Can I join your alliance, I do have to make a new nation since my last one was part of the shirley massacre.
Alright, applied on the forums.
Hmm...looks like many more play CN. :)
GATOer here, always will be even if we were completely battered. Cataphract, would you mind me asking what's your name over there? Same with Kekvit if you don't mind. :)
My name is pretty simple. kekvitirae, no spaces

The what?
The shirley massacre was one of darkest days in CN history. At my school alot of people played CN during lunch and I was one of them, I had a semi-decent nation within Legion but I was foolish, my friend told me to put a thread on the the forum that implied that Ivan Moldavi was gay, my friend told me that nothing would happen but he was wrong, the results were devestating.
My nation was deleted along with every other nation at school(about 20), the only surviving nation was the Kingdom of the Isles.
Well that was real smart... insulting the leader of the largest and most powerful aggressive alliance in CN. :tongueg:
Okay, so I've logged in now and created an account. What do I do first -- create my nation, or go the forums and apply to join your alliance Kek?
Where on the forum do I sign to join?
There's no point in applying if you don't have a nation yet :PQuote:

It took me almost a year of playing and several donations to get where I am. It helps that my nation resources (gems and sugar) accurately emulates the kind of nation I want: economical powerhouse. Fast food, fine jewelry, and affluent population FTW!Quote:

Where on the forum do I sign up? I looked but I couldn't see your alliance.
I figured as much, but I didn't want to assume anything. ~;p So any general recommendations for creating my nation (location, ethnicity, government type, etc.)?Quote:

Ethnicity is the same; totally cosmetic, but can be changed whenever you want.
Government and religion, however, do have an effect on the game. If you choose the same religion that the majority of your population wants to worship, you'll get a +1 Happiness bonus (happier citizens = more income). Same thing with Government Type, but GT has additional bonuses depending on what type you set. Overall, I prefer Monarchy, despite whatever my population wants. The chart for all the effects are here: http://s15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Na...p?showtopic=17
As you can see, Monarchy gives a +1 Happiness bonus (more income), and reduces the cost of buying Infrastructure (more citizens) by -5%. If your people demand Monarchy, you'll get an addition +1 Happiness on top of that.
A very useful thread for new players is here: http://z15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Na...showtopic=6170
Well I just created my nation, the Kalgat Union, and have applied for membership in the ELE.
I appear to have messed up already, however, as I chose my team color to be black. I wasn't aware of -- indeed, I'm not sure that I fully grasp even now -- the significance of one's team color. :wall:
You can change your Team Color by going into Edit My Nation. Having a trade agreement with someone of the same color as you grants both people a +1 Happiness bonus.
Thanks Kek. I'm all covered in purple-y goodness now.
You might also want to consider sending some trade proposals. Take a look at your resources, and then take a look at the bonus resources available ( http://z15.invisionfree.com/Cyber_Na...p?showtopic=31 ) and figure out what you need to get those. I, personally, prefer to go full financial, so I've delved heavily into getting fine jewelry (gems, gold, silver, coal), and affluent population (fine jewelry, fish, furs wine). Your tastes may vary, depends on how you build your nation. Many of the top players go for construction (lumber, iron, marble, aluminum) right off the bat and build their nations around it.
To easily see what other people have, go down to the bottom of your nation page and type in (for example) "purple fish gold" in the Search: Everything. Click on the green check mark on any nation you find in the search, so long as they have trade slots open. At the moment, you can only trade with four people at a time. Once you get a harbor (and you should), you can increase this by one.
I got a quick question for you CN players....
I received the following message from [name omitted]:
"Thanks for the trade.. If you promise to keep the agreement for at least 3 months I will send you 50 k"
I should probably mention that I accepted a trade offer from this gentleman yesterday (I have wine & oil, he has water & uranium). So is this new offer from him a reasonably good deal, or is it an attempt to hoodwink me? :inquisitive:
If you need the resources, that's great - basically free money to keep what you already want. However, uranium is a terrible resource for a developing nation, while water is decent.
I would go for it, unless you need a particular resource he sin't giving you. Right now he is giving you uranium though, so that isn't too bad :P.
Uranium is great for income if you set your My Government Position to "Our government will not sign the treaty because our nation believes in the use of nuclear technology to build power plants, however we do not promote the use of nuclear technology for weapons of mass destruction."
You won't be able to buy nukes, but you'll get the most out of your uranium. Then again, you wont be able to buy nukes for a very, very long time.
I've just joined the game and set my team colour to purple and applied on your alliance forums. So can I join too? :beam:
I'm not normally into internet games but this looks like a lot of fun. :2thumbsup:
Thanks for the advice, guys.
@Kekvit Irae: I realize I won't have access to nukes for a very long while yet, but I don't mind as long as this helps my economy. :beam:
To all new ELE members, please set your Alliance Affiliation (under Edit My Nation) to Eastern Legion Empire.
Yep, done. Sorry, I forgot to do it.
