Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
For the record, since Memnon supports Montmorency for the shirt, I cannot support Montmorency for the shirt.
Sorry. Memnon's group has gotten plenty of people to have the shirt, and I don't want you choosing who gets the shirt next. You're disqualified because you have a conflict of interest. I can't trust Montmorency's results fully, for obvious reasons.
-
Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
And I noted that if Pizza is Mafia, his scan of Memnon would likely mark him as Mafia. This would end in the town wasting 3 lynches on Memnon, Johhog, and Populus. Which would cost town the game.
Believer, how about you read the very first post in this thread, detailing the rules. Specifically, Zack's response to Subotan. I bet you're just mad about the chess remark.
-
Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
New plan. Pizza gets the shirt. Knock yourself out. THEN we scan Pizza. Especially if he doesn't get killed. Sound good?
Unvote; Vote: Pizzaguy
Edit: Yes, I realize that this is technically the old plan.

Well first of all, I'm town. :smug:
Secondly, you don't necessarily auto-lynch Memnon even if I find him guilty. You scan me next.
Thirdly, ummmm what if I were somehow mafia with Memnon? Me scanning him and finding him innocent doesn't mean we aren't both guilty.
Such sloppy deductive work really scares me guys. Tighten up.

You have gained an experience level. Montmorency is evolving! Press B to cancel.
Montmorency evolved into Super-Ultra-Mechamontmorency.

Wait, I almost missed this entirely.
Why did you vote for Montmorency in the first place?
We're now in our third day, these votes for no reason need to start having reasons attached to them, thus negating the no-reason part from now on.
Now you voted for Warman too, and while I'm not objecting :smug: there technically should be reasons for that one as well.
I need answers to this.

I really had no reason to vote montmorency, it was really just a gut feeling(guess). I changed to warman because he's been quiet and his name kind of annoys me. I didn't realize we were at the point where votes had to make sense yet. Besides, I don't really have a good profile on him or any of the other lurkers yet.

See the main reason I don't trust you or Johhog is posts like this. Thats an awful lot of words to say "It's a random vote". I know it's your first game, but your posts reek of being scum trying too hard to look helpful.

Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
I'm not exactly a veteran here (yet), but my feeling is that when new players act scummy, it's because they're - well - new. Has there ever even been a precedent for a first-timer being Mafia?
Johhog claims to be experienced though.

Mafia are selected randomly. There is as much a chance of them being mafia as anyone else.

Alright, statistics trump intuition. I guess for every outlier like Visorslash, there would be someone who rolls Mafia on their first game.
Memnon is irrelevant until we get Pizza scanned. But, if there are 4 Mafia, they could easily teamkill Pizza tonight and we would just assume that he's innocent. Memnon (and maybe Populus; Johhog is dying today anyway) would be clear until the endgame.
There are too many levels of WIFOM here. I'm afraid the prospects for town are not good. :worried:
-
Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
How am I "dying today anyway"? Sorry if this sounds aggressive, but everyone who is voting me needs to learn some game theory, considering that I will be confirmed town tomorrow.

Ideally we would simply discard the investigation mechanic altogether, as it's untrustworthy. However that won't work since we're forced to use it and townies typically love them some investigation results.

Re: Three Wolf Moon [Sign-Ups]
B_Ray: "Usually Askthepizzaguy is the life of the party, but he's been suspiciously quiet this whole time. Perhaps he's afraid he'll reveal his murders?
Askthepizzaguy: "Oh, come on, man! That is LAME!"
Askthepizzaguy then went on to dominate the conversation for several hours, screaming himself hoarse.
ATPG: "This "shirt-scanning" is all a big hoax, people! Memnon, and all subsequent shirt-holders, are complete and total scumbags! We should -- nay, we NEED to kill Johhog today!"
A couple of others hesitantly agreed with Mount Pizza, but most decided to cast suspicion on others. Like, to the extreme. I mean, practically no one could agree on anyone to kill today.
ATPG: "Oh, and give me the shirt, too."
Now, this was something everyone could rally behind! Everyone gladly voted Askthepizzaguy to have the shirt, and yet -- he was still almost killed. Some even thought Pizzaman should have the shirt, yet still die.
ATPG: "You're mine, Memnon. HEEHEEEHEEHEE!!!"
He then went on to cackle for the next twenty minutes, and by the time he was finished, everyone had gone upstairs, and he was the only person left in the main room downstairs.
ATPG: "Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have yelled at them all day, then capped it off by laughing uproariously like a maniac."
He shrugged, then went off to his own bed.
It is now NIGHT THREE!

Got to this late on Sunday.
Interesting argument from pizza, and I agree it would be a deliciouslsy devious trick by Zack.
Surprisingly, for me, memnon voted for monty without much support and then when pressured, voted for warman....a second vote for little reason in the same round. Does seem like squirming to me.
I would've vote memnon

Sorry I haven't been posting. From now on, I'll vote (but since school has started, don't expect a vote until the afternoon, or evening).

Seamus, I'd voted warman before, and I the Monty one was just purely random, I would say attempting to avoid lynches would be a goal for any player, anyway I'm now premium lynchbait, so at least I survive this night when pizza hopefully scans me
-
Re: Three Wolf Moon [Sign-Ups]
I pretty much hate myself for not changing my lynch vote last time I posted. It seemed like Johhog was clearly in the lead at the time.
Also, 5 people not voting? What the crap.

Ugh, don't I know it.
I recently had an issue over on another board with 5 whispered detective results, or so we were led to believe, every round in a large game. We were getting detective results out of the sky itself.
Yeah, that's real trustworthy.
Well, turns out 2 of those were from "crier" roles. They were roles that would whisper their alignment to people. Guess what the scum whispered to people? That they were townie.
And that's not even the bestest part. Another one of the scans said a dude was innocent, another person was innocent, and that a third person was guilty.
Well, we lynched the scum who cried townie, then we lynched one of the supposed innocents and they were also guilty.
We haven't mislynched once since those false detective results came in. Of course, I was screaming to the heavens that they were very likely fake for 2 rounds in a row, so maybe that had something to do with it.
Townie lurve investigation results. I don't hate them, but I do hate the way we typically use them and I hate that we rely on them so much. If you keep track you will also find that scumbags claim false detective results almost as often as real detectives do.

Re: Three Wolf Moon [In Play]
Blackadder's scan in NCfOM was an example of a perfect investigation. One investigation, a near-unanimous lynch, and down goes a mafioso.
Though I suppose that's why I have a hankering for more games with reveals upon death. :/ I'm surprised that more don't feel the same way, given that it's human nature to hate uncertainty.

On 2 votes though. You guys pretty much deserve to be messed with at this point.
That said, I am Pizza, not fluffy, so I'll play it straight and be a good townie. Though why I should do that when people would vote me to die, and vote me the shirt, is beyond me.

Re: Three Wolf Moon [Sign-Ups]
Askthepizzaguy was sound asleep, confident that the shirt would protect him from any who sought to do harm.
The dark figure that strode in his room sought to prove Pizzaman wrong.
The figure crept up to ATPG's bed, then carefully slit his throat. To his frustration, Pizza's throat appeared to have cut, but he continued to breathe normally. Puzzled, the figure lifted Askthepizzaguy's shirt, stabbing him many times in his torso. Still confused at Askthepizzaguy's continued breathing, the figure snuck back into his own room.
-------
That morning, everyone noticed that today, only one person was missing.
Askthepizzaguy.
A few minutes later, he strolled down the stairs.
Askthepizzaguy: "Great news everyone! I just found out that Memnon is town! Now, it's time for someone else to have a turn with the shirt."
Askthepizzavolcano then proceeded to take the shirt off.
As soon as it was off, he promptly collapsed into a heap on the stairs.
It is now DAY FOUR!

Re: Three Wolf Moon [Sign-Ups]
I just thought of something.
Your mileage may vary, but my murder proves I'm townie, and my scan proves three people are townies.
Which means I managed to not get lynched based on nonsense this time. Just barely, and it was mind-numbing how close it was.
Now let's see:
bestrfcplayer- probably gonna be replaced and stuff
Johhog -- Scanned Town (N1)
Memnon -- Scanned Town (N3)
Populus Romanus -- Scanned Town (N2)
So who does that leave....
B_Ray
Believer
Ishmael
johnhughthom
Montmorency
Seamus Fermanagh
Tratorix
Yaropolk
Warman
And what do I see:
Quote:
TALLY:
Johhog: 2 (JHT, Tratorix)
ATPG: 2 (B_Ray, Ishmael)
Memnon: 1 (ATPG)
Montmorency: 1 (Believer)
Warman: 1 (Memnon)
Abstain: 0
Not Voting: 6 (bestrfcplayer, Montmorency, Populus Romanus, Seamus Fermanagh, Yaropolk, Warman)
bestrfcplayer will be replaced if he doesn't vote next Day Phase.
SHIRT TALLY:
ATPG: 7 (ATPG, Believer, Ishmael, Johhog, JHT, Montmorency, Tratorix)
Seamus: 1 (B_Ray)
Montmorency: 1 (Memnon)
Not Voting: 5 (bestrfcplayer, Populus Romanus, Seamus Fermanagh, Yaropolk, Warman)
Ishmael- voted for me to die, and also gave me the shirt. Makes no sense.
Montmorency- Late on the shirt wagon.
Tratorix- Late on the shirt wagon.
B_Ray- Voted for me to die
Believer- Usual Believer.
johnhughthom- went for Johhog and gave me the shirt rather easily yesterday.
Seamus Fermanagh- Hasn't been posting much.
Yaropolk- Hasn't been posting much.
Warman- Hasn't been posting much.
Now which of these is the scummiest. That's the big question for me anyway.
We have Montmorency and Tratorix openly questioning the results, but not acting upon it, and then voting me the shirt. Then I died. Both now also want the shirt.
Yaropolk wants the shirt and is voting for himself, rather uncharacteristically. Definitely not adding much to the discussion.
Ishmael's move makes no sense whatsoever. But it also makes no sense whatsoever from a scumbag, I think.... it neither clears him nor condemns him.
Johnhughthom feels a bit conciliatory towards me.
But really, I think I know which one takes the cake.

Vote: ATPG
He's a fine fellow. Why not?
By the way, B Ray, you were supposed to vote for me to get the shirt since I am "lengendary," not vote to lynch me. Naughty, naughty.....
Fortunately, we are all aware that "legendary" is only one little step up from "fictional." Any heroic character I possess is of the Flashman variety.
Voted to lynch someone, I'll assume they're townie for now, just because our luck isn't that good.
Second one to vote me the shirt, possible snuggling attempt. Actually seems to flinch when he gets a vote, and downplays his abilities.

Goes along with the shirt wagon, votes for someone who just got scanned as townie, and is second on the Populus wagon.

Moreover, your assumption of one mid-game lynch in your metric is optimistic in practice. Read over some of Sasaki's comments on the no lynch route.
Populus squirmed enough for now. Unvote: Populus; Vote: Montmorency.
You're just too willing to let the mafia set the pace. Believer too, with his minimal vote support and third on the bandwagon status, also bears some evaluation.
Arguing against the No Lynch, and using not-present "legendary" Sasaki Kojiro's arguments, if they were indeed his arguments, to bolster his point.
No Lynch late in the game reduces the chances of hitting scum, and early lynches increases the chances of lynching townies. It's entirely backward, actually.
That Seamus would go so far as to cite Sasaki to make this argument means he realizes without a credible source other than himself, arguing this point will look extra-scummy.
That means Seamus is worried about looking scummy. Which means he's scum.

In a bog standard 1 detective, I remember the numbers end up putting more pressure on the mafia, at least in the end game, by lynching to reduce the field early on. Brutal, but ends up working.
This plan relies far too heavily on investigation results we can't even trust, sacrificing our best-odds random lynches in the endgame to make it happen.
I don't trust it, and I don't trust Seamus would make this argument as a townie in this game.

Surprisingly, for me, memnon voted for monty without much support and then when pressured, voted for warman....a second vote for little reason in the same round. Does seem like squirming to me.
I would've vote memnon
Snrubbing me with the "I agree", then smeared some suspicion onto Memnon, who is now cleared.
Of course, Seamus also knew that I'd be scanning Memnon last night, which would make him look like an uninformed townie in the morning when the results came back townie.
This is all very good stuff.
Seamus is interested in early lynches, on townies, without much thought or effort put into those lynches, and is arguing for us to rely on the detective results we can't trust, in the endgame which is going to be approaching soon, and we haven't lynched any scums yet unless they're TheLastDays, and his response to me pointing out the deviously untrustworthy nature of the detective results is to go "interesting argument".
Now, I'd argue here that he hasn't taken much of a stand on anything, but that's wrong. He's taken a very firm stand on early lynches followed by relying on late detective results. And his argument was so scummy, he needed to cite Sasaki Kojiro to make it even sound like a townie would ever advocate such a thing.
Maybe Sasaki would, but he's also the type to insist someone is guilty for no reason after he's dead and demand someone's death. Which isn't particularly pro-town because there's no way to argue with a dead proven townie with no argument. Sasaki tested out many avant garde ideas, not all of them were particularly good, and I think they are especially wrong here.
If I were alive, I'd be voting for Seamus Fermanagh. He's no townie.
