ok Nigel, i dont know when this can be implemented...but here goes.
purchase 1 more V1 Szekely
purchase 1 more FMAA
(if there is still enough money to be able to do this and still afford support costs) upgrade my Mounted Sergeants to V1
edit: oh, and a question, is it possible for me to change what unit my general is as the game progresses?

Hello all,
I am back onllne and very glad to see that you have been pretty active, while I was away. I'll get on to updating page 1 as soon as I can. Good luck with all the battles. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/gc-clown.gif
Also the one-mission-at-a-time rule seems to be gradually going out of the window. Well, If you guys think this rule is more of a hinderance than a benefit, I am quite happy to drop it.
Or perhaps we can say that, if a mission still has vacant places after 7 days, it is up for second takers. Any other thoughts ?
Glad to be back,
Nigel

ok, I updated the page.
Octavian, your upgrades have cost you 782 Fl and your support cost goes up to 533 Fl. Your army should show up as soon as the upload of the picture is completed.
Oh and there is nothing against changing your general unit. It's fine, just as long as you don't do it too often. After all, everyone knows that nothing demoralizes a team more than constant change of leadership http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif

I'll be a bandit =|
-
damn, there goes my plan to take all the loot http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
thx for getting my upgrades Nigel... i think that gives me the best army, and enough cash to survive anther payday http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

if i can make a recommendation... get some light cav, it is useful when going peasant hunting http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif Szekelys are quite good in that department, as are Hobilars and Mounted Sergeants.
-
Well, Already sort've have a group picked out, but I don't think any of the units are illegit. If they are, I'm sure Nigel will let me know so I can change it. :p I do have three units of Mounted Sergeants though.
-
good
@nigel, for my castle game... i would prefer to dismount my cav. however, while mounted sergeants dismount into a fairly good unit (Fuedal Sergeants) Szekely dismount into a pretty shoddy unit (Slav Warriors) slav warriors have a much lower combat rating than Szekely. so my question is, would it be possible change (by simply taking a different unit in the selection panel) what they dismount into? FFK V0 perhaps? i dont know if there is a better suited unit, FFK are just the same unit size.

Xiahou Liao,
wellcome to the game
It sure is good to have some more banditos around. Hope you will enjoy it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg.../gc-party2.gif
Just let me know what you have planned for your army. I will check it and let you know if ok or if changes are needed.
And Octavian,
Your cav units dismount into what they dismount.
I guess you have to take the fact that for a very useful cav unit you have a pretty weak inf unit if you dismount them.
That's life http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif

one quick question... what faction r u?
-
i would like to purchase 2 unit's of FMAA at v0 please,
-
nigel...i was just going over that castle map...
with the combination of:
enemy having higher morale
me only having two seige engines
defending a castle is always weighted to the defender
and a map with all stone walls
=im screwed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/confused.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

@guy, i am usually on during weekdays at 12:00 till 3:30 AM EST (new york) on weekends its really random http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/frown.gif
-
Just dropping in for a quick line.
Xiahou and Chimpyang, your purchases look ok at first glance. I'll probably have it all worked out and updated by Sunday or Monday. Xiahou, still need to know the faction. English, German, Italian, French, Spanish, .... ?
Octavian, I had a short test of that map attacking against the computer. Using only one catapult I managed to do reasonably well. I see you have geared your army towards light and fast skirmishing rather than heavy hand-to-hand stuff, but I would think you could manage to get at least into the outer ring and pillage those buildings.
Give it a try (what do you have to loose?). If it turns out you are screwed indeed, there will be more missions for you with differently weighted odds.

My men fight with ancestrial honor of the Vikings.

Still don't know if Shaka got my PM, so I'll put it here:
When you free to play, Shaka? I'm usually good on weekends, say 8PM GMT, but with Euro 2004 on, there may be times when I'm not free.
And you're Kenchi_Shaka on Gamespy, right? I'm Axeknight on GS http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...icons/wink.gif
-
Oh, small request Nigel, could I have my men dressed in the Polish colors? :D?
-
Vikings dressed in Polish colours, ..... must be the latest fashion http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...ns/biggrin.gif
Page 1 is updated now. Your armies should appear there as soon as the upload is complete. Xiahou, could you give me your e-mail address ? You can use the "MAIL" button under my posts. PM will not work for Junior Patrons and e-mail or MSN is a good way to arrange for battles.
Also, what timezone are you in ?
Have fun giving Octavian a hand with "re-distributing" the funds of the rich http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...s/gc-smile.gif

Mission 4 Result
Well, on a thoroughly miserable day my scouts spotted UglyGuy's party climbing down from the hills. I formed my dogs up into two 'battles', wary of any funny stuff that the cunning mercenary may have tried to pull. I was relieved when i spotted the merchant's servants at the back of the column. On spotting me, Guy quickly marched his forces down the hill straight toward me. Seeing that the mercenaries wanted a straight fight, i closed my two battles up and prepared for combat.
The mercenary commander wheeled his forces to my right before he came into bow range. Although i moved slightly right, with the distance I couldn't risk marching my formation further right, or i risked contact with the mercenaries whilst my formation was disrupted. At this point my archers were in range and started to unleash arrows on the enemy companies. Guy reciprocated. I knew that my bandit archers were no match for the mercenary's 3 longbow companies, so i quickly sent my highlanders forward to intercept his marching army, with my men at arms in support. This took some guts from my highlanders, as the longbowmen now had their mark and where raining arrows on their unarmoured heads. I ordered them to advance, telling them to charge the mercenary spearmen who were guarding the longbows. With the FMAA running behind, they charged across the open ground, forming wedges as they went.
Unfortunately, my new band of clansmen disregarded my orders and attacked the same unit as one of my veteran warbands. This was to have unfortunate consequences. The highlanders slammed into and through two longbow companies with Guy charging his spears into the fray. My warband on my left flank made short work of the mercenaries, but the two warbands to their right lost impetous and got hopelessly tangled with each other as they charged home. More so, Guy quickly flanked them and before i knew it my new warband was being massacred. I quickly ordered my FMAA to charge and engaged the mercenary flankers. These more seasoned troops quickly made inroads into the mercenary line. Meanwhile, mnted sergeants flanked Guys right flank. My sergeants on Guy's left flank moved up, looking for opportunities to attack, but were charged by Guy's cavalry as they prepared, and started taking a real beating. Meanwhile, two of my clansmen bands were now totally surrounded and fighting for their lives.
With my archers killing their rear ranks, and my cavalry hacking at their sides, Guy's right flank started to fail. At the same time, his general had boldly charged into the melee, but in the confusion of battle was hacked out his saddle and slain.
With their leader dead, the mercenaries broke. The merchant's men decided it was better to live and ditched the heavy ingots they were carrying. Once the dust had settled it was clear that although my dogs had won the day, they had paid a heavy price - my recently arrived warband had been cut down to the man. However the warband with them, although also suffering grevious losses, had killed 119 mercenaries in the desperate melee, and so covered themselves with glory.
So a good victory for my dogs http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...evalcheers.gif, but at the price of my new recruits http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cg...cons/mecry.gif
