Of course, I could tell my story if you want.
uranus was the final push by russian troops to surround the german army in stalingrad. saturn was the tank operation, cutting off german supply line to the south and west. it is about a normal sodier, a rifleman. if i can get on TWC i'll post the first part ASAP and link it here.
ok, i have the first chapter up. heres the link:

Bugger, I should stop mixing them up. :P
I'm looking forwards to it. Stalingrad is one of my favourite battles too.
yah, for some reason i only like western history, but i love russian history as well. they are jsut so cool (also we are part russian)
i love stalingrad and the russian front against germany. its so fascinating and ruthless. its a perfect example that in war there are no "good guys" or "bad guys". there are aggressors, and ther are defenders. sometimes its not even that, its just 2 nations at war.
Yeah, it was a particularly brutal front. Any soldiers who fought there (and, in fact, anyone who was actually there at the time) command my complete respect.
........................except germans.............................
Gross mistake; I think those German soldiers that defended Berlin until the last hours were about as valiant as the defenders of Stalingrad.Quote:
........................except germans.............................
Yup, hate the crime not the criminal Gandhi said. And anyway, this is a sensitive issue, but I think that it wasn't the German soldiers who were the villeins.....the real culprits were those who gave the orders.
the difference is that they were fighting for the reich, who were mostly evil. i admit some german soldiers did not necessarily believe in nazism, but the SS that defended the reichstag were horrible and evil
That's a common error. Most Germans who fought in WW2 were not Nazis. Wehrmacht |= Schutzstaffel.
They were just fighting for their country, not because they were evil or wanted to murder everyone.
This is a bit Backroomish isn't it? I'm sure Germans are no different from anyone else, their country just happened to be backing a very evil cause at the time.
im not saying the actual soldiers are evil, just the high up ones that are super loyal and uber nazis like the SS and whermacht
I really recommend you getting into music, if you aren't already. IMO today's new pop, rap, and hip hop isn't good enough for our new generation to look up to.
I find, that there's nothing more soothing and more relaxing than listening to music. In fact, music is definitely a reason why I would never commit suicide... it could become yours too. :2thumbsup:
Look at it my way: every politician is an evil kind of guy. :laugh4:
Glad to see you're hanging in (Sports would be a good way to bring action into your bored life ;) )! Since this has turned into an history discussion, I'd say to close the topic and move the discussion to Backroomm or the Monastery.
No, you said that "some soldiers did not necessarily believe in nazism". Further, you think "SS and whermacht" were "uber nazis", which is a bit stupid since organisations cannot be nazis, only persons can.
Well, if you want to give your life a meaning, you could study history and read some books instead of just watching History Channel or that crappy Hollywood movie about the Russian sniper. You could also learn that there's actually a big difference between the SS, the Waffen-SS and the Wehrmacht. And that 99% of the German soldiers did not fight because they were so evil, but for their country and because they were told so.
No more political discussions or I lock the thread and/or move it to the Backroom. The Frontroom is not the place to prove Godwin's Law.
i think its fine to close this. nthing productive is coming from it....
and to Centurio Nixalsverdrus, i dont even know what movie you are talking about.
You know, I suggest you play Men of War. It's got a huge Soviet campaign, although it takes a lot of patience.

I am, of course, assuming that your parents are willing to buy you games. Still, you should keep it in mind.

You'd be surprised how decent some of it actually is. For example, I'm also a fan of AC/DC / Metallica (If you like those guys, you'd like Nirvana [Kurt Cobain] or Radiohead). However, rap is just poetry set to a beat; it's just a style of getting a message across. And early rap is all about poverty, racism, civil rights etc. Real struggles that people have to endure in their everyday lives. Of course, a lot of the rap that we come across nowadays is bull:daisy1:, but that's due to commercialisation and capitalism.
I'm 16, and a couple of years ago, I was in a similar situation to you. I felt crap, I thought everybody hated me, I would be a virgin forever etc. But then I realised that if people weren't going to like me because I was skinny/had glasses, then they probably weren't nice people to begin with, and therefore not worth being friends with in the first place. I found my own group of friends, and although I now go to a different school, we sometimes hang out together now, and I'm glad I met them. Two things to remember
1. People generally aren't unfriendly. People like having friends, and although you might have to make the first effort to become friends, it generally isn't that hard to maintain a friendship.
2. You may be being bullied outside of school. Best advice I ever came up with is the fact that the best way I could beat those SOBs was to persevere. To succeed. To make sure that nothing that they could do could stand in my way of achieving what I want to do. Because they will win by making sure you fail. And you can't ever let them do that.
Also, you say your parents have confiscated your xBox. Well, to quote Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life", "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" (Although considering you come from a Jewish family, I doubt you'll get the joke...Ahehehe! :sweatdrop:). Use that as an excuse to do something with all that free time. Tbh, grades aren't really that relevant at that age. If you've got the skills to do well anyway, you'll get in gear when get older. For example, you could learn a new language, an excellent way to meet new people and learn about new cultures (After spending a week and a bit in Germany, complete with Beertents, I can tell you that girls find the exotic foreigner quite, eh, ravishing :2thumbsup:). Or, you could practice a sport, beef up those muscles. Try out loads, you don't have to join the first one you pick. Make sure you go to every session once you've decided you like that one though. If you're tall and skinny, try running, or archery. If you're bigger, try rugby (American Football?).
And about the age you're at, I know exactly how you feel. Most of the people around you are/seem to be w:daisy1:ers, and you feel as if everybody hates you. And when it comes to girls; don't bother at that age. Srsly. Most of them are pretentious, stuck up brats at that age anyway. It takes time for them to realise that being a football player does not necessarily make for a good relationship. And when they do realise, that's when you'll come into the limelight.
Obviously, I'm not a professional psychologist. If you are still thinking of taking your own life, then please contact one of the help lines provided. However, I hope you understand what I'm trying to say and take it in.
Remember, only doubt holds you back from achieving what you should achieve.
Okay, at the request of the OP, this thread is closed.
