Hey all! Just got a man of the hour and was wondering how the save process works.
Hmmm... I fear my name will be in the Mausoleum before too long.... :(
just minimize the message box (click on the small square at the top right corner of the scroll), and I or I-K will take care of it.
So many heroic victories.. so little screens... :P
It seems we all have a prob with screens, so here an advice: always make sure, that the last screeny you make is of the results... If you do that, you can at least copypaste this one into paint, even if all your others dont work in irfanview... unfortunately that only came to my mind AFTER my last heroic victory ;) ^^
Another thing you can do is to download Fraps and use that. It's easier and you can be sure every picture comes out good.
and with Fraps, at least for me, you don't have to turn anti-aliasing off to get the screen.Quote:

In the light of these recent Heroic Victories I'm sorry but I will be more strict with giving bp's so easily. So, kingsnake and Adamantarius will get only 2 bp's for those battles. It is unfair to the others, who manage to get screenshots from the battles, to give 3bp's to those that don't post screenies.

Edit: About FOW, I remember clearly that it was on when I took the save
Fraps is good and it is free. The thing is that the free version of Fraps will save the pictures in .bmp and not .jpg although this is not that big of a problem.

If you want units retrained, as I noticed from your SOT post, you must send them to a retraining center. So, if you send your Greek units to Antiocheia, and your eastern units to Edessa, I can retrain them for you. If you want me to move them, you have to give me permission to move them in your SOT post, as they are under your direct control. I don't want to assume that I can just take anyone's units to retrain them (even if retraining is asked for), since people have different ideas in what is appropriate for another person to do with "their" stuff. I don't read minds folks, so if you want me to take it upon myself to move your units for retraining, just put it in your SOT post. I check the SOT before I take the save every time, so you can be sure that anything posted there will be seen.
Actually, those units, left overs from the Liberation Armies, do not belong to Timarchos. Basileus can take them away from him or disband them anytime he wishes to do so(except those 2 units of his Personal Army). At the moment, it's better if Timmy can lead them and kill some Egyptians.

He can ask them to be retrained but if I say in my SOT that you can't then .. you can't.
Until I haven't say something otherwise he can lead those units. It's the same as giving units from a towns garrison - you can use them as long as the Basileus allows you.

So...should I auto-resolve the battle you have loaded? I can't end the turn until that is resolved.
Adamantarius, according to your SOT post I'll have to auto-resolve that battle, I'll see if I can withdraw you first. If you live, I'll send you to Damaskos, if I-K doesn't get to it before me.

EDIT: I could maybe engage the army near Sidon next turn to relieve the town but of course that would draw the garrison into the fight (including Timarchos and his units) What am I to do in this case?

You simply fight the battle like you would any other battle. The commander of the stack attacking/being attacked is the one who fights it.

No, as long as you don't minimise by clicking the X, if you instead click the small box, the scroll should disappear and the "message box" should turn grey, and it can be opened by anyone who needs to do anything with that.Quote:

The benefactor is Andromachos Syriakos(Hax). Will PM him ASAP.
I just got a pm from Hax, and he said he can adopt him. So it's ok to accept. You know that you can get the scroll out of the way by clicking on the small square at the top right corner of the scroll, it should minimize down to a grayed out message tile. But if that doesn't work, go ahead and accept.
I expect Swissbarbar has received the full orders from Celtic Punk, so don't go moving the whole Syrian Army to Sinope

i did not move anything because the MotH had to be accepted/denied first. i had intention to move his character, because he wrote "somebody please..." and i was incidentally here. If anyone wishes to move Celtics Avatar feel free to do that in the way he wishes to.

Quick question, will a "choose your ally" request survive a save and reload? Perhaps we should discuss whether we keep a Pahlava alliance or go with Baktria... I'd choose Baktria myself.
no i think not, because when you press "ESC" to show up the menu where you can save, it automatically denies the questions.
I'd choose baktira too, they are stronger than pahlava in every aspect at the moment.
hmmm..., strange, cause I just did an emergency save (so as not to lose any progress, I still have the game open-alt-tabbed out) after I minimized the scroll, and there was no "automatic" anything (at least there was no new message). I'm probably just gonna make an "executive decision" then and go with Baktria, do the whole "supporting fellow Greeks" thing.

Emergency save is just a name I use for an alternately named save that I make if I'm about to do something that might result in a CTD. In this case, it didn't work out too well and I ended up just redoing the turn, because saving when you have a "pick your ally" scroll minimized just results in a buggy save where the game automatically cancels your alliance with one of the parties on YOUR allies screen, shows you as still being allied on THEIR allies screen, but shows both parties still remaining allied when you mouse over a settlement belonging to either party on the map. Sounds to me like a save corrupting CTD waiting to happen, so I redid the turn making the exact same moves as I did before.
Merlinus, as a Chancellor you can accept/decline these kind of 'requests'. IC this can be seen as a urgent matter and you must reply fast but can not go to the Council to ask what you should do since you don't have the time for it.
That's kind of what I figured out after thinking about the logistics of the thing...well, we're still allied to Baktria. I'm not gonna try that ALT-TAB thing again, LOL. I figured the Pahlava are a bit weaker than Baktria, and since we don't have very many troops out east, that was the smart choice...fighting Baktria's hordes of phalangites and bodyguards while severely outnumbered = epic fail.
I gotta hand it to the EB trait system (though I knew it was great before). Sarpedon has grown quite well, and it seems to go hand in hand with how I've been RP-ing him as well. :yes:
can sumone move me and the 1st Lydian to Antiocheia wont be on today long enough...darn work hour change!

Hey all i am working on a RPG game just like this only based on the Romani faction, was just wondering who made our mod. I dont want to mod much for mine, all i really want is the ability to make recruitable generals. Anyone know how i can do this on my own? Or can someone point me in the direction of someone who can do this for me. Im not much of a modder. :help:
If you just want RBG's then you have to edit only two files - edu and edb files.
In edu (export_descr_units) you have to find the bodyguard unit and change the recruitment time to 0 and the recruitment cost to 1 and the upkeep to 1 as well.
In edb (export_descr_buildings) you have to add the 'recruit "bodyguard X" and the rest of the stuff to the governor buildings.
This way you can recruit them from anywhere and when you recruit like 10-15 of them it wouldn't cost you much.

of course now before i do any of that i just had a new problem...RTW vanilla is fine but when i play EB my screen is all flashy any solutions? it was fine last time i took the turn...man this is annoying!
If the question is whether Rome would be the only one you'd have reason to do it for, then no. Every Greek faction, for example, should have it as well. I don't see any reason not to have it for any of the others either, for that matter.Quote:

if 2 FM are fighting in a battle, wich is of course fought by only one Player, do both get battlepoints?
I wondered that too or what if there not both FM's like b4 i was commanding the 1st Lydian I was in the siege of Halikarnassos with Chaotix before he had to take his leave from the game. I didnt recieve points so I imagine only the person actually fighting it gets the points, which really only makes sense because that person makes the actual tactical decisions to gain said victory. Because that way if he loses then the other person wouldnt be "punished"(penalized bp points) to. But im just assuming thats how things work out.Quote:

No, you don't. Keep in mind that the commanders of each regular army (Lydian, Syrian etc.) don't own their armies - they're just allowed to command them by the Basileus, the real owner. The only ones who own their own armies are satraps, the Kleronomos Basileios and the Basileus himself.Quote:

Ideally the decision should have been taken in a Royal Council, but that would have taken a while. I guess the spot decision was made because it really doesn't matter (they all are going to attack us anyway) and it was expedient.Quote:

The decision was made by the chancellor because 2 allied nations went to war, and it was an "end turn" decision that couldn't be delayed to go into council. Like "Man of Great Potential" adoption offers, those type of scrolls DO NOT survive a save game, even if minimized (I checked).
Yea well it doesn't matter anyways.. we need battles against a cataphract nation anyways, the question is: Who is willing to lose on purpose so we can get our nice little reform? ;)
