You are Loki: The God of tricks and pranks. The rebel God is a well known force often misinterpreted as evil. Loki made much mischief but also some good deeds.
You are a one of the Æsir and are currently hiding amongst the retinues of the kings at Hafsrfjord. You do not know who your fellows Æsir are. One of the traits of gods in hiding is their ability to completely hide from each other.
In the previous game you were given the task of making chaos. In this game you want revenge. Your adversary Heimdall is probably hiding in some retinue as well. He wants your blood.
You will aid the Jotun in their quest to get rid of the Æsir and the Kings, but you want your fun as well.
Every evening you can “visit” two members of the retinues of the Kings and “poison” their drink or food with Fleinsopp which you have enhanced with magic. These two unsuspicious humans will go crazy that round and will attempt to kill a person in the retinues of the King. Whoever that might be is completely random. It might turn on you as well.
Should such a person under the influence of fleinsopp stumble upon one of the Gods or Jotun they will not survive, but die horribly (the drugged person). That includes an attack on you as well.
Should you give fleinsopp to a God or Jotun, nothing will happen as they will be able to resist such things.
Holmgang ability: 100 against humans (guarantied win). 8 against other gods or Jotun.
For me, there were three key moments in the game. The first was my reveal in public. I didn't expect to survive longer than one or two rounds after my public reveal. It was particularly unfortunate that I had to be out of town for four days, right after my public reveal; but I felt I couldn't wait longer before people would call me out on lurking (which wasn't intentional, but caused by RL circumstances), which is uncharacteristic for me.
The second key element was contacting TinCow. I only knew he wasn't human; I didn't know if he was a God or a Jotun. If he would have been a God instead of a Jotun, we'd had a completely different game. Fortunately, he was a Jotun :2thumbsup:
Third was the previous round, in which we need to ensure that both Jotun would survive. If necessary, I would sacrifice myself; luckily, the town fell for the case against robbiecon and I had the satisfying pleasure to be on the winning side and survive the game.
Town shouldn't be too hard on themselves; for a large part, our victory is based on an insanely huge amount of luck. Randomness and chaos ftw :2thumbsup:

Well, bleh, could definitely have done better.
Thanks anyway to Sigurd for hosting and congratulations to the mafia on their performance
The timing of the kills of myself, Believer and Renata did seem like a mole, that it was Andres and his random kills... wow :laugh4:
Anyway it was great fun to read, and I'm just happy that in the end I decided not to vehemently pursue ATPG which might have created more problems (although reading the Jotun QT shows that it resulted in ATPG being left alive :S)

Really mean for Loki to AGAIN have cool powers. My Loki run is being filled with even more regrets. And glyphz gets Loki one game Jotun the next, TinCow gets two Jotun. :wall: So lucky.
Thank you for not killing me so early Jotun (though by the looks of it you considered it twice :stare:). I think in the last 7 games I've played I've been killed early except TimeCube where I was Mafia and another one where I replaced in. :mean: That couldn't happen to me in Midgard. Why did you kill Seamus so fast though? I know it was random but man, reroll...
Good job Jotun and good try town. Thank you so much for hosting this Sigurd.
You guys have no idea how hyped up this game was in my head... It's been 4 years. So much so it was unfair the expectations I had for it, and that I started getting restless even on a fast pace intro. But the middle of this game was one of the best ever and actually met those expectations. This game was basically as good as the first despite the novelty of the former even though my role in the first was my favorite of all time. I gotta give a shout out to GH and White eyes for a lot of that. And thanks again for hosting Sigurd. :2thumbsup:

That does remind me: why did you encourage everyone to believe that the fake "activity scans", including the one that supposedly cleared Diamondeye, originated with you and a Role PM you possibly faked? If you'd simply told people that TinCow had falsely claimed that ability, it would have helped.

Bah. I was right that one of the Jotuns was a king. Our whole network suffered a fairly epic collapse and Renata died immediately after you found out about her.
If we're gonna "have a talk" about that, let's also include all the folks who suspected me of being a Jotun based on my networking as well. Because I seem to remember a lot of fingers pointing in my direction, and an entire round wasted because we went for me and the vote got tied up.
Let's not pick and choose, let's have lots and lots of talks.

I admit I played this game with a bit of a bias.
Reenk wanted this game to happen so badly that I just couldn't ever point a finger at him for any reason.
I also figured Andres' revelation as Loki would be entertaining enough that it would be worth losing the game just to watch his antics.
I also stupidly thought Gyda wouldn't be a Jotun cover role. That was sloppy and stupid. I thought being semi-exposed Tincow would die eventually.

It's a mystery to me as well.
Most of the time, I'm a townie sincerely trying to catch scum and for some reason, I end up being lynched, after being wrongfully accused for several rounds in a row.
Then, in this game, I reveal as Loki. I post in a way that is clearly not helpful for the town. I don't cooperate, I don't reveal anything about my night abilities or results. Nobody asks for my role pm. Nobody asks what my abilities are. If they ask, I don't answer and nobody calls me out on it. As the games continues, it becomes obvious that I'm responsible for sending out naked maniacs who go on a killing spree each night. Basically, I openly behave as a scumbag and openly enjoy being a pain in the behind. I'm as good as openly killing people at night. And guess what? They let me live until the endgame. In the final rounds, I'm not even considered a suspect, except for some dead players who have been right for half the game and keep getting ignored.
:wall: ~ :laugh4:
Perhaps, from now on, I should always behave as a confirmed scumbag; sabotaging the town and being generally unhelpful. This will probably keep me alive until the last round in each game I play from now on :inquisitive:

I will then tell him that there must be an official ceremony to give him our blessing. I will lead Reenk out to the fjord, where I will wave my hands and freeze the entire surface solid. From both ends of the fjord, beautiful women will come skating out onto the ice, where they will begin to play hockey. Reenk will join one of the teams as its captain. He will score the winning goal, and his entire team of beautiful women will shower him with kisses and promise him a wonderful night. I will hand him an engraved cup and tell him that he has won the right to become a God.
At that point, another robed figure will come up from behind me and whisper into my ear. When he is done whispering to me, I will turn back towards Reenk. I will take the cup from his hands and tell him that management has informed me that he was officially traded to another set of Gods two days ago. This was before he won the cup, so we have to take it back. I then tell him we will arrange transportation for him to his new Gods. At that point, the ice under his feet melts and he falls into the water and drowns.
Also, this was what my W_E kill would have been if it had been game-over that night:

If this is the last phase of the game, please use this kill write-up for more fun:
-------------
After the Holmgang, Gyda approaches White_eyes. She has not forgiven him for challenging her to a fight the previous night. He refuses at first, but she slaps him and calls him a coward. White_eyes gets angry and draws his axe, and a fight begins. White_eyes is very powerful, and Gyda is clearly outmatched. She cannot stop his heavy swings and eventually she falls to the ground. She begs for mercy and cries a little bit. White_eyes takes mercy on her and does not kill her. Gyda is very impressed with White_eyes. He not only has incredible skill in battle, but also compassion. She tells him that he is a great man, greater even than Harald Hårfagre. She no longer wants the King of Vestfold, no, she has found the man she wants. Gyda grabs White_eyes and kisses him passionately and deeply. White_eyes is surprised, but Gyda is very beautiful and he has not been with a woman for a very long time. She sees him blush and laughs. "Follow me, you sexy man. I've got a surprise for you!"
She laughs again and runs off into the woods. He follows, but she is very fast and he soon falls behind. Eventually he comes to the edge of the fjord, and there in the water is Gyda. Her clothes are in a pile on the shore. She laughs at him again and beckons him to come into the water. White_eyes quickly strips off his cloths and dives into the water and swims to Gyda. She moves close, and he embraces her. He closes his eyes and puts his arms around her naked body. Something feels odd though. Gyda's back is hairy. Very hairy. And she has really big muscles. He opens his eyes and finds himself kissing a Jotun. He screams, pulls back, and tried not to vomit. The Jotun looks at him with sad eyes. "What's wrong, dear? Don't you think I'm pretty?" The Jotun puckers his lips and moves to kiss White_eyes again. He screams and starts swimming for the shore. The Jotun grabs him by the leg and drags him back into the deep water. "But I love you, you big, brave man! KISS ME!" The Jotun grabs White_eyes by the head and kisses him deeply. Very deeply. White_eyes cannot even breathe. He flails against the Jotun and tries to break free, but he cannot, the Jotun is too strong. The world goes dark around him and he dies. After his body goes limp in the water, the Jotun scowls at White_eyes' corpse and tosses it aside. "Typical man, can't last more than a minute."
-------------
If the game does NOT end with this night phase, please remove all references to Gyda and instead make the woman some random beautiful woman. Also, the woman will not fight White_eyes, and will just approach him after the Holmgang, praise him, kiss him, then run off into the woods and tell him to follow. The rest will be the same.

He had no more reason to believe my claim was fake than any of the rest of you, his role PM mentioned that my cover role was likely in the game but nothing more.
I will say I thought I had the strongest cover role of anyone. glyphz's King was useful, but also hamstrung by the fact that everyone knew what a King should be able to do and that he was inherently expected to get killed after being exposed. It would have been impossible for glyphz to deflect an activity scan as King. In contrast, 'Gyda' was mentioned in the original backstory post. That's typical of third party roles and thus gave me huge leeway to actually be Gyda. Since no one had any pre-defined notions of what Gyda's role would be here, I was free to invent it however I wanted. The actual cover role PM just had me as a Holmgang 3 power townie with no abilities, I added and modified bits and pieces here and there in whatever way seemed most convenient to my cover at any particular moment. That gave me an excuse to be active at night, which neither DE nor glyphz could have legitimately done without faking a God (and glyphz couldn't even have done that, as Kage had him named as a King in his role PM).
I even had a plan on how to fake an actual attack on myself, and I think the town would have believed it:

Something like:
TARGET sees a cloaked figure sneaking into his tent. He draws his sword and goes in to investigate. Inside, the tent is dark and he cannot see much. Then he hears a sound behind him and turns. In the doorway of the tend is a giant figure with the head of a shark, holding a trident. The figure impales him and kills him.
I never needed to do that though, as we always had enough Gods and Kings to kill each night that I had a legit reason for not getting killed.

Romanic stopped cold. He felt he was being watched, and slowly unsheathed his (frankish?) blade. "Show y-yourself!" he shouted. He wanted to sound unafraid, but his voice betrayed his fear. Sensing movement, he faced left w/ his sword in front of him. Out of the shadows, a woman came out. She was holding out a glimmering sword in her two hands, w/ her locks around the reddish blade, as if asking him to take it. Romanic abandoned his sword and instinctively walked towards the woman. He took the sword from her hands and marveled at it. He knew right away it was no ordinary blade.
"This sword... What is it's name?
"Lævateinn.
"This?! This is Læ-"
"Yes. Lævateinn."answered an inhuman voice.
Romanic's blood froze. He turned around to see King Rodulv, standing where he was moments ago.
"The legendary sword." The king of Romsdal said as he picked up Romanic's abandoned frankish blade. As the moon is uncovered by the clouds, and shone over both of them, Romanic noticed the king of Romsdal's eyes turned bright yellow and his shadow grew in size, far larger than it had been.
autolycus stood his ground, instead of running away, and faced the figure, holding the legendary sword.
The cloaked figure let out a loud cackle, then smiled. "Sinmara." called out the cloaked figure, and the woman appeared right beside him. In her hands she held Lævateinn. Romanic looked at his hands and despaired. He was no longer holding Lævateinn but a long twig. Before Romanic can put his mind around what happened, KingRodulv rushed at him holding the sword one-handed, ran him through w/ his own frankish blade and into a tree, pinning Romanic to it. Romanic yelled out a painful cry as he can feel the life start to drain out of him. King Rodulv grabbed Romanic' mouth w/ his free hand in tight grip. Romanic starts to feel his blood and his eyes boil until both Romanic and the tree burst into flames.
As the fire start to spread, the 2 figures remaining disappeared in a flash .
If the game does not end this night phase then please replace King Rodulv's character w/ a large hooded figure. That is all.

Deep in the woods, all Hel has broken loose. A giant was chasing after another, albeit smaller giant, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. The larger giant had trouble catching his brethren as his size causes him to collide more often into rocks and trees, w/c came alight on contact. The smaller, lithe giant was clutching in one hand a wailing creature, a human, the object behind the chase.
On the top of a hill was a wide clearing, and there the larger giant, named Surt caught up w/ his fellow giant and tackled him from behind. Both giants tumbled downhill and bowled over everything unfortunate enough to be in their paths. As Surt recovered his footing he heard a loud splash nearby, he looked around and realized that they had reached the lake at the bottom of the hill. Surt howled in such fury that the birds nearby dispersed into the night sky. The smaller giant resurfaced on a rock in the middle of the lake and started to taunt at his fellow, dangling the half-drowned man in front of him. "Give it back! Ægir! That is mine! You have been hogging all the fun lately!!!!!” roared Surt, as flames burst out of his scalp. He swung his fist and stamped at the ground, causing the ground to tremble. After some time, the smaller giant, named Ægir, finally took pity on his brethren. “Alright, alright. You can have it,” Ægir said and he began to spin his arm, that is clutching the helpless human.
"Ooooh!!! Oooooooohh!!! Ahahaha!!!"
Surt could not contain his excitement. He uprooted a nearby tree and held one end w/ both hands, like a club. He posed sideways, dug his feet into the ground and gripped his ‘club’ w/ such force that it became alight in flames. “Heeere it coooomes!” Ægir shouted as he pitched the screaming human straight at his fellow. Surt swung hard and a sickening crunch erupted where burning wood hit damp flesh. The force caused the ‘club’ to split at the point of contact and sent the burning remains of the man hurtling skyward. Surt let out a victorious cry and began to jog around the lake, waving his ‘club’ overhead. Meanwhile, the fireball continued to streak upwards, passing the realm of heaven, before crashing into the dome of the sky. Romanic had become a star...
Word of that night spread among the Norse, and it was used to frighten naughty children to sleep. Centuries later, the story became the basis for a popular past-time game, and the image of a capped Surt holding a bat became the logo of the professional league in Scandinavia...
