outfitted just like the Armenian noble guards (aznvakan tiknapah) except I would want my iron scale armor to be bronze coated, and instead of a straight sword I would prefer a finely deocroated mace. with the iron ball again being bronze coated.

I'd most likely go for something along the lines of a Hypaspistai or Makedonikoi Peltastai. Pretty nicely armoured and well equipped in general (And the armor looks kick-ass if you ask me, really sweet) yet mobile. I mean, I'd like to stay flexible yet relatively well armoured. Those guys are exactly that in my eyes

If I may post an alternative to my original Idea, It still stands however....
Just imagine someone going into a battle ANYWHERE in time wearing that stuff.
Oh and someone made a real suit like that, out of steel and leather, suitable for battle.
