger player. Thus the more innexperienced players won't be so overwhelmed while playing against other human players.
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
I don't care who gets what, for the most part, but Jolt's proposal seems one that is quite sound.
If i had a choice I'd like to take an Italian faction, with a preference of Sardinia-Piedmont. It would be very interesting trying to form Italy in a MP game.

Indeed, with the first Hotfix as well.
Didn't read the link (only gave a brief look, no time) but I used to play online with Hamachi.
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
I'm an experienced player, might be interested otherwise but I don't like VIP. Have fun guys, some kind of AAR wouldn't go amiss.
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Well, I'm out. Couple midterms next week.
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Shall we meet in 1 hour in the Orgah chat?
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Already there. Always there. :beam: Monk is on as well
Re: Victoria Multiplayer Session
Argh, Java isn't working and my MiRC download froze D:
What's the network? I might be able to go around this problem.

So did this fail?

Unfortunately. Jolt mentioned in chat he would see if he could get it to work on a much smaller scale if there was another attempt, but we tried for a good two hours to connect to a game with no luck.
