Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
My nephew has his own equipment. He worked odd jobs, lawn mowing, toting 70lb. bundles of shingles up a ladder for a roofing contractor last summer etc..., worked his tail off to afford the stuff, I slipped him some cash too seeing how hard he was willing to "get it on his own". I think the gun alone cost $600, and he goes through at least a case of paint, 2000 rds., every time he plays.
Hope you can find a place to try it out, Husar.

Thanks for that link Greg, will have to look further into it once I have some money and found some friends willing to do it.:sweatdrop:
Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
Love paintballing, extremely awesome. I go paintballing here: http://www.paintballjungle.com/ every other month or so. It's woodsball and it is wild almost 90% of the time. I went an entire day without getting shot(many bounces tho, those hurt like a mother) and took out 14 people, captured the flag(in the last game of the day), and took it too the hosts(called the SF Hornets) in a game after lunch called the beezwax. Usually you can't beat the Hornets, as we lose in the space of 10 mins consistently, but that day we did! And when you capture the flag and turn it in to the store, you get this slick little patch that is really cool. They also have forts, bunkers, a few foxholes(they don't help, trust me), and everything in between. There are some pretty crazy characters there too, like a guy fully decked out in that sniper gear that makes him look like swamp thing, or some hardcore guys with replicas of todays US infantry standard weapon. Sometimes you don't even see a guy till he shoots ya, and other times your involved in crazy running battles that can cover the entire playing field! Sometimes, you find yourself assaulting a base that is not even your main objective but there are baddies in there, and you cant resist the challenge, and after taking it, you assault the base that IS your objective(with the enemies flag inside of it), after that you have to return it to yours, and sometimes they are in your base, so now you have to retake your base to win the game, it's crazy fun.
Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
mmmmm paintball, very fond memories.
The first time my best friend and I ever played anything more than small game vs friends was right after we joined a club and heard they were going to a competition. We had to drive a couple of hours but it was worth it. A huge section of forest (rare in Iowa) and enough people to have a couple 100 vs 100 games. We had to resort to recruiting 3 others for a pick up team in the 5v5 capture the flag tourney, which was the reason for the event. Amazingly we made to the final four and won 3rd via the consolation game. We were one of only 2 pick-up teams in the entire tourney field. It was a great time, tons of fun. :2thumbsup:
Of course I did some recon during and before the huge non competition team games and there were people priming their equipment for non tournament standard mayhem :laugh4: . Most of which consisted of the switching of air tanks for those primed in the sun as well as the grabbing the paintballs from the ice chest instead of the 'cool' cooler.

It's quite expensive, but you should be able to find a field without much trouble.
However, I love playing woodsball, so whenever I'm in Canada, I go at least a few times during my stay.
Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
I've only played paintball once, but it was in quite a small area since there is only one place in Rotorua we can do it. I've only done it once cause it is quite expensive. There were 13 of us, I was on the side with 6 people against the 7.
Once we got used to it then my team started to get organised, the other team all tried to be the heros and got shot doing it. I was usually right behind the person who got the flag supporting them but that didn't matter since we slaughtered them as a team.
In the end the instructor joined the team of 7 which meant that we were 6 vs. 8 and the instructor played for the national paint ball team. We still managed to win once but not any other times. And he hit me in the mouth of the visor and I got a mouth full of paint! Which was worse than any other injuries I got.
But I'm proud to say that our team was able to fight well against a larger enemy force. :2thumbsup:
If I ever had the money I'd do it again, though a lot of my friends who played last time are at university now so it would probably be a much smaller game.
Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
Never paintballed yet, but intend to. Yet I remember a variation around paintball, called the trollball. Limited ammunition, clean clothes: the winner is the one with the minimal number of impacts. You don't die when hit.
Must be crazy!
Re: Going Paintball Tomorrow!
Most paint washes right out of clothes, even white ones.
