I don't like to break the whole immersive aspect, but I feel I must point out that words such as "dear" are open to interpretation as to how they are pronounced due to accents, whether English is the mother tongue and other factors.

In some cases, "dear" is pronounced as a two-syllable word, in others it is pronounced in such a fashion that the second syllable isn't really a syllable at all but a demi-syllable. On occasion it can be a single syllable.
