We hope so. I'll wait till I get the results of the first tournament so can assure the powers at be that this is not a dung tossing competitio but a serious tournament. So then we might have our own subforum and expand on the idea.
Would you be interested in joining?

I. Guide to play EB over the Internet using RTW online game feature
In order to play an online battle, one player has to "host" a game and the other one has to "join" it.
a) If you're the one joining just check all the three servers (Chat Lobby, Competitive and Friendly) in the box at the bottom right for a yellow game name, if there are multiple ones check the host's name by placing your cursor on top of the game's entry in the list.
b) If you're the one hosting, click the icon with the two screens. Your screen will look like this:
. Enter a name for your game, select the max. number of players and the unit scale and then press "Host Custom Battle". (You don't need a password) Afterwards do what you would do if you were setting up a sp custom battle.
After both players have joined select your factions, press the arrow in the corner at the bottom right, set up your armies press the arrow again and FIGHT!
Don't forget to save the replay once your done!
II. Guide to play EB over the Internet using Hamachi
Install Hamachi and read it's tutorial. It only tales ~2 minutes but helps a lot.
a) Create a Hamachi network (press the triangul button at the bottom left of the Hamachi window, select create network, enter the name and a password and hit OK)
b) Join the network that was created by your opponent. (The triangular button again, join network and enter name and pw of the network)
Now it get's tricky:
Cut your main internet connection.
Start EB using the mp .exe and click "Multiplayer" and "Lan Battle"
Minimize your game (Alt + Tab or Alt + Esc)
Reenable your Internet connection
return to the game and do as described in the previous guide (Step 8).
[B]Don't forget to save the replay once your done!
Exactly the same situation as maion, so thanks for the info.
Good I can still join the tournament, I will be Romani player if that's the one you are short on.
GMT +1 is the zone I live in.
I don't really have large amounts of empty time now. I will discuss this with my opponent perhaps.
Good luck to everyone!

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
The first battle of the tournament has already been played.
Phalanx was defending with a minor height advantage, my Principes engaged his Hoplitai while my Pedites Extraord. and my cavalry flanked him on the left. The Pedites were caught up n battle with some more of his Hoplitai but my cav was successful, routed his inferior cav and then finally charge the backs of his phalanx, causing his defeat.
To sum it up:
Romans: 1
Greeks: 0
Of course only if I the jury approves.
Actually I made a minor faux pas: Perhaps this game shouldn't have been played before the maps were officially announced, I hopes it's valid nonetheless. (The majority of the jury already voted in favor of "Mount Olympus" anyway)

Looking forward to the fight!

Yes, Tolg... Olympus was pretty much the consensus for that battle. Unless HunGeneral disagrees, in which case you're screwed :p
Kidding.
I'll post the other maps soon. I still need an alternative for Thermopylai. Can't understand why you guys don't like it... it's much better than the "Danube Delta", for instance.

Actually, thanks guys for telling me about using multiplayer, i have found my factional troops. Major problem now is that I have never played until marian reforms in EB so I have no idea as to what constitutes a marian army (which i need to use against the Ptolmies). Anyone able to give me a decent historic guide as to what I should use OR even list down every single roman factional unit that qualifies as Marian and won't get me disqualified in this tournament...I can't find it anywhere on the site. Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
Rematched..
This time I lost
Romans 1
Greek 1
This time my enemy switched from greek phalanx to macedonian, avoiding the front of the phalanx I tried a large flank attack, which failed, then my general died and the situation was lost.
F. Camillus fielded a similar army, save for the ranged. Tsidneku changed to a phalangite based army this round. I think this replay shows great use of the mobility in a Roman army. The battle began on the Pontic Right flank where the cavalry forces clashed. The Pontic cavalry were largely repelled then shepherded by the Roman Antesignani spearmen.
Meanwhile, the Roman front had split into half and tried to try a massive flank on the Pontic phalanx line. I split and turned my phalanx after I made sure he was dedicating to the flank. It was a messy battle with many mini-fronts and cavalry charges into enemy hinds. In the end, Pontus was able to gain a victory after slaying the Roman imperator, afterwhich the Roman troops started routing.
Romans: 1
Greeks: 1 (not sure whether to count the technical win by IrishHitman?)
You can find a summary of the first match below, along with the original replay link.
First Match -- Roman victory: game was replayed because Imperial Eastern Archers were used.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Flavius Camillus (Romani) vs Tsidneku (Pontos)
Notate bene: We realized he had Accensi in his army (which I think are Camillian era troops?), but I agreed that it was alright and we should play the battle through anyway.
F. Camillus's army was structured in an immensely long line with cavalry and Antesignani on the flanks. It was a shoot-out between my Heavy Archers and his Accensi until his Imperial Eastern Archers joined it from behind his line. My forces were getting peppered to shreds, so I decided to bring the battle to him and charged him. I flanked him from both sides with Scythian Noble Cavalry, but I follied and his Antesignani ate up a good 1-2 of my 6 units of cavalry.
One of my archer units had already been decimated when the battle began, so I had little to shoot down his winding cavalry. Camillus' great use of cavalry won him the day, I would think -- that, and his archers that I didn't expect. :wall:
But aren't you only allowed though to pick units which are portrayed for each faction at the EB site? :sweatdrop:

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
Wait a second, I haven't watched the replay yet, but Imperial Archers are Imperial units, not Marian ones... Meaning that he wasn't allowed to use them...
About the Accensi: I think it was decided that players are allowed to use older units (though I don't really like that), meaning that there's no problem with Cimillian units in a Polybian Marian army. Also I think that Accensi are still available for rome in the Polybian time frame in the campaign (not sure).
I forgot that you were using Marians. ^^' Anyway, it doesn't change anything anyway.

4x Equites Galliorum
1x Prima Cohors Reformata
5x Cohors Reformata
1x Cohors Evocata
4x Antesignani

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
Ave Competitors
To redeem myself I have practised my tactics against another greek foe!
I employed the same tactics from the last fight against Tsidneku, this time I comitted no great errors, my tactic worked perfectly this time.
Friend and Foe, learn from this fight and use these tactics on your own risk of defeat
First Part of the Fight
I approached the Makedonian foe, when his missile infantry targeted me I was making a run for it. I split my reserves to join the flankers. Only the principes stood in the center, evading the slow phalanx. My flanking troops were superior to his and the Makedonian right flank crumbled soon. The cavalry fight was were I also had the upper hand. After the flankers of the enemy were massacred and both our cavalry was weared out, we both withdrew from combat, reforming our shattered lines.
Second Part (long to watch)
As I watched how we both formed our lines, I see the enemy form a defensive circle, immediately I attack the enemy to stop them from gaining a strong position. A extremely long cavalry chase and minor infantry skirmishes take place. After a long chase my cavalry stops trying to kill the remaining Makedonian cavalry. Then I attack the main phalanx lines from multiple sides, I withdraw sometimes but eventually we came into long melee, wearied from the chase, my general loses his life. Enveloping the remaining phalanx we fight to the death, using some troops to fend off the cavalry. The phalanx slowly dies, then the cavalry charges a final time and my infantry defeats the cavalry. The phalanx is then doomed, they fight to the very end.
We shall remember the noble commander who lost his life and hunt down the escaped enemy commander!

Awww, I wanted to beat him before any of the other Romani did. But I'm glad someone killed his bastard Companions :-D.

Don't get your hopes up.
I've already formulated and tested defences against his tactic :P.
Two actually...

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
Actually, Fluvius, you might as well post it yourself.
And, from now on, I'd like all competitors to post their replays and comments on their battles in that folder, as this one's getting too big.
Also, the next time there is a breach of the rules, the point will go to the opposing team.
Fluvius was a last minute entry, and maybe was not familiar with the reforms, so we let it go. But next time, pay attention.
We may not disqualify the player (everyone makes mistakes, we're only human), but the point will go to the other team.
I guess I should add that to the rules.

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
The tactics used by Fulvius were bit cowardish for the brave-kill-them-all-from-the-front-with-my-gladius Romans :laugh4:. Interesting battle nonetheless.
Hope I won't get too much work to do for Friday so that could play a few test battles on Thursday...

I'll keep that in mind worthy adversary. And yeah, that was a bit hilarious watching him chase those companions around with everything he had and ignoring his phalangites wholesale. He also had a map advantage because Irish was pinned against the sea.

If someone would test the multiplayer with me this weekend, and if it works, I would like to join too if possible.
Preferably as KH or Epeiros, but if we have too many hellenic faction players I'd also play the Barbarians. :laugh4: :laugh4:

I'd love to play a game with you Swiss. As for the factions i don't think Barbaric factions are allowed in the tournament :whip: but then again i could be mistaken.

I've got bugger-all to do this weekend, so I'm up for a 1on1
And I don't care who you're playing, as long as you're ready to open a big can o' arse-whoopin', you know what I'm sayin'?
...don't ask... don't ask.

They are battle replays from Europa Barbarorum if you are talking about the movies of the battles?
Put those files in this folder: Europa Barbarorum/EB/replays
Then you can watch them.

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
Guys, just wanted to say that i do not know if i will be able to participate after all. I have been very busy lately. Just today i will be working from 10:00 till 24:00.
Maybe tomorrow or in the weekend i will have some free time, but i havent received any reply from Rootje (although i havent send him any PM either).
If somehow i do not post anything in the weekend on this thread, then discard my name from the list. I will have to apologize if this happens but its beyond my control.

Guys, I have been trying to contact with TWFanatic, but I get no response yet. Plus, I've been itching to fight with someone, so I wonder if anyone is willing to battle with me?

I'll be around for about 3 hours or so. Note I can only play on Hamachi.
You may want to "bump" that thread if you find it useful for others to be more conveniently visible...:beam:

Re: Legion vs. Phalanx online tournament
It's ok already, we tried to battle with Tolg yesterday and twice my crappy wireless connection was ended in the end of the battle... Anyway I know how to fight on Multiplayer now, so no problem. Thanks for the help, though
Apparently, the issue was unit size. If you play on Huge, it's going to mess things up with your connection, unless you have a solid DSL or othersuch healthy connection.
Anyway... Anti and Irish, why haven't you massacred each other yet? Maion, is TWF still not replying? Alex and Potocello? Wodewick and Silence Hunter PM'd me that they'd set up a battle, has it been fought already?
Come on, we still have 5 battles left to go.
