The DOOP Flagship Nimbus is patrolling the Oort Cloud, defending the Sol System from possible invasion. Captain Zapp Brannigan, commander of the DOOP defensive fleet, is sitting in his captain's chair, crossing his legs ever so sexily.




Zapp Brannigan:
"Captain's Diary. Stardate: Friday, September 19th, 3008. We are currently patrolling the Oort Cloud, defending the Sol System from possible invasion. Captain Zapp Brannigan, commander of the DOOP defensive fleet, is sitting in his captain's chair, crossing his legs ever so sexily. Lieutenant, are there any space women out here in the Oort Cloud that need rescuing?"

Kif Kroker groans and rolls his eyes at his commanding officer.
"No, captain. This is a lifeless region filled with rocks and ice trapped in a distant orbit around the sun. Nothing can survive out here."

Zapp:
"So that means the space females, if they are indeed trapped out here, are mighty cold? Kif, I recommend that we begin a search pattern for any and all space women."

Kif:
"What about the men, sir?"

Zapp:
"I didn't know you were into that sort of thing, Kif; It explains so much. But that's OK, I have learned to accept and tolerate your choice of lifestyle. Very well... if there are any space men out here, you can have them."

Kif groans again and looks at the viewscreen.
"Captain, there appears to be a very large and threatening fleet of warships heading our way. They appear to be coming from the direction of Omicron Persei VIII."

Zapp:
"So, the Omicronians have finally made their move. Little do they realize that me, Zapp Brannigan, is about to defend the Sol System perimeter with the bold and daring tactics I have become famously for. Prepare to execute the Brannigan Maneuver, Lieutenant."

Kif:
"There is no Brannigan Maneuver, sir. And the Omicronians have opened fire. Permission to raise deflector shields?"

Zapp:
"Negative, lieutenant. We need all the power we can muster if we are going to destroy the Omicronian Fleet single-handedly."

Half of the Starship Nimbus has been obliterated in a single volley of disruptor fire. All defensive and offensive systems have gone offline. Life Support is failing, and most of the crew is dead or being blown into space.

Zapp:
"I see the Omicronians have underestimated me. Status report, Ensign Kif?"

Kif groans.
"Actually, sir, I'm Lieutenant Kif. Half of the the ship has been obliterated in a single volley of disruptor fire. All defensive and offensive systems have gone offline. Life Support is failing, and most of the crew is dead or being blown into space."

Zapp:
"They're playing right into my hands! The Omicronians are more foolish than I thought. Ensign Kif, fire up the dark matter engines, and prepare to jump to warp speed. We will ram their entire fleet, one at a time, until they are all destroyed. I'll be in the escape pod if you need me."

Kif groans once again.

Location: Democratic Order Of Planets Headquarters, Weehauken New Jersey.

Professor Hubert J. Farnsworth addresses the assembled guests, and fellow Planet Express employees.

"Good News, Everyone! Professor Ogden Wernstrom and I have been working together to develop a defensive energy shield which will protect the entire planet Earth from being destroyed by an orbital bombardment. Just in time, because we've received an emergency transmission from the Starship Nimbus, reporting that 10,083 Omicronian Death Ships are en route to the Sol System, on a course which will bring them within 100 kilometers of Earth."

The Neutral Planet Ambassador stands to speak.
"This is no cause for alarm. Surely if we surrender and declare neutrality, they will respect our sovereignty or enslave us all. We might also be destroyed in an orbital bombardment. Therefore I recommend we take no offensive or defensive action, and go to Gray Alert."

Professor Farnsworth:
"Nonsense. We must take action! I recommend to the DOOP Council that we raise this new deflector shield. Until the energy field is fully charged up, it will only protect a small portion of the surface, beginning with DOOP headquarters. Here, professor Wernstrom and I will be working to finish construction on my latest invention, the Planetary Defense Anti-Orbital Bombardment Freem Tachyon Ion Disruptor Cannon."

The entire assembly seems shocked and worried, and audibly gasps.

Farnsworth:
"However, because it's such a ridiculously long name, we've shortened it to Freem Cannon."

The entire assembly breathes a sigh of relief. Just then, the charred remains of the Nimbus crashes into the Assembly Hall, and Zapp Brannigan and Kif Kroker are thrown free of the ship and directly into the masses of assembled guests.

Kif Kroker:
"The Omicronians... they're here! They've already begun orbital bombardment!"

The crew of the Planet Express ship, delegates from the Democratic Order of Planets, assembled Robot Guests, and visiting dignitaries from other worlds have all gathered at DOOP Headquarters in a final stand against the invasion fleet from Omicron Persei VIII.

However, the Omicronians have turned one of these people against the others in an attempt to undermine the deflector shield, Earth's last line of defense. This Omicronian Agent will begin to assassinate one DOOP citizen every night, until none remain standing. The task of all those who have not been placed under Omicronian control is to root out and destroy the Omicronian Agent, and any who might be assisting him.

Town notes:
If Professor Farnsworth is killed, he will be unable to finish building the Freem Cannon, which is the only weapon which will allow the DOOP (Town) to fight back against the Omicronian Fleet. In the meantime, the Omicronians will begin bombarding the deflector shield, and if the Omicronian agent (Mafia) is not stopped, he will kill everyone at DOOP headquarters, and manually deactivate the deflector shield, allowing the Omicronians to conquer planet Earth.

Town Win Conditions:
1. Either destroy all Omicronian agents and their allies, or
2. Activate the Freem Cannon, once constructed, and obliterate the Omicronian Fleet.

Mafia notes:
Not everyone needs to be killed in order for Mafia to win. Obviously Professor Farnsworth is a priority, but if he dies, someone else will take his place. If everyone who is capable of resisting the Omicronians are destroyed, Town loses, regardless of how many townies remain.

Mafia Win Conditions:
1. Either prevent the activation of the Freem Cannon, or
2. Destroy all who oppose the Omicronian High Command.

Third Party notes:
At any given time, the moderator will activate hidden attributes in your character. You will receive a PM detailing your new orders.

Third Party Win conditions:
1. Either join Town in destroying the Omicronian Agents and their allies, or
2. Join the Omicronian Agents and their allies, and survive, or
3. Be the last one standing.

Other rules: The moderator is bound by the original role PM's sent out, however there is at least one role with a variable alignment. Their alignment may change at my discretion. Basically, if you get really lucky and capture the Omicronian agent on night one, the game continues. However, it is not futile to attempt to capture the Omicronian agent on night one, because that eliminates a possible agent.

If you need to drop out, please private message me, and I will find an alternate for you or use Random.org to play your character for you. Although players may be banished from the game by the Wrath of Hypnotoad, characters will not be.

Suicide/Vote:Abstain/Non-posting is not allowed.

Cheating (definition determined by moderator's judgment) is not allowed. If any cheating occurs, players will be ejected from the game. No hard feelings.

Breaches of protocol may be forgiven if brought to my attention.

Running tallies are allowed and encouraged, messing with the tally will result in a warning. A second error will result in being ejected from the game.

This is a replacement for the Mini Simpsons Mafia Part Deux. Which was itself a mafia game for all those anxiously waiting for the Large Simpsons Mafia: The Full Monty game. That one is going to take a while to come up in the queue.

Most everyone I asked thought it would be neat to try a Futurama theme. I think everyone will enjoy this game. I can always queue up another Mini Simpsons Mafia if we are still waiting forever for the large one.

Greetings, friends. This is your host speaking. I have a couple of things I wish to discuss which are matters of some importance.

Firstly, Lord Winter, Fahad I, El Diablo, and Omanes Alexandrapolites, I need votes from you all.
El Diablo has not signed on since the game began, so the first day may be extended.

Secondly, due to something outside the realm of this game, SwedishFish is now inactive and cannot continue. I'd really like a replacement for him. Anyone will do, as long as they post/vote.

Thirdly, although I could easily just WOH him, I put a lot of effort into designing this game and the characters. So until a real sub player can be found to replace him (and Glyphz, who was only ever supposed to be a sub player) I'm going to sub for SwedishFish's character.

To make it fair, all my votes/actions to be determined by random.org. Then I will post in this thread my (useless) rationalization for those actions as best I can. Yeah, it's pretty stupid, but I'd rather not lose characters in the game over silly things unrelated to the game.

If anyone has any questions, comments, or objections, please PM me. SwedishFish's vote remains the same.

After roughly 80 hours of Day One, I need to move the game along.

Begin night phase. Everyone with a skill/activity which requires sending me an email, please do so. I'll give you 24 hours or more to use your actions.

Night One

Day One:

Locked inside the maximum-security cargo hold of the DOOP headquarters, there exists a menace. Contained here since his last X-mas raid against the citizens of Earth, the Neptunian robot's CPU has been working overtime, calculating a list of all those who are deemed naughty or nice. Thusfar, only Zoidberg has managed to make this robot's "nice" list. Everyone else has been targeted for destruction and punishment. Robot Santa was in the process of charging his power cells in preparation for another night of slaying and firing missiles from his toe, when suddenly the duranium doors slid open and the transphasic force field was deactivated.

There stood Professor Hubert Farnsworth and Doctor John Zoidberg. Robot Santa eyed both of them, and just as he was about to fire plasma beams, he suddenly disengaged.

"Zoidberg!" exclaimed Robot Santa in greeting. His terrifying scowl softened and he returned to "nice Santa" mode.

Zoidberg: "Ro-but Santa, it's nice to see you. Did you get my X-mas wish list?"

Santa: "Yes, my hard-shelled friend. I understand you wanted Earth to repel the attack by the Omicronians. Unfortunately Santa has been a little tied up, because some very naughty humanoids trapped me in here. I'm afraid I can't help you find the Omicronian agent."

Professor Farnsworth: "Santa, I presume you know why were are here?"

Robot Santa: "The vote was held today, and the naughty ones have decided to terminate Santa. They are going to be getting a lot of coal in their stocking this year."

Zoidberg: "True, true... but! What would X-mas be without Ro-but Santa? You're not going to be harmed, my friend. We're just going to be deactivated until the agent is caught."

Robot Santa: "So... you're not going to kill Santa?"

Professor Farnsworth: "Oh heavens, no! When this crisis is over, they fully intend to free everyone who has been incapacitated by the DOOP committee vote. If you'll allow me, I'm just going to remove your positronic brain's autonomy mechanism temporarily. You'll get it back!"

Robot Santa: "If it must be done, then so be it. I just have one last request."

Zoidberg: "You name it."

Robot Santa: "Robot Santa wishes to continue his quest to rid the world of naughtiness. Find the Omicronian agent, and send him down here to me for his punishment."

Farnsworth: "It will be done. Robot Santa, deactivate all weapons systems and disarm security protocols. Disengage autonomy mechanism, and activate screen saver; Flying Toasters."

Robot Santa's red poofball hat opens up to reveal his main processor, and the autonomy assembly extracts itself from the drive. Robot Santa is now in hibernation mode.

Zoidberg: "Do you think this is right professor? Robot Santa may have been a mass-murdering, psychotic destroyer of worlds, but he seemed fully committed to the fight against the Omicronians."

Farnsworth: "I agree, Doctor Zoidberg. Robot Santa wanted nothing more than to judge us all with his damaged morality circuits, and then systematically destroy every living being who did not live up to his outrageously high moral standards, but no more so than any major organized religion. I frankly don't see the harm in leaving him activated, but the DOOP council members have spoken."

Farnsworth: "That may be so, Doctor Zoidberg, but Earth is one of the few planets in the cosmos to try democracy as a form of government. Either we give it a try, or we surrender to the conquerors at our doorstep."

Zoidberg: "I assume you mean the Omicronians?"

Farnsworth: "The wha? What Omicronians? And what is Robot Santa doing here?"

Zoidberg and Farnsworth leave the cargo hold, and secure the doors. Robot Santa is left inactive, in the dark... hopefully, the DOOP council chose wisely to deactivate him, or there will be an assassination tonight.

I've noticed town doesn't tend to lynch lurkers, for whatever reason. It might be a good strategy! I hate to say that, because it ruins the game.

I believe I have all the night actions from people. I should be able to do the write-ups soon and get the game moving to Day Two.

Night one:


Bender stood in pitch black darkness, guarding the unfinished Freem Cannon in the Anterior Astronomical Annex of DOOP headquarters. His robotic eyes were set to infrared scan mode, checking the hallway for any signs of activity. Humanity's hope lay upon the powerful weapon.

Bender saw nothing, but heard a metallic scraping noise.

"Halt! Who goes there! Show yourself, scumbag! Hands up, I have you completely surrounded on one side! Who's there, anyway?"

The infrared scan revealed no traces of heat. Bender switched to wide electromagnetic scan mode. On both sides of him, he saw a powerful buildup of electric activity.

Bender: "Aha! Got you, slimeball! Prepare to be Bender-ified!"

But it was too late. The large electromagnets became active, and slammed into Bender. The magnetic waves coarsed through Bender's metal body, and began to scramble his circuits. His speech centers shut down and he began singing folk songs.

"Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care, Jimmy Crack Corn and I don't care! Jimmy Crack Corn and Bender don't care!!! ASDGHFDKJKJJKSJKJHJHBBBBBVV...one one zero zero one zero one one one zero zero zero one one one zero one zero zero one zero one.... two."

The Omicron agent revealed himself to Bender as his cognitive functions broke down.

Bender, in surprise: "zero one zero one zero one...."

But Bender fell to the ground... and his memory was erased by the magnetic radiation. His shiny metal "buns" was found the next morning, with bite marks engraved in it.

Meanwhile, the vigilante observed the entire event on a security monitor, hoping to see the identity of Bender's attacker. However, because there was not enough information, the vigilante chose to leave all the suspects alive tonight.

The investigator completed all actions against the target, and was able to determine the identity and alignment of one of the suspects.

DOOP's future seemed uncertain, but they were making progress....
