and why would these ppl be scanning you?

Re: Capo di Tutti Capi IV
From my detective friend: Montmorency Unclear, Secura Criminal
I wonder if SisterCoyote is talking to the same person I am :D
I would like to point out I don't trust ATPG's Fatlington Police Department contact. Their Night 1 investigations seem like unlikely picks. I think those "scans" were fabricated sometime during day 2, when the importance of certain people were obvious give their claims legitimacy.
I know that statement is mildy confusing if you haven't been paying attention. But if you re-read day 2 and ask you those questions, it'll be pretty obvious.

Re: Capo di Tutti Capi IV
Unclear gives credence to the oddball comments from yesterday, anyway. Who were the PD scans?

What's a likely pick for a N1 investigation?

Re: Capo di Tutti Capi IV
People talking, people interacting, people known. Not some random new guy with 2 posts under his belt.

Why is a new guy with 2 posts less likely to be scum than someone actively talking?

Just for now. Tincow's concerns deserve a little air time. I'll be incommunicado for the next 12 hours, so like, don't get all impatient, interview people.
I could always take over your roleā¦

What the heck is this vote? Vote:Clitsome
OK - that post by Clitsome stood out for me too. Seems like the kind of joke one would only bother posting if one had failed already to kill Slysnake twice. Given that three separate sources have told me I'm barking up the wrong tree with the Stranger, I'm prepared to, unvote: The Stranger and vote: MRD because that dead TinCow said so.

Re: Capo di Tutti Capi IV
He's not. But it's the psychology of it all.
As a detective, you want your power to matter, and you'll tend to pick targets that seem likely, or where an innocent read could be consider important.
You have all these people talking and drawing attention on day 1, and you don't check any of them? Instead you go after the new guy with 1 post on day 1, but a major reveal on day 2.
The choice was too convenient.
A devil's advocate has pointed out the player in question is well known as a good player on another board, but that knowledge was a bit beyond my ability to obtain.
I remain distrustful of this FPD.

I don't trust them on general principle. Who even knows what player is sending those bulletins out, much less what their true purpose is?

Taking all bets that Pizza will get recruited by a mafia faction and rat out his whole network.

But no-one seems "likely" compared to anyone else. I think you're biased; others might actively stray away from scanning "known" people since they are always sccanned (and some of them are just about tired of it).

So, a good detective would instead choose to investigate targets that he believed would likely get checked by other detectives as well? The same people who expect to get investigated early in the game and thus stay inactive? Interesting strategy.
I assume, of course, that you're also very skeptical of your "detective friend" who gets unclear results. The rules make it clear that such results are very unusual for a detective, yet they seem to be popping up with surprising regularity for a game that's only 3 nights in. Why would that be?

I'm a n00b here, I only know the other people who came here from my home board (plus pizzaguy, who went there to bring us here). If I were a detective, I'd spend the first several nights scanning people who looked fishy because of things they said, not lurkers. (Well, maybe some of my fellow immigrants also, heh.) Lurkers tend to get offed one way or another, so if you scan one and then he turns up dead the next morning it's a bit of a waste.

Re: Capo di Tutti Capi IV
A webcam and a bottle and I will never live it down.
I'm actually completely unattached and have yet to perform any action on a night phase. In fact, I turned down night action invites from two people, one of of whom is now voting for me. I guess thats what I get for not joining the frat party, but I'm just not into frat parties any more because I can't handle the gerbils like I used to.
Getting wound-up for scanning criminal seems like a pretty unsubtle thing for a mafioso to do, but what do I know I'm just here for the chics, and I stopped reading 10 pages ago. This game is overwhelming
Vote: abstain

I really don't want to make hassles for our director who's got a lovely solo execution planned, so I'll vote: Chaotix. To be honest this is a bit of a selfish vote as well, as if a fellow who has openly professed to be forming a mafia group ends up winning, I'll kick myself.
