In the general case it's not. Most rounds will naturally end up with an innocent being lynched. This rate will be even higher in the first couple of rounds where nobody knows anything. Not lynching in fact makes the Mafia kill have to kill one more to reach their goal.

On top of adding to the Mafia's work, a no lynch round doesn't even have to be wasteful. There can be plenty of discussion still. One thing that is true is that without the threat of lynching, people will be less likely to talk more and expose clues. Still, I think it's a good strategy, especially early game.

Saving your own skin is a sensible action for a townie. As a townie, you play for the town team.

Getting lynched as a townie, is not in the interest of your team ergo townies should not be willing to die.

The Town's advantages lie in its numbers and its ability to soak up kills inflicted upon itself. I believe that if the Town shows that it is unwilling to take the casualties killing itself then the mafia will just be able to hide in it for as long as possible without really contributing anything.

Oh, but I was not arguing against lynching. Imo, I think the town has better odds if they lynch a suspect in every day phase, including the first one.

It was your statement "townies should be willing to die" that I disagree with.

Anyways, Beefy posted at 21:04 (for me) that the lynching will be done in one hour.

Aries, at 22:01, just three minutes before the "one" hour, came in and voted for quintus

I know that even townies want to survive past the first round, but voting to get out of a tie just three minutes before the deadline is pretty suspicious to me.....so, FOS: Aries

Well, more like 2 days... but still, it is dragging on. Maybe the original end time was when there was still a tie, and so Beefy added an extra day for a time extension.....?
