And TinCow, can't you use a spell which gives you an armor buff(-something-flesh)? So you can keep the robes with the mana regeneration?
Yeah, but I have the same problems with that that I do with a lot of the buff spells: I simply want to use that mana for damage instead. I feel like I survive better when I can put my enemies down as fast as possible, and I get into trouble (due to low-hp squishiness) the longer the battle lasts. Those buffs don't seem to give enough protection to justify the mana expenditure to me. So far I've got protection spells that are the equivalent of 40 armor and 60 armor, depending on level. Compare that to my Dark Brotherhood armor (with a couple Light Armor perk points), which gives me about 150 armor. The spells just don't seem to do much to help me survive for much longer, and they eat up the equivalent of a couple double blasts, which is often the difference between putting down an extra enemy before they can close to melee. So, I prefer to go in guns blazing and wipe everything out in a flurry of destruction, chugging some potions along the way when necessary.
Again, this is only an issue because I spend so much mana dealing damage and I want to use it for those purposes. For people who use melee or archery as a primary damage dealer, the mana costs of the buffs are probably less significant as you don't need to throw fireballs everywhere.
[edit] As a postscript, it occurs to me that some of my difficulty with buff spells from other schools may be because I haven't put perk points into them, thus making them cost a lot more mana. I suppose I could have done this, but if I did that I would have to totally neglect non-magic areas such as light armor, archery, and stealth, which have gotten pretty much all of my non-destruction/restoration perk points. So, perhaps those spells are more viable if someone is playing a 'purer' mage than I am.

Middle difficulty (Adept?) for the the first playthrough. Will go to max (Master?) on my second.

I'm specializing in archery/stealth/light armor and sneak attacking with bow and arrow seems to work pretty well.

Sounds about right. When I grew out of tanking taking down mages became a lot easier in several different games. The squishiness TC suffers from affects the NPCs as well. Get close and if possible, stun them and they don't have a chance.

Since I only did the beginning of the companion quests, this allowed me enough to get the Skyforged Steel Sword. Which is a very good blade. In my early Blacksmithing days, I improved it and thus it became "Superior" in quality, giving a nice boost to damage. Pretty much been using it the entire game.
I am currently level 20, and I still haven't come across better, but I decided my companion should have one and since then I picked up 2x +15% smithing improvement items and I had a +30% potion, so I thought "Let's give it a try".
Basically I now have two Legendary Skyforged Blade which is double their base stats (thus, 48 damage on them) which I am keeping one and giving the second to my companion. Just about to do my first dungeon with my new blade, but it looks like I made things simpler for me now.
This: +1.
The skyforged weapons are ridiculous, I have the battleaxe, op as hell. Dropping giants with a little bit of effort now, boosted the difficulty as a result. Playing as Redguard (adrenaline rush ftw!) Based on comments above I should try out magic, although I am loath too. Never enjoyed it, don't like the concept. Usually play a sneak-based archer. So all out attack redguard is a nice change of pace for me IMO.
Just grinded Blacksmithing to 100. I would highly recommend if you want to do the same, invest in Speech is a must. I recommend 2 points in normal speech and 1 point in Allure. This now allows you to buy mats and sell at par / profit (if they are opposite gender). I never did this and I poured like 20k in powerleveling it. leveling it is also based on quantity, not quality. Best way I found is doing Iron Daggers and Leather Binds.
My Shield maiden is now fully equipped in Legendary Dragonplate armour. Unfortunately, didn't have enough scales (but plenty of bone..) to do a complete second set for my companion. Currently 403 armour rating, but haven't got too many points in Jugganaut yet.
Currently level 31.

31? Still 9 here, however I'm not planning to finish it quickly. Gonna enjoy it, over a long period of time :)
I find it a pity that you can (almost) exploit the game to be OP in a short period of time.

You can exploit any game. One "exploit" could be the internet as well. Again DOYPS.

Just think, you could have had that house in Solitude by now if you hadn't sunk all that money into levelling a skill that should be simple to max out over time with the items you harvest yourself, Impatient Beskie.
Skyrim story, (spoilers):
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
After the wedding you see above I met a guy in an inn. We had a drinking contest and, after adventures that included molesting a priestess and stealing a goat (no molestation of the goat, I hope....), I ended up in a temple in a completely different city, with no memory of the aforementioned events (unfortunately, I would love to play a grope the priestess mini game). After being told off and made to tidy up the temple I went in search of my drinking buddy, and my prize for winning the competition. In the village I stole the goat from I found out my wife was involved somehow, and now I'm off to find her. I haven't even spoken to her since the ceremony, I'm wondering is this some wierd Skyrim stag party thing, or did my "drinking buddy" concoct a cunning scheme to steal my wife?

I found my absolute favorite dungeon in the whole game, the only thing that rivals it is the north sea.
I did, due to that damn 75 angle field of view. Same story with Half-Life 2.
But bringing down console and type: fov 90
Made it all better.
There was something about changing it in an ini file. However that didn't seem to work for me.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
I really love the different and unique dungeons in Skyrim. I think these are even better than the ones in Morrowind. They're better designed, have some really fantastic traps, and have just the right smattering of unique loot as well. There are also some interesting 'stories' that are told about the dungeons with the placement of bodies, loot, random books, etc. Last night I was exploring a random barrow in the northwest, digging for extra Shout words and ended up on top of a mountain fighting one of the toughest monsters I've seen yet. After killing him, his loot included what I assume to be a unique light armor helmet that is actually a really freaky looking mask with 3 really strong enchantments on it. Finding something like that has just supercharged my desire to continue with the random explorations. My quest log is growing totally out of control because I always seem to be starting more quests than I am finishing. I'm at the point now where I'm just exploring random areas and doing whatever quests happen to be located in that area. It can often be days before I even turn a quest in, simply because I don't get back to the starting point very often. So much to do....

I was actually mentioning him earlier on.

Originally died like 5-7 times, simply because he is magic based and magic is my weakness. Cursing OP magic..
On the plus side, I managed to get hold of something to bring down Dragons. At the moment, everytime I see a dragon, they run away from me, so this is very helpful.

Motion sickness style? Only if using first person view for too long in open spaces... but I usually get sick with almost everything
The weird angle view just annoys me in small places when I need to interact with objects and stuff... will try this fov command, thanks! :book2:

Have you found any quests or books that mention him? I'm curious as to whether there's some story behind his presence there, or whether he's really just a random unique dungeon boss.
Even with my own OP magic, he was a major pain. I died about 3-4 times as well. His health pool is just unbelievably large. I ended up beating him by summoning a Frost Atronach, which he seemed to have difficulty killing. I just kept hammering away at him and chugging mana potions until he finally died.

I have, but a more tedious link. You know his name and the name of the item, but a bunch of certain NPC's keep mentioning it, somewhat out of context... Going to check the Wiki.
After checking Wiki:
Alright, those NPC's were mentioning him with good reason, however, there is more than one Undefeatable Foe it seems, there are 8. So you might not have fought the one I did.
I fought the one North-East of Whiterun, in the Mountain.

Yeah, I was a lot lower level at the time, but his fire/frost blasts used to hit me for 33% of my HP. Then he always put up a barrier to block my melee attacks and zoomed across the area. So it was effectively impossible for me to defeat him. I only ended up defeating him when one of my powerattacks on my 8th try knock him off a cliff, and then his spells simply hit the side of the cliff, and he was unable to zoom away, and it still took like 5 minutes of whacking away none-stop to kill him.

Yep, different ones then. Mine was west of Solitude. 8 sounds like the proper number to drop complete sets of both light and heavy armor, with each one holding one piece.

They are simply 8 different masks with different stats. Mine had Lockpick, Archery, and Alchemy 20%. Another one apparently at end of Winter College has +100 Magicka. There is even one in *spoiler* which surprised me... as you need the main questline to get there.

Does anyone know what the red Xs on the game map are? One of them looks to be at bout the right spot for the guy I killed, but I can see at least 16 of them which is too many for just these dungeons.

Re: Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim thread!
To all who have killed the enemies with the masks, they are the Dragon Priests, and they are very tough.
I only beat two so far, Krosis at Shearpoint (after killing the dragon there) and Vokun in High Gate ruins.
Vokun was easy because you find a very powerful mage within the ruins to help you.
Note: At the word wall at shearpoint, you learn a full set of words!\
EDIT: DO NOT SELL THE MASKS!
