Actually, Im glad the mission went on without me, and I'm afriad the "worst" has befallen me.

I regret that it appears I must lay down my bandit mask and cape, without ever having spilled blood or even looting a nickle. :(

Alas, I have not the time to plunder and rob...I have tried, but duty calls too frequently.

A pitty to hear that you have to retire. Bach's Bandits could have become a fameous gang, and I am sure your kids would have loved it ("Daddy, Daddy, what are you going to bring us this time....).
But, alas, that's life.

I guess with a game like this, there is bound to be a lively coming and going of players.
So, a new place is free for a bandit to sign up.



Octavian and Chimpyang
A somewhat unusual thought, a bandit beeing a lieutenant for a mercenary. It may sound a bit odd with regard to role playing, but if it helps to move the game forward, why not. You two are clan brothers anyway, I take it. So who knows, you could still end up on one side or the other together as the game goes on.

Oh, and Octavian, you can upgrade valor at a later stage, too. The idea is, that you give your troops a big pay-rise, which boosts their morale and makes them fight harder for you. Just as in real life (yea, right).

However, as it turns out, some of the commanders seem to have overreached themselves, or have not been able to do all the missions they were hoping to do. Some to a greater, some to a lesser extent.

Well, I had promised for this first month to give credit to everyone who needs it - given the fact that everything is still very new to all of us. However, that means that now some of the commanders are deeply in dept. These gentlemen will really be in need for some successful missions this month. For I cannot be so generous for a second time. So by the end of this month, a commander who cannot pay his men may loose some of them, and for someone who is still in dept,

Well, octavian, we currently have a "one mission at a time" rule. It is there to ensure that success in this game is not entirely based on having lots of playing time available. But if you manage to complete mission #5 in time and still no one else has signed up, then ok, you can have it then.

Ok, one of my existing captains knew someone who knew someone who knew some exiled clansmen in need of a living. Anyway, the short of it is that i have 'acquired' 60 more valour 2 highland clansmen in need of some food and a drop of the hard stuff. I had to break into my chest to pay for their passage from Scotland - to the sum of 289 Florins.

Guillame's band of mtd sergeants have agreed to forgoe more money from the chest until we can get our hands on a tasty shipment - i've heard rumours..

For several month Duncan McGregor, the fameous Scottish bandit, has been making plans and preparations to attack the castle of his old enemy, Lord Longshanks. He has gathered information about where in the castle the valuables are stored and has even build 2 catapults to attack the castle walls. Then, a few days ago, his plans were foiled and he and his men were captured by Lord Longshanks and his army. Now he has been chained in iron and is on the way to England for procecution. However, before his departure, he managed to send a message out of his prison, a letter describing the his plans and giving details of where the two catapults are hidden near Longshanks' castle. He sends word calling for a bandit to avenge him, carry out his plan and steal Longshanks' treasure.

Lord Longshanks, meanwhile, is getting rather nerveous. He can guess that word of McGregor's capture has spread and now he regrets sending all of his army to guard the transfer of the bandit to England. With his castle empty apart from a few servants, Langshanks is now seeking to hire a mercenary band to protect him, until his army returns. There are, after all, 1000 Florins worth of silverware in the main tract of his castle as well as 500 Florins worth of goods in the buildings outside the keep, in the frist entrenchment. So he is paying 900 Florins for a mercenary who will garrision and protect his castle and also offers an additional 200 Florins if a bandit attack is successfully repelled.

Summer, Western European, no time limit, Mercenaries = defenders.

This is a castle attack. As the defending troops cannot be routed, a defeat would be devastating for the merc. Therefor the rules for loosing units will not apply for defender's troops inside the innermost castle ring (the keep). Defender's units who are lost in this area can still be filled back up to strenght as if they had been routed.


The bandit can use one or both of the catapults for this mission. Using both may mean that he has to leave one of his other units behind, depending on howmany units he already has in his army.
The catapults are for this mission only.
They cannot be transferred (and, no, they cannot be sold for money eigther https://forums.totalwar.org/forum/no...icons/wink.gif )

I missed Steeleye last night. I had emailed him back for a time and he must not have seen my email. Tried twice last night but finally gave up. I think he is gone now at least his email said he wouldnt be back on till next weekend. So whats the next step here Nigel?

Well, its a pity you two didn't manage to do the battle before Steeleye's holiday. Seems it was not for lack of trying on either side, but timings were tight and sometimes it's just not easy to meet up at short notice.

Well, stricktly speaking you would have to wait until he returns to fight that battle. However, I realize that if a player goes on holiday (good thing for Steeleye to let us know, btw) while havnig a mission ongoing, he will block the other player from completing a desperately needed mission.

In such a case, the player who is left behind should be allowed to apply for an exception to the one-mission-atime rule, in order to be able to move on with the game. So if you want, Guy, you may sign up for another mission while Steeleye is away.



Shaka and Tiger
The same goes for you, by the way. You two have been trying to do mission #3 for quiet some time now, but it seems that circumstances are just too unfavourable (timezones, school times, work hours). So if you want to keep trying, ok. But if you want to take a second mission now, you can do that too.


The one-mission-atime rule is there to allow equal chanches of signing up, but it should not become prohibitive and get in the way of playing.
