I know that trick but I expected they put a little more interest in fixing basic game bugs, not only resolution/system problems. Would be nice to get some kind of MTW Enhanced Edition.

Anybody manage to get command line options to work yet? I tried to set the -ian mode from "Properties->Set Launch Options" in the Steam library and got nothing.

A compiled list of the working mods so far.
Interesting. Anyone playing MP?
Thoughts? Impressions so far on the modern edition?
Just bought it on Steam.
I`ll have to dl it and see if it runs w/o crashing.
Do I need to wipe my present installation?
So far so good
Campaign running smoothly. One CTD; I had left the game for a little over an hour (smoking and making coffee) game crashed when I went to do a hard save.
No complaints so far, perhaps I will have the original game discs bronzed and erect a shrine
Yeah, the only issue I've noticed so far is that the game freezes/crashes if left running with no activity for long periods of time -- say, 45 minutes or more. Otherwise, I've not had any problems yet. :2thumbsup:
The problem Stazi displayed still happens even with the steam version.
I have only seen it happen when I switch to desktop from a battle screen and come back.
Just group and ungroup 2 units (any two units) and the display should fill out.
Well, it was too good to be true.
MTW from steam was working as good as the disc installation.
I was playing it earlier, shut it down to do some browsing. When I came back to continue conquering the world: (app already running) Cannot access Steam
Blah!
Just a wee word of advice to anyone with the Steam version, don't upgrade to Windows 10.
It was working fine for me on 8.1, after upgrading building and unit construction queues in settlements only open in Windows XP compatibility mode, and unit tabs and a few others won't open at all.
I can't find any way around it, did find one person claiming he got it working in 800x600 resolution, made no difference for me.
I got my old installation of XL mod to work using the Steam version like this:
1. Installed MTW from Steam into the Steam folder
2. Copied the entire folder containing XL mod from my old computer into a separate folder (not Steam) on my newer computer
3. Copy/pasted the Medieval_TW.exe file from the Steam folder into the folder containing XL mod, replacing the old .exe file with the same name
4. Started the game. IT WORKS! And with all the high resolution stuff and I haven't detected any bugs, though I haven't played long periods yet
I also got the "cheat lines" to work by creating a shortcut onto my desktop and added the -ian and -strictserver lines there.
Does this work with Windows 10?
When Win10 first came out, I don't think the Steam version worked with it. That may have changed since, but I haven't heard that is does work, and cannot verify it personally.
How has it been going since this post? I'm thinking I'll need to try getting it from Steam as I was rather annoyed after yesterdays efforts;
In an attempt to free up some space on my c: (Win7) , I thought I'd move MTW and MTW2 to another drive. I had last played MTW and MTWXL probably two years ago. I uninstalled them and then couldn't find one of the original install disks. I then found another unused set of disks from a RTW combo pack that my brother or I bought at some point. Installed but no dice. Tried back in c: and no dice either. Annoyed. It used to work. I've tried compatibility options and as admin (an error I get is "Please login with administrator privileges and try again") which prompted me to have a look for that issue mid post and it seems that it's related to a Windows update. I think I'll try removing / disabling it and see how I go - and it's a success.
Anyway, I'd want to play MTW, VI and MTWXL so given that the Steam version is so cheap, I figured it might be worth while trying. There's quite a few comments that it's not worth getting, probably due to the CTD? I only experienced that a few times and it wasn't necessarily repeatable.
I guess this doesn't include Viking Invasion?
How well does MTW VI play on windows 10 as i will be installing it soon.
No as i haven't installed windows 10 yet.
How is everyone enjoying their MTW days on Steam? :balloon:
Steam version (2.01 PE) is even more affordable than original MTWVI 2.01
I've tried to run with a simple mod (Peasants stats, unit choice of AI, all mounted units dismount, playable Novgos, 2 more units in original unit file and some graphics of frontend menu) and it runs greatly.
XL mod Tyberius patch runs fine too; don't dare to launch my Hyborian age mod, not yet.
All supported resolution of AMD Radeon R7 370 (from 1440x900 to full HD 1920x1080) successfully tested
That machine washed info panel, change it with the one of Tyberius mod
Game is on sale until September 5th.

110.000 Medieval TW owners on Steam, and about 30.000 players.
I finally got around to play the game - on Steam that is :grin2: - all going smooth and no problems so far. What I noticed also is a performance improvement as well, turn "thinking" is decreased slightly.
