Guess some of the new EB buildings

I'll tell you that #3 is in Galatia. Anyone know of the name of the place?

hoom is awfully close with #2. Might as well chalk that one up too. It's a Carthaginian commemorative monument. Or funerary monument if you want to call it that - the constructed image is of the mausoleum at Dougga, but the icon is from the one at Sabratha in Libya. Another big one not shown here is the Souma of the Kroub, near Constantine. The one at Dougga is usually touted as the only remaining great monument of Punic architecture still standing on Tunisian soil (an evil Brit had almost completely demolished it in order to get at the biliingual Libyan and Punic inscription on it - now in the British Museum). Plus they are from the third and second centuries BC, so right up our alley. Also, it is not a unique - it can be built in many places in Qarthadastim lands (probably in type1 and type2 gov lands).

Ah, then #3 is the Drunemeton?
Hmm, to me they do not look line oaks...

Just out of curiosity, is Mount Olympus getting into 0.81?

I'm thinking it is certainly in greece, I would guess the Corinth canal, but I don't think it was ever completed (during EB timeframe).

#3 I would say is 'The Sacred Grove of the Druids' or Drunmeton (i think its spelled), in central turkey.

#4 is looks to be an acropolis, but the lower buildings seem to be a wall structure surounding the elevated site and appear to be eastern in construction. Im gonna guess masada, but I believe someone else has guessed that and was wrong, but no other clue if it isnt that.

#6 I would think is on mainland Greece, as opposed to many saying it is seleucid or what not. I'm thinkin the temple of Zeus at Olympia, but probably not, maybe parthenon (some kind of greek temple complex :dizzy2: ).

My first thought for number 4 was Sarmezgethusa. However from site photos I have seen of the city and the fact that my gf has been there I discounted that pretty quick and also thought it could be Masada, but if my history is correct the fortress was built entirely on the hilltop and the Romans had to build their own ramp up to the citadel.

If these are supposed to be unique buildings for a region my guess would be that it could be Troy on the Agean coast or the geography of the layout reminds me a photos I have seen of the Lion gate at Mycenae with a small path leading to the hilltop fortress ( but its way wrong for the EB time period. )

That was the pic that was submitted with the proposal. I'll get rid of it and find one that clearly has oak trees. What types of oak trees are found in Anatolia? I'd hate to get a type that wasn't found there at Ancyra.

Well, you're kind of right, but kind of wrong. Xerxes canal might be cool, but it really doesn't do a lot for someone holding that province - no big trade benefit would result like at the diolkos at Corinth. The image of the canal in the icon is actually the canal at Potidea (not Xerxes' but another one (ancient I believe) on the Chalkidke), but it represents a canal we couldn't find images of - a canal in the Hayasdan province. Anyone know what it is?

As for the temples, they are Greek, but we generally don't include a temple as a unique. One of the exceptions is if it is in territory that is definitely not-greek at the game's start. This is a place with multiple large temples in one location (3, 2 are right next to each other) in territory not controlled by a greek faction or a greek rebel subfaction at the game's start.

Xerxes is what google likes, in all honesty I'm still not entirely sure where it even is. Somewhere in Greece/Anatolia.

As for this particular piece, I'm going to say either Chehriz irrigation canals, or the aqueduct of Shamiram‑Su?

I have 2 ideas of what it might be but I dont remember the names of either because my history knowledge is second to most.

My 2 choices either the citidel the jewish rebels hid from the romans in and then all committed suicide when they realised they had no chance.

Or that city high in the hills that alexander decided to bypass rather than take because it would be too costly, though what its name is I havent a clue.

6 The Paestum temple complex?

More precise, number 6 seems to be the Poseidon (or Neptune) temple and Basilica at Paestum.

Gotta give it to HC first though - it is indeed a couple of the temples of Hera (alternately called temples of other gods, but both to Hera it seems accurately) at Paestum.

It looks like Gazius named the Shamiram‑Su first (the canal). "In the heart of the most ancient part of Hayasdan called Hayots-Dzor (Valley of the Armenians) this canal runs from a generous spring in the foot-hills of the Armenian mountains, through the city of Tushpa (modern day Van) and into Lake Van, travelling some 45 miles to do so. It was responsible for watering an extensive and very rich region of Urartu, and so much was it needed by the people of that land that even today it runs with the same life-bringing water that it did almost 3000 years ago when it was first built..."

Anyone got 4 right yet? It doesn't look like it. I've given a hint on it though.

4 = Acrocorinth or maybe Rock of Aornos! Nothing else crosses my mind!

The only other important site I know (in that one region) is the Erebuni (Yerevan) Fortress.

The icon and image are both of the citadel of Tushpa, but obviously not with all the buildings reconstructed on it.

These are not for sure going to be in the build yet, but the graphics are done, so it's just a matter of whether or not we want to adopt a special policy that will include them.
