Re: Kung Fu Mafia III (IN PLAY)
Pah. Cowardly.
The last time I did writeups during a game (and the ONLY time, might I add) was the Fight for Inishmore, where I intentionally disguised my own style and did all the writeups. The writeups were totally, totally lame and boring. That is why they weren't traced back to me.
I wouldn't pass off the honor of doing my writeups onto anyone besides myself. And I'm also done with hiding my style. If you see a long, humorous or particularly gory writeup, that would be me.

Re: Kung Fu Mafia III (IN PLAY)
Beskar --
I had some issues with that post of yours. People come out making arguments (accurate ones) for why it is particularly good for Townies to make real votes in this game (on both an individual and a Go-Team basis), and your immediate reaction is to try to find problems with that idea. I find that extremely suspicious in itself. Then we add to that the fact that the substance of your objection, as ATPG has already pointed out, is questionable at best.
The Ninjas may be allowed to attack each other -- Sasaki hasn't clarified. They may or may not risk actually dying if they try that. OK, there are some unknowns here. But the absolute worst case is that we must take the "confirmed Townie" pool with a slight grain of salt. But this isn't any win-win for the Ninjas. To attack one another (if it's allowed), they must:
-- give up a potential Townie kill that night
-- perhaps risk the attacked Ninja dying
-- leave enough of the actual confirmed Townies alive to provide cover for their mole
All of these things are good for Town. And your other objection, that they might want to go after the confirmed to remove them from the pool -- well of course they will, but given we can only have those confirmed in the first place if the Ninjas fail their kills, this is also good for Town. And that comes right back to the base point -- the best odds to GET confirmed Townies in the first place is for Townies to put their votes on Ninjas (in addition to all the other ways to gain points).
It's unquestionably a pro-Town suggestion, and your first instinct was to pooh-pooh it. That reads Scum to me, the first really good lead we've had. So I voted you. I don't anticipate changing it.
-

I'm not, actually, though I suppose I should say so explicitly. Mafia love to make "pro-Town" suggestions, if they think it won't hurt them too much. But that can go either way. Beskar's response, on the other hand, is much more likely to come from a Ninja than a Townie.

So is what you are doing.
Everyone has their own playstyles, and with Holmes being a big factor back in the day for quite a few of us longer term players, we know we can't stick to a playstyle.
Mafia try to appear as townies, low risk style. Going out and attacking people draws attention, but possibly draws attention away from you later.
I don't see what he has done as scummy.
I'm off to get some sleep, I get audited at work in... 9 hours.

Re: Kung Fu Mafia III (IN PLAY)
On the contrary, I think it's one of the most Scummy things out there. Someone makes a pro-Town suggestion, and you (that is, Beskar) go "but but but ... flail about with lousy reasoning" ... that's supposed to be not Scummy?
Anyway, I made the mistake of giving that sort of behavior a pass in a recent game, thinking Mafia would at be at least a little cautious about opposing suggestions that are clearly in Town's interest, and I was wrong. Not letting it pass a second time.

You know there is a actually a line, there is disagreeing with some one then there is trying to insult them.
I draw a massive fallacy in your argument, any sane Mafia would kill (or in this game, attempt) to kill any confirmed innocents straight away, because lets be honest, get to late game and you got those "confirmed innocents" and the "unknown", the Mafia would instantly be in hot water. Thus, your whole idea of a "Confirmed Town" will not be there (hence the flaw).
It isn't lousy reasoning or "but but but". It is more pointing out the big flaw in your plan. Sorry that pointing out this flaw hurt your master plan but really... Askthepizzaguy however did raise some good points, about even if the Mafia did do that, there would be certain advantages to it, this is called a "positive contribution" to the discussion, opposed to attacking some one.
I then agreed to his points and conceded to it, which was another way at looking at the situation (opposed to the one you suggested). Ergo, using your point and by the criticism and discussion that followed, we actually do as a town, have a good basis and point which puts the Ninja in a really awkward position.
Now for alternative hypothesis, are you a Ninja trying to prey on what you might perceive as an easy target using a flawed reasoning of your own as a basis, or is it more of a personal vendetta?

Why?
Given players of roughly equal skill, as we all start off as, in a duel one of them wins and one of them loses (or in Reenk's case, both). Coming off of the 50/50 win, she may have a slightly better duel score and thus have slightly better than 50/50 odds.
When you flip a coin and it lands on "heads" twice in a row, is it odd in any way? No... nor would it be if it happened 5 times in a row. That's the thing about flipping a coin; the result is not totally predictable. It doesn't go "heads, tails, heads, tails". Sometimes there are streaks, and it is all perfectly normal.
Vote however you please; the coin flip evidence doesn't make for a good bit of reasoning though.

I will be pretty frank ("Hello Frank!"),
I am tired and been up over 24 hours and I am going to bed. While there are people I am more interested in voting on, I don't really have much to go on (for incidence, some really susipicious overly suck-up posts, feel free to look back for them).
As the long has a chance of ending soon, and it is pretty late to start a case, and when my own participation in the game is on the line itself, I am going for this vote. If the round doesn't end, I will most likely make a case against another target this morning/afternoon my time when I wake-up.
Vote: Renata
As a posted earlier, either a Ninja trying to divert susipicion from themselves, or personal vendetta due to pointing out a flaw in the original argument or some variation between the two. It was interesting to see gross misinterpretation of what occurred, and a complete malformation of what was said, in efforts to try to get me lynched. So I can only suspect a suspicious agenda.

Okay, here's what you actually wrote, in response to the two comments by ATPG and me.
Quote:
Then the Mafia would obviously exploit this by feigning kills on each other or by making sure they get killed.
This was in response to both of us arguing that abstention made no sense for Townies in this game. We gave multiple reasons for that, which boiled down to: votes for Ninjas give you points; points help you survive kill attempts; survived kill attempts help Town.
Whatever the flaw in the details of what I said, the basic concept is solid. Actual votes (as opposed to absentions) help Town by increasing the number of Townie votes placed on Ninjas. In turn that makes it harder for them to kill us, which could make a big difference over time, in several ways. Yet you didn't acknowledge that aspect at all; you just pointed out a perceived flaw in one possible consequence.
That's what I'm objecting to, what I find scummy. A pro-Town suggestion was made (pro-Town regardless of whether I'm right or not about confirmed Town), and your snap reaction was to characterize one aspect of it (incorrectly, as ATPG pointed out) as something Mafia could exploit, never even addressing the core of it.
Quote:

I'll just point out that you never said anything about ATPG's points being good ones until after I had voted you, which was a pretty decent time lag. Here's what you said then:
Quote:
Well, since are are talking about "confirmed innocents", wouldn't the Mafia try to make sure 'they' died? I mean, that is pretty basic stuff. Though however, Pizzaguy did mention the benefits of this happening.
Calling this agreement and concession is a bit of a stretch, but OK.
Regarding the confirmed Town thing, by the way, I'll concede you're right to an extent. The Ninjas will, if they're smart, try to remove as many "survivors" as they can. It's not impossible they'll be able to get them all, at any given time. But they do already have two on their hands, which means if they want to get rid of them, their choices for this phase are already constrained. That's good for us. This time it was apparently down to sheer horrible luck on the Ninjas' part. Down the road it might be the success of Townie voting that makes the difference.
Quote:
Now for alternative hypothesis, are you a Ninja trying to prey on what you might perceive as an easy target using a flawed reasoning of your own as a basis, or is it more of a personal vendetta?
Beskar, honestly, how could I have a personal vendetta against you? I don't even know you! As for the other part, it isn't the case, but there's really nothing I can say about that. People will have to judge for themselves if it looks more opportunistic or more reasoned. But seriously -- vendetta?

But to your other comment, yes, abstaining is a really stupid idea, though I have to be honest, do the Mafia get points for voting eachother? I would automatically presume a no, but it would be funny to watch the Mafia go about voting for each other in all the rounds, to power themselves up.

It seems Renata and Beskar had a disagreement. In the end, more people were on Beskar's side, and Renata was brought before the old man to have the symbol painted on her forehead.
*************************************
Andres was strolling the outskirts of the temple, when he heard the rustling of bushes behind him. Andres smiled and simply spoke “I have been waiting for you.”, the man following him was caught slightly off-guard, but regained posture and took out his sword.
Andres turned around and saw him “Ah... I never have expected you, looks like your rush for revenge has gotten the better of you.” Andres stood up-right, extending one of his arms and placing the other behind his back, ready to face his opponent.
The other man looked a little weaker, and sweating at his forehead, but he managed to plunk up the courage, to do what is right. He spoke loudly towards Andres “My name is Sasaki Kojiro, you killed my father. Prepare to die.”
Andres lunged forward at his would be assassin, and ‘Sasaki’ raised his sword to guard, however, it was a FEINT! Andres quickly turns and runs away from his attacker. ‘Sasaki’ gives chase, following after Andres, as he kept running towards the temple.
Andres was halfway there, until he flew forwards, tripping over a rope. He looked up seeing a dark shadow of what appeared to be an eight legged spider. He turns around and ends up confronting ‘Sasaki’ again. “I say again...” ‘Sasaki’ begun “My name is Sasaki Kojiro. You killed my father. Prepare to die!”
Fight broke out between ‘Sasaki’ and Andres, it was clearly an equal battle, the difference in skill this time was evened out due to the presence of the sword. ‘Sasaki’ goes in with a right-hand slash, which was dodged by Andres, ‘Sasaki’ quickly changes blade hands, to make a finishing blow, but the switch was his fatal mistake, Andres was too skilful to fall for such a simple trick and kicked ‘Sasaki’ backwards onto the ground. Andres goes over and kicks the sword out of his hand, and puts his foot on ‘Sasaki’s windpipe. Andres proclaimed “You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders” looking at the horror in his defeated opponents eyes “Never go against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ahhh!”
Andres tricks to pick himself up, and runs around, he again sees the shadow of what appeared to be a giant spider. “You guessed wrong”, the shadow spoke, and as Andres eyes focused on the face of the creature, the vision of the cruel eye and wicked grin on the face struck him at the very core of his being. “No... it can’t be...”, the grin on the face got wider as he rips the robes Andres' is wearing with his blades, leaving a bloody kanji on Andres’ chest.
Andres awoke later in his bed, sweating. He fell backwards, relieved it was a dream, however as he began to get up, he felt a searing pain in his chest, he looked down. Today was no dream.

Five non-votes and two abstentions? I'm disappointed.
If there are any connections between the people I voted and the people who voted for me or encouraged doing so, Town might want to look into it. I had two duel wins and a riddle victory, plus had voted three people (CDF, Double A, Beskar) in situations where I would get two points if they were Ninjas. I must have been near the point lead among Townies if that was the case, if not in it.
Plus, there's Beskar himself. Still scummy there.

Re: Kung Fu Mafia III (IN PLAY)
The write-up clearly demonstrates there was a kill, but no write-up for that kill. However, if you look, one of the kills were clearly written-up, so presumingly, the kills were done by different individuals. As Renata also mentions, there were 5 people who did not vote. Going on a limb, presume those people were busy, they might not have had time to do a write-up or simply cannot be bothered. Beefy187 for incidence once claimed never to do write-up's due to his grammar and non-native English, but is currently away. AVSM on the otherhand has been on the forum in his own game for incidence, but again, is known for simply not caring. CDF hasn't been around, so I will just presume he is busy and reason why no vote for him, Khazaar always lurks. As for scottishranger, other than two kills attempts and surviving both, he otherwise has not been a mention at all in the thread.
From the list of names, I would suspect AVSM and Khazaar the most. Since there is solid prove AVSM has been around (his own minimafia), I would take the gamble on him.
Vote: AVSM

And there are three ninjas left as they kill 2.
It is a classic in the USA, and widely watched and known among even those just born in 1987.

Could be worse, Sprig. At least you were "killed" by actual Ninjas. In my case it was probably most Town.
