If that happens, then there'd be something very wrong with the U.S. economy. Although a dollar is valued more in Vietnam than it is in the States because of the cheaper prices in Vietnam, it doesn't mean that a Vietnamese would consider 1 dong as the same as an American would value 1 dollar. This is because of inflation in Vietnam ever since Vietnam went capitalism. Other economies that have grown quickly experienced high inflation (such as Japan and South Korea). So when you see a 500 dong coin, don't think that it's worth a lot to a Vietnamese like you would consider 500 dollars.
