Deguerra, one small request : Could you modify te lion in my CoA and use one of those in the CoA of Ludwig (Seems more martial...) and make tongue and claws in red
done. see first page.
Thanks a lot...This is exactly IT !!!
:beam: I'm glad! :2thumbsup:
Alright there deguerra?
So things have solidified with young Vringas.
Given the recent story and background what do you think you can conjure up?
I've got to finally bury Arnold and move on.
Hey AG.
Nice story :2thumbsup:
Not sure how sincere his conversion is, but if not it would be cool to hide some sort of Islamic reference in your shield.
Beyond that, the only things that spring to mind are references to the Basileos or the Komnenoi, although those would again need to be subtle, or references to Bucharest. I suppose something Egyptian, but non-Islamic could also be included.
I'll have a search around, let me know what you are thinking.
Re Islam, at the most subtle, we could work the colour green in prominently. If we are trying to be a little more suspect, could work the" Shahada" (declaration of belief) into a border or corner somewhere. This of course, again, is assuming Apionnas remains Muslim.

Definately something subtle should be referenced but not too overt. A declaration is probably too strong.
He will be converted. There will be no doubt about that...what he feels behind the "Ceremony" will be an ongoing theme and part of his story.
Something more based on imagry rather than and writing would be prefereable.
Perhaps a sublte reference to the cresent moon?
well actually, as you may have noticed the crescent and star is on the Basileos' banner, and certainly not for its more modern connection with Islam. It actually represents the city of Constantinople.
The theory is that the Crescent and star were taken over by the Ottomans after they took Constantinople, and that it became associated with Islam through them.
Of course, that gives us all the more reason to work it in :D I'll see what I can come up with. What about other things? Is there any main theme for the shield?
Alright so that is good to know about the Cresent Moon and Star.
That's a start.
His back story includes service in the Egyptian Sultan's Mansuriyya regiment. This was a real unit so I'll check for any colours, if you could do the same then we have some imagry and colours to work on.
Also any reference to colours used by the Mamluks can be introduced.
While I still have feeble claims on Pontic land and am not yet crushed by heretic rebels I'd really like to add some reference to Pontus into the Komnenodoukai shield of Pavlos. Don't know yet whether the Eagle should go though or the Cross, or maybe just superimpose something on top?
I'll go looking for some stuff, but from what I've seen so far from you deguerra you seem to find really nice stuff on yourself too, so give me your best shot! :beam:
Hey AG. and Ilturalde. I'm a tad busy with real life and weddings atm, but I'll get to both of you once things cool down. :2thumbsup:
Thanks for the update deguerra.
Take your time.
I do have an idea now. Crimson and Navy or Light Blue seem to be the colours I've settled on.
A combination of Cresent and a 7 or 9 pointed star.
Is that enough help?
excellent. I can get to work with that.
With references to the Emperor as you have stated perviously.
Thanks deguerra :2thumbsup:
ok AG, I've gone for something simple, because I often think simple turns out quite well and because that allows you to build on it. Let me know what you think so far:

on to you now Ilturalde :2thumbsup:
Ok. Pontos (Pontus). This one is actually quite interesting in terms of etymology. Apparently (and I know very little about classical languages) Pontos in Greek refers to the sea, more specifically referred to any sea beyond the Aegean and thus became associated with the Black Sea. Hence the connection the the later Kingdom.
In Latin, if memory serves, Pontus means bridge.
I rather like the imagery of this, so if I could somehow combine the sea and bridge into the Komnenodoukai Arms then I think that might look good. Will see how I go.

I am rather proud of how that turned out so I hope you like it, but if not do let me know.
AG, I didn't like the red myself but thats apparently what tone crimson is :P Will do!
Hmm, the colour is still a bit rosy because of the filter that goes over the top at the end. Let me know if you want it more red:

Neeeed more red, give me more red....
and can we make the cresent moon thinner and a little more angled?
i.e.

I am amazed, I truly am!
After reading your first point I was starting to think of something that had like a bridge with some wavy lines to mark sea or water under it, but what you did totally blows my head off! The way you incorporated it into the existing Komnenodoukai is also great! I love it, honestly! :2thumbsup:
Thank you very much for it, now the only thing left to do is get those provinces back! :beam:
And the way you brought in the mountains too, once again, very nice!
AG:
Like so? I toned the filter down a bit as well which preserves the red and keeps the blue nice and deep.

Thanks! Anything for a Wheel of Timer :P Here's the siggy version:

Oohhhhhhh Hhhhaaa
That's looking very nice deguerra.
I'd say we will stick with that and see what happens. Excellent stuff.
I have a request..
A small one and nothing fancy...
The red two headed eagle on a white shield.. A golden star on top of it.. laurel crown to surround it(just like in the greek coat of arms)..
cool. Here you go:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
will get to yours later Ibn Khaldun. Did you want it as a subshield of the wonderful Asteri arms, or are you going to forsake all allegiances to the house and declare yourself a traitor by using your own. :clown:
I am just kidding. Whatever you want, I am fine with :2thumbsup:
I don't consider myself a traitor if I want my own coat of arms :inquisitive:
But it actually was meant as a subshield to the Asteri one..
The star in it could be like the one in the Asteri shield..
And perhaps an orthodox cross there when the two laurel branches are connected?
I was just kidding :2thumbsup:
Will see what I can whip up.
