Your armament of choice

What would be your armament of choice? You may choose anything from the world, not just EB factions, as long as it is within the EB time frame (no katanas) =] The set of gear also have to be within the same cultural sphere. (so you cant be using a lian-nu while wearing lorica hamata)

Oh...might as well state why and where do you intend to fight in...=P

I'll start things rolling: (=P guess what I want to be)

A crossbow and straight-sword.

bronze helm.

Lamellar shirt (covering down to the knees).

Reason: I'm not good at melee fighting, standing in a firing line and shooting at enemies at a nice comfortable 300 yards away seems a safer bet...of course, if I'm forced to draw my sword it would mean I'm pretty screwed)


p.s. a balloon to the first person to choose nothing (absolutly nothing, not even clothes) but a celtic sword, shield and some "magic potion" :balloon2:

Spear main, hand axe for backup, Scutum.

Dunno about armor, probably just some chainmail or something.

Depends on my mood.

Calm: A nice big scutum and gladius for close quarters, and a big stash of javelins to preferably kill my enemies off at a safe distance with beforehand- just like my Mount and Blade "Hegemony" mod character ;)

Angry: A big bottle of ephedrine and caffeine pills (yes I know, not available in that form at the time) and the biggest, most brutal and nasty weapon I could possibly get my hands on! Maybe a giant axe or falx or something of that sort. It would be like an ultra violent tazmanian devil on crack til I died.

A two handed battle axe like that.

Heavy Celtic chain with a helmet covered by a Bear-head(like the Wargonez and Velites)

A long bearskin cloak.

And the whole kit is heavily adorned with runes and Symbols of Thor and Tyr.


Also, lots of drugs and beer.

Gladius Hispaneisus, Scutum, 2 Pila, Scale armor, and a Spartan-style helmet. Best of all EB cultures.

or maybe scale armor, a huge falx, a godilic hammer if the falx breaks, that awesome Baktrian Cataphract helmet, and the Gestatae drug

hmm... maybe a kopis, an ovalish shield, linothorax or some really light armour, a bronze helmet, and several javelins.

or just nothing at all except for javelins and a small shield...

Nasty Parthian mace, plate on mail armor, iron veil + thracian helmet, and the Macedonian aspis.


Maybe a silk robe over it. I'd be like that one unit from The Broken Crescent.

same as an hetaroi kataphraktoi (late baktrian bodyguards)

can I use a falx as a backup?:smash:

a composite bow, i don't want to be in the middle of the battle, i wanna kill without being killed

a spear if an enemy raider gets too close

a straight sword and a small shield (like the ones that the cretan archers have)
if the thing gets tough

and if i'm really, really screwed... a little dagger in the belt

On foot: 9-foot doru and aspis, xiphos for when things get messier than usual; bronze cuirass with pteryges, italo-corinthian helmet (the one with ear cutouts), bronze bracers and greaves.

On horseback: 12-foot xyston, but no shield for easier movement, a makhaira for the messy stuff; same armor as above except I'd replace the italo-corinthian with an attic type for added visability.

Not too sure. I'd like to say, Ceannlann armour *the Dubosaverlacica version with leg+arm armour*, a celtic longsword, a few soliferum, a sagaris battleaxe, and a spear. Cutting a bloody swath through the enemy army.

Reality? I'll be joining Poulp' with a nice compound bow, a full quiver or two, a fine steppe pony, and a longsword I pray I'd never need to actually use.

Toga, quill pen, parchment and a hetairoi-like helmet.
Because "the pen hurts more than the sword" (the helmet I think would be cool however).

Probably have to arm myself with....

A Mace, a small hand axe, an attic helmet, some chain mail, bronze plates (like the ones the iberian units use) some bronze greaves........and most likely something to drive me into a bloody rage

And a few daggers....in case Im thrown down or something >.>

Let's see... Scale Mail, Massive Composite Bow, about 300 Arrows (150 AP, 150 Barbed), Huge Strong Horse, Armour for my horse, Long Lance with a hook on the end (for hamstringing), and a Kopis Sword. Better yet, a Kukri. Me = PWN!

A big mushy beard, a loincloth and a really oversized falx, plus the fastest horse in the neighbourhood. My plan is to run towards the enemy screaming, with the aim of causing a rout. If it doesn´t work, I jump the horse and ride away, dettering any pursuers by singing the worst version of "Baby we were born to run" since Bruce Springsteen´s one.

I'd offer my protection to a Vasci king ~D

Nisean warhorse, composite bow, lamellar "Kataphraktos" , lamellar cuirass, cheires, Kontos, and a really pissed-off attitude.

I am surprised that no one haven't mentioned my favorite yet..

Oh well .. I probably would take .. lorica segmentata .. the best armour in the world :clown:

id choose a palm size 2 ton stone throwing catapult and a pretty toga to go along with it. and maybee a ig stick just in case

That's exactly why I didn't choose boots of travel: they aren't real.

an orange toga, with me completely bald, carrying a Dao blade and a round shield. and a Jian blade for backup.

A rhomphaia, one of those long Thraikian sickles. Hands down.

outfitted just like the Armenian noble guards (aznvakan tiknapah) except I would want my iron scale armor to be bronze coated, and instead of a straight sword I would prefer a finely deocroated mace. with the iron ball again being bronze coated.

Long pointy thing, small shield, some leather armour and 2000 other dudes with similar pointy things around me :beam:

I'd most likely go for something along the lines of a Hypaspistai or Makedonikoi Peltastai. Pretty nicely armoured and well equipped in general (And the armor looks kick-ass if you ask me, really sweet) yet mobile. I mean, I'd like to stay flexible yet relatively well armoured. Those guys are exactly that in my eyes :sweatdrop:

Iron helmet (chalkidean or that the hysteroi pezhetairoi wears), chainmail (mithril if posible), a large aspis(hoplon), dory, Conan's sword (the film with Arnie), Iphikrates boots (enhanced with a haste enchanment :laugh4:) and a very large amount of luck.........

a longbow (there ment to b about 6 feet tall, dont think id b strong enough to use it lol)
no armour, i would rely on mobility:yes:

I'd stick with just a knife. And Rambo's skills. :P
