I was looking for a new strategy game and thought I might try medieval. I came across this site either looking for the demo (through google) or looking for more info.
I joined mostly because I was curious about RTW which was about to come out.
I joined to discuss RTW , and to post in the guide forum. and eventually I moved and started posting more here in the tavern
:balloon2:
i came here via Gamefaqs, a faq said i modding tools for MTW here, so i came in when MTW came out. and i lurked here till december 2004 then i joined. well actually i totally forgot about the site untill RTW came out, then i joined and became a wellknown spammer.
On the .com (pre-MTW days) some folks always used to talk about "the org". Eventually I had to come and look for myself and see what they were talking about. They always made it sound like such a cool place ~ I discovered the posters were more mature and knowledgable than on the .com so I stayed
Was a lurker for quite a while, then decided to make Lord of the Rings units for M:TW and posted it for response. Been modding TW ever since.
Was looking for help with MTW, and found FrogBeastEgg's guide... never looked back.
Looking for RTW info on google, found this place, lurked for a day, and have been here ever since. But, since the destruction of my computer, RTW discs, MTW discs and a few other games due to misplacement of a box of firecrackers two weeks ago, i haven't had anything to talk about TW wise, so i've been in the tavern for a while now.
1. Tons of info :book:
2. Great company ~:grouphug:
3. Free drinks in some clubs ~ ( joke )
Preciesly the same reason. But earlier.Quote:

I heard it was a good place to meet women.
Anyway I can't type anymore right now; I'm off to see a guy about some real estate for sale in Florida.

I wanted to mouth off about RTW, and found the background was easier on the eye here than at the .com (The text is too small as well).
Seriously that dark blue on black with white letters gives me a headache. The Flying Spaghetti monster intended text to be black and I don't see why we should change that.
Friendliness, the huge wealth of knowledge amongst posters, the relaxed moderation of the forums on here compared to the fascist approach on the .com forums, the occasional loons who pass through here ~:)
Joined because I wanted to talk about Shogun.
Wanted to know how the anti-cavalry bonus of Yari Samurai worked. But I didn't found out the answer until a month or so later, because I got caught up in a discusion of Atheism with A. Saturnus, Brutal DLX, Papewaio and Pindar. Those were great times. I tried to join in on the Backroom to repeat this discussion, but the atmosphere (and my habit of commenting on things I don't know the detail of) always made me abort any attempt after the first post.

Joined because this community seemed more 'open' than .com. Came to discuss modding but ended up spending more time arguing about politics and stuff.
And got tired of .com moderators power-trips. I get very bored when mods close a thread before it breaks the rules just in case. I hate that. Its insulting and implies the majority of people cant control themselves..Im 25 dammit!
Whats worse, is a mod actually empowered to do that..it seems to strech their mandate just a bit..
I actually stumbled onto the Org without meaning to. I was over at the .COM, and I decided I was going to check out the forums there, as I needed some advice on a problem I was having with Shogun. Well when I clicked on "Community" at the top of the page, I saw the address to this site sitting at the bottom of the mini-menu. "Hullo, what's this?" I said to myself, and out of simple curiosity I clicked on it.
So I wound up checking out the forums here instead, to discover that not only was there already a thread covering the issue I was having problems with; but that the Org contained a wealth of other useful advice and information as well (not to mention everyone was very friendly and knowledgable). I finally became a member after over a year of lurking around on the boards.
Because i love you guys.. ~:grouphug:
... because my new RTW map wasn't working correctly, and I wanted somebody to tell me what was wrong. It turned out that I fixed the problem myself, but I stuck around, spamming the OWSII ~;)
I was looking for help on how to establish a sea-trade route in MTW :embarassed: and Google directed me to the Org. I lurked around for about a month before I decided to register. As (almost) everyone was responding very friendly at my first posts, I decided to stay.
Because I had an hour to spare.
One hour...
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!!! :dizzy2: ~D
Exactly, but in my case it was STW.Quote:

then you must have been lurking around for an long time
Nope - just bought STW very late.Quote:

Because the official forums brought me out in a rash and I had to get away from EA and their asshatery.
Bought RTW and read all FrogBeastEgg's guides to RTW when I wasn't playing it.
The Org looked like the place for the smart, cool people, and I wanted people to think I was smart and cool. ~;)
i don't know.. i think it had something to do with medmod.. it was a long time ago (for me), i can't remember. actually, i think i joined the org once before with a different user name.. maybe that's what i'm thinking of.
While waiting for a suitable game in the MTW lobby and talking politics, the tavern was suggested as an excellent place to debate politics.
Yes, its true. I joined the .org for something totally unrelated to TW. :embarassed:
