Why does one have to follow the other? As far as I know, there were no good anesthetics in Europe (at least after the ancient era) up until the discovery of Nitrous Oxide. A lot of people suffered terribly under that knife.

Many ancient cultures practiced surgery and medicine with nothing better than wine and herbs. Surgery does not imply painkillers. Many people back then were more accustomed to pain in their daily lives than us anyways.
I'm just gonna ignore this debate and answer the OP's question.
No, I do not use the modesty patch. The EB Team meant for them to be naked, so, they're naked. I am not offended or made uncomfortable by pixeled genitalia.
I wouldn't play EB when girls are around anyway, and as long as I explain that it's due to historical reasons, my parents are fine with it.
/me glances at user title.
IMO, anyone who finds nudity to be terrible, immoral and horrifying but is fine with watching guys chop/slash/hack/stab each other to death with all manners of nasty weapons needs to see a psychologist and FAST. Or maybe just go stand nude in front of a mirror and force yourself to look until the shaking stops...
(I have no problem with either. Bring on the virtual violence and nudity.)
If you were serious about what you put there, then I must say, I have finally found someone like me. I would gladly swap an hour of EB for an hour with a girl, even more so because I have not had time to play EB since winter break in December!
So, I heard there was an issue with swastikas as well, during the game's development. And the EB team decided against it. However, the Iberian Eleutheroi & Rebels often have them, albeit more rounded versions. How so?
Swastikas are illegal in Germany, in any game.
Apart from that, I don't care.
They can still import games with swastikas in them, right?Quote:

And does that mean you would get arrested for watching Naruto?
I dunno, but maybe it is censored. No, that would be hard. I'm not sure.
But for games, remember Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade? Lucasarts, not the action game. They had to remove the swastikas pixel by pixel...
There are no swastikas in EB. The Iberian Rebel flag is actually a series of "whirling teardrops". The swatika appearance is basically a visual effect, mostly caused by the small size.

mlc82 already said that very well. I always wonder how is it possible that certain people consider various representations of nudity more offensive than various representation of violence. Is it because they really think that (pro)creation (human body as such and its propensity to fornicte) is awful, while destruction (killing and maiming other human beings) is something noble?
Unfortunatelly, such outlook is not confined to "certain people" but rather established and sanctioned by our society and institutions, which apparently find graphic indiscriminate and sensless violence perfectly O.K. for children but is outraged to see a naked breast (not to speak about real "pornography") despite the fact that under our garments we are all naked and vastly more people are supposed to fornicate eventually than to massacre others. It is hypocrisy pure and simple, but also an example of various manifestations of the darker sides of human nature.:disappointed:
Erich Fromm (especially in his Anatomy of Human Destructiveness) would have much to say on this issue...:book:
America is weird like that but people will do what they do.
