If this keeps on, I'm shelving MW2 forever.

Okay, as I'm sure most of you know, Call of Duty multiplayer uses a leveling system, where you earn experience points for doing stuff.

Well, Ever since hitting level 45, I have gone from averaging 28-32 kills a game with between 4 and 8 deaths, to averaging about 4 kills a game, with between 12 and 18 deaths. Why? Because this damned matchmaking system continually pairs me with people who have prestiged several times, people who are far above my level, and people who just camp.


I've endured several hours of this crap, waiting for a possible glimmer of hope in a game where I wasn't so hopeless, but alas I have found nothing. after at least 20 games, I have found none in which someone was within 10 levels of me.


This. Is. Bull. I was having great fun knifing people repeatedly, and now nothing I do kills anyone. I use standard cover, and am encountered with entire teams of campers, eagerly waiting in every bush, window, and glitch spot they can to get cheap kills.




If this keeps going on, by which I mean the fact that the online multiplayer is matching me with people who are exclusively at least 10 levels above me, and most of whom have prestiged (reached max level and started back from level 1), than this game is going permanently on the shelf. My dad has no reason to play it anymore after beating SpecOps, and I will have no reason to because multiplayer is now, to put it lightly, a steaming pile of crap.

Has anyone reached these levels yet and why does this keep happening? Even though my level is getting somewhat high, I am horrible at the game, and only good guns make me get those epic amounts of kills.

Anyway, this game MP is terribad. Not surprised the top is being taken over by campers and other loophole abusers.

Played MW2, don't really any more. It just frustrated the hell out of me. Commando super lunger's, care package glichers, broken and hacked lobby's, one man army exploitation to spam noobtubes, tactical insertion boosting, nuke boosting and many more problems.

The games just more trouble than it's worth, it's new concepts were novel at first but they've all now been exploited in some way.

Just play TF2.

Well, taking away dedicated servers makes the experience universally bad. But on a console, I guess you never got a choice. At least now you can feel better that PC-users have to go through the same thing?

yeah, but now i'm using legitimate tactics with M-16's; setting up a sniping position, taking cover behind stuff.

basically it all just boils down to either I have a good position and the enemy has uber-vision and can somehow see me when I can't see them when looking right at them on a 55-inch HDTV, I try to establish a position and find it being camped, and get killed about 2-3 more tims before i decide to AT-4 and Thumper the hell out of the place (after which number 1 takes place), or I am trying to find people and then someone from some random place kills me when i had no idea anyone was there.


in all instances, I am almost exclusively killed by campers with dual-wielded double-barrel shotguns, or dual-wielded guns from 1887 (both ridiculous as the amount of force generated by a shotgun going off supported by one arm would likely cause it to fly out of your hands), or a sniper hiding in some crazy position no one can find and who 1-shots me every time.

I use commando pro; honestly I don't usually try to knife someone unless i'm in the normal knifing distance, though that is kind of a ridiculous perk. actually, the care package glitch...doesnt work. your sprint speed and distance is determined by what gun you started with as your primary weapon. so, if you start out with a mini-uzi and then pick up a barret .50 cal, you will go the same sprinting speed. also if you switch to a secondary it is still the same speed as the primary weapon that you start with. 1manarmy exploitation? never heard of or seen that...elaborate? not doubting you, just never heard of it.


i agree though that most of it has become simple exploits done to get cheap kills. honestly the only reason I don't camp is that for me, it's no fun. I'm here to have fun, not camp with 2 double barrel shotguns in a corner waiting for people to come by.





TF2? never played the first, though it looks kinda cartoony. I think I might go back to CoD 4 or CoD:WaW. unfortunately I don't have many FPS's like CoD, so I'm pretty limited in FPS-world.

FO3 is working again though, so I'll play that and download a mod when i get a playthrough in. maybe revert to some old saves and see what happens if i dont blow up megaton, that sorta thing.

L4D2.

You'll be screaming in frustration as I hunterpunt you, jump dodge your tank swings and charges, and deny your ninja booms. Then you'll pull hair out as I ninja swipe you, or leave you to die from a single hit by a CI.

i tried L4D2. its k; i got lost on the first level and started playing more MW2. maybe ill try it again.

Pever you up for a co-op? if you have an xbox of course.

I do, but I'm a Righta Clicka. Games are better on PC.

If you have trouble figuring out where to go in a level, chuck me a PM and i'll give you directions.

Well, it's a run and gun game and not a tactical shooter, unless you camp on a roof for example.
I'm not very good at run and gun either but that doesn't stop me from trying. :laugh4:

Either way I can tell you that Akimbo G-18s can easily rule the game, of course you will have to have the ability to react really quickly and aim correctly while doing so, in other words, it's like Quake or Doom with US army skins.
In this one I can have some fun, especially playing with friends, but if the next goes even more in that direction, I'll skip it.

It's a love-hate thing for me.

Hmm, sad to hear you so disappointed, PI, but from what I heard, the original, the first CoD: MW had superb multiplayer, in fact, allegedly one of the best ever. All the guys at my school used to play, and that was back then when I was still in school (two years ago). Has it gotten worse after time, or is MW2 especially rotten?

Those are fantastic. I played ET a while back, fairly religiously for a few months/a year. Never competitively and never anywhere close to that good though. And I personally never found the panzerfaust to be that overpowered, actually. It's just a wonderfully dismissive turn of phrase. :beam:

I played competitively and was eventually in a high national clan. Me and my clan participated in the 4-year per time National Cup, but we ended losing in the semi-finals by 4 seconds on Supply map. It was the most frustrating moment of my life. The guys we lost against ended up winning the Cup (They lost the Final but it was later proven that some of the original winning clan's members had cheated)

A cup before that one I managed to rack up a 15-2 (15 kills 2 deaths) in 2 minutes, with a MG42.

Make a class with a noobtube attachment and one man army as a secondary and add claymores to. Spam claymores and camp with a noobtube. When your ammo runs out simply reload using one man army to the same noobtube class and all your ammos back. It's more effective than scavenger as you don'tr need to go to the body to refill ammo.

People basically just camp with claymores and fire off noobtubes all day long. With danger close on the damage and radius is ridiculous so there's no surviving.

I've only been playing MW2 multiplayer for the last week or so. It certainly doesn't seem as fun as COD4, but I am a bit late to the party.

I have some very very fond memories of ETW. I played it rather too much in my final year of Uni. Does anyone here play it still? If so, I'd be well up for a game (although i'd prob be completely off the ball now).

For that matter, I did try ET:Quake Wars. That game was good (if a littel over complicated) but seriously lacked a decent player base.

yeah, MW1 is still totally fun. espeically with so fewer exploits. the only thing I truly detest is the ACOG's, that instead fo a crosshair in the middle instead have 2/3 of a triangle, making it 10 times harder to shoot accurately with it. i still play it occasionally. i may just go back to it.


as shameful as it sounds....i may have to strat doing thin 1manarmy glitch......yes, please scold and laugh. but if its me playing fair versus campers and exploiters cheating, than I see nothing wrong with leveling the playing field if you get what I mean. still, it weighs heavily on me :shame: .

alright, i played with my friends today on...uhh....the 18-player playlist. i decided im gonna be just as unfair as everyone else and camp and noob-tube. since i have the ACR now, i'm getting lots of kills, though id like to get a nuke at some point.

for now i have to settle with AC-130 being my highest.

What is this "fun"? Obviously, you play online computer games to make other people feel frustrated and suffer.

That's obviously the whole point of the game or why did the developers add a 25 kills killstreak reward and several pictures(like "Bow Down") that are shown to the other guy after you killed him?

Improve your skills, campers are big problem in all Call of Duty's though, hate the cheap pricks.

Being enough of a loser to get a 25 kill killstreak on Call of Duty should be punished, not rewarded.

Well, if you ask me, akimbo should be removed from the game completely, while jumping there should be a possibility to literally shoot yourself in the foot if you pull the trigger and aiming while running around should be even more inaccurate, and then maybe turn all game modes into hardcore. :juggle2:
Oh and the knife, less range and if both people press the button the second should defend against it so it's back to gunz. And it's damage should be more random from instakill to pretty hurt.

It works as it is but the akimbo G18 reminds me of the Wirbelwind in CoH, you simply lose if you attack it with infantry, unfortunately COD, unlike CoH, is all about infantry, it's become a bit silly IMO, given that the graphics are all realistic etc., I wouldn't mind space marines running around like that, or space orcs. :sweatdrop:

That is why I don't like games such as MW2 that much for their combat.

You can spray some one full of lead and they act if nothing happed, but a stratch with a knife? Dead.

Well, I don't mind it in Battlefield (Bad Company) because the Batlefields are far more open, you don't jump 3 meters forward when doing it and the other guy usually gets a fair chance to stop you before you get close enough, but COD has a lot of close quarters combat and you can run ridiculously fast so some people run around and use almost exclusively the knife.

I cannot understand why you would go to the hassle, and spend the time camping to get such high kill streaks, just so you turn a greyed out picture into a coloured in one. That goes for any game.

I noticed that phenomenon with my son and nephew. I remember them way back in the Modern Warfare era (:laugh4:) bitterly complaining about other players always using "noob tubes". On vacation a couple of summers back, my brother and I joined them in a little off-line multiplayer Modern Warfare. My brother and I had just dabbled once or twice with the game so we were pretty bad but the boys played constantly. Guess what their favourite weapon was to kill us? Right, the noob tube (like they needed it). When we pointed out the hypocracy, they just gave a little grinned and shrugged. "Do unto others what you DON'T want them to do to you" seems common in these FPS games if two plus years of watching the boys play is any indication. Though to be fair to them, they are rarely guilty of camping.

Just play TF2. No grenades or campers there, thank God :yes:

the best matches are those with 2 campers, 2 guys with akimbo shotguns/G18s and 2 guys noobtubing.
And it's almost guaranteed that you will happen upon the wrong person at the wrong time and in the wrong position. :laugh4:

ummm.....what? i dont know what you were saying about EU 3, but I know that getting 7 kills guarantees you a nuke if you have harriers and chopper gunner. AC-130 is better on maps like Rust, but most of the time chopper gunners can get inside buildings pretty easy.

i dont remember it being a problem in cod4. luckily, all the good cod4 players now play mw2, so i pown when i play it.

I was comparing getting a 25 kill streak on COD to doing a world conquest with Mazovia, a tiny principality in the centre of Poland. Both require similar levels of desperation.

I understand. Everyone has a line that they draw between their hobby/interest and what they perceive as unhealthy/sad/obsession/addiction.

I do find it amusing that you proclaim a boundary to acceptable enthusiasm, interest and application on a forum for computer game enthusiasts. For some people (e.g. my girlfriend...), even talking about computer games might in itself consitute a fair degree of "desperation" or "dumbness".

i think everyone at one time or another does. however its the fact that many of the people simply use the same cheap tactic the entire 10 minute game, rather than try to play the game like it's supposed to be every minute or two.

as Alh_p said; everyone has their own boundaries. i think trying to dominate the entire world in E:TW with Prussia or Marathas is easy enough that it isn't unhealthy (took me a few weeks BTW). however I think that going into Oblivion and Morrowind and searching for every single little tiny easter egg, killing every single person you can after completing all the quests, and continuing to RP after completing all those quests.....is more than a little over-the-top. thats like a hundred miles over the top.

getting a nuke isn't as hard as i make it sound; its really the campers that ruin it for me.

It never ceases to amaze me that the top kill streak in MW2 is, in essense, a button that flat ends the game. You stop cold all enjoyment of the game for everyone else and kill all playing, even teammates. With a finisher like that it's no wonder people resort to the "cheap" tactics, the game is encouraging it after all.
