If that happens, then there'd be something very wrong with the U.S. economy. Although a dollar is valued more in Vietnam than it is in the States because of the cheaper prices in Vietnam, it doesn't mean that a Vietnamese would consider 1 dong as the same as an American would value 1 dollar. This is because of inflation in Vietnam ever since Vietnam went capitalism. Other economies that have grown quickly experienced high inflation (such as Japan and South Korea). So when you see a 500 dong coin, don't think that it's worth a lot to a Vietnamese like you would consider 500 dollars.
Re: Will the dong overtake the dollar?
I like the pinkish hues of that Dong. It's also the right size to fit comfortably in one's hand. An American sized Dong would be too big.

Re: Will the dong overtake the dollar?
The Dong thread's creative juices are once again flowing and ready to burst uncontrollably onto the pages of the backroom once more. The dong may often be beaten, battered, and overused, but much like Anthony Weiner, it's value will rise, thrusting upwards, overtaking all, and leaving all other competitive monies drained and quivering around its base. So hold on to your dong with a good, strong grip!!! Its here to stay!!!
Re: Will the dong overtake the dollar?
The economy is Vietnam is going great, which must anger the Murica Ceptionalists who want to think that every place we don't agree with turns to a crap hole.
Nam has very friendly foreign ownership laws for small businesses and retiree properties, and it is one of the fastest growing expat communities in the world. Lots of Vietnam vets are going there. Ironic.

Two threads and years of back-and-forth, and I don't believe DevDave has ever shown us his dong, much less his preserved collection of dongs. Ridiculous.
Time to emulate your hero, Wiener, and show the internet your dong, sir.
Re: Will the dong overtake the dollar?
I for one would prefer a religions experience on that item and choose to believe rather than empirical assess the nature of DDs dong.

Nope, much like Jesus, unicorns, and the tooth fairy, my dong will remain a mystical shadow only to be conjured in the imaginations of the deranged...
