The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [Concluded]
https://img190.imageshack.us/img190/4527/romed.jpg
The Year is 69 AD in the Christian Calender and the Republic of Rome has returned under the leadership of the Epicharis and Faenus Rufus. Rome has entered a glorious new age with the senate restored to its rightful place as the leaders of Rome.As the sun falls over the city and the moon rises the many Senators are happy. They are now powerful once more many of them have taken the chance to gain large amounts of money. Bribes are common and corruption is increasing yet there are still some men idealistic though they may be that continue to fight for the Republic and all that is good and decent. As time wears on they have some victories and some losses but overall they are beginning to win the fight. However not all is good in this land. There are rumours and plots arising in the provinces. There are men who feel that Rome is weak that it is unable to defend the Empire it has gained over the years. Whilst these threats from outside of Rome are scary there is more threats lurking from within. These men that wish harm upon the Senate and the People of Rome must be stopped for if they are not the very fabric of Rome may crumble and die. Without the Senate being strong the rule of Tyrants and Emperors shall return to Rome. The Senate was decimated naught but 5 years ago of its Nero loyalists the Senate could not survive a second culling. With the Senate dead Rome may very well fall. Men of great names like Vespasian are gaining in power as some think that perhaps that overthrow of the Emperors was a mistake. It is up to the Senate to defend Rome once more against the forces that wish for its destruction
This is the third in the series of Roman games. This is the first game that will not be based off an actual historical event and some of the characters in the game will be fictional as due to the deaths in the previous game there is not enough historical figures to make up the game. The rules will be the same as previous games. No screen shots and the such and such.

Is participation in either of the previous Roman games or any Mafia game at all a prerequisite?

I'd like to change my status to reserve. If you don't get enough players I'll still play, if you get enough without me, I'll be a backup
-
Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian
I am going to give this a few more days to get the numbers if not I will make a mini mafia based on Rome.

I'll play, even though I'm booked solid by commitments. Anything to help a fellow game host.

Welcome to bestrfc, should be your first game at the .org? CFC'ers know him well.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
Thank you everyone we will go one more day and then we shall begin with however many more people we get.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
It looks like you would want more players, so I'll try and set aside some time for this.
In please

How ya doing, Captain Blackadder? Think you can make a decent game out of these?

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
Well I'm new to Mafia, and I'd love to join, but before I do can somebody link me to one of the previous games? I'd just like to check out the rules, time per phase and suchlike before I join in.
EDIT: As I'm about to go to sleep, would I be able to reserve a place for the interim and confirm in the morning? Hope it's not too much trouble.

Most certainly my brother came over for the week so I haven't being on the comp that much to write pm's so it will start tomorrow evening my time.

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
Well I'm still a little hazy as to how this will play, but I'll probably pick it up as I go along. Count me in!

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
Excellent that is the game full with role pm's to go out. Since it appears that we have some new players I will explain the rules and concept of the game.
The game is called mafia basically what happens is that you have is a group called the Mafia that know who each other are and they have the job to kill all the other players who are called the town. Now the game swaps between a day phase and a night phase. It begins with a day phase what you have to do is vote for whomever you think is part of the mafia. After 24 hours the votes are tabulated and then that person is killed and removed from the game. Then we move into night you may continue to post but there is no voting you send in orders based on your abilities and the mafia tells me who they want to kill. The game then swaps between these two phases until either the mafia are all dead or the mafia outnumbers the town.
-
Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
I noticed in your previous games that there was both an 'Exile' and 'Execute' option when voting - are you still doing that? Also, will you tell us what the roles are or do we have to figure it out for ourselves?
Incidentally, thanks for being so helpful.
-
Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
No it is not in the game since in the first game it was never used so I took that as a sign that people didn't want it. However I could put it back in this game if people wanted it. I will tell you your roles as of now I am going through the list and are sending them out.
-
Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
All Pm's have being sent let the game begin. This round will finish at 12.00 hours GMT

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
Vote: PopulusRomanus, do you truly have the good of the people in your heart, or is it merely indulgences and luxury that you seek. The people might love you, but perhaps you are leading them on like sheep, in order for them to flock to you, waiting on you on bended knee. Will you strike them down if they no longer love you?

Re: The Rise and Fall of Vespasian [In Sign-ups]
A warning to all who would bring Rome once more under the Imperial yoke: glimpse through your hubris a Neroic downfall. I believe that Titus Flavius Vespasianus is one of those to whom I refer. I believe furthermore that he is a good man; but he will never be a good emperor - no one can. If Flavius Vespasianus truly loves Rome, he will realize that only throuugh its Senate can it survive in this age. No autocratic gesture will ever match the glory of faithful service to the SPQR.
Vote: Abstain
Great men of Rome, this is not the time to be at each others' throats. We must root out the traitors in our midst, to be sure, but beyond that we must maintain stability in the Republic. These wild accusations being levied at men of great stature are backed only by augury and divination; this is not how the gods act, as you well know. Hope that they do not visit blight and destruction on our city over your presumption!

For being a classist. Someone needs to get his silk panties out of a wad and have the silver spoon lynched from his mouth. Inciting between the upper and lower class is not the way forward, it is the status quo and exactly what the scummies want.

To save our poor host the trouble of calling a tiebreaker, I'm going to unvote, vote: EliteofWarman.... Your reasoning for bandwagoning robbiecon was a little flimsy, MRD has been contributing more so far, and robbiecon made a passable go at roleplaying . Nothing personal.

As the Senate debates and rages on and on many Senators are implicated in this new threat to the republic. Some Senators appear to be using this chance to settle old scores. These men will stop at nothing to ruin another Senators dignitas. As is common with these things the first man to go is the one that has little power. It is the kind of man who was quiet and no one knew what he was up to. Unlike many of the other Senators this man was no great war leader, he was no great general nor a great orator who could capture his audience and make them believe as he wished. Instead as the senators turn on him Sextus Julius Frontinus (KingWarman) just sits there continuing to read his books and write down notes. Sextus Julius Frontinus is going to be known throughout the ages. As the Lictors drag him out of the Senate to take him up to the Saxum Tarpeium to through him off it down 25 metres to the sharp rocks there are few that moan his passing. Once the scream of the man is heard the senators file out of the building. As the last one leaves he bends down to pick up whatever Sextus was writing he looks down at it sees the title page which reads De Aqueductibus Urbis Romae. The man looks at it for but a second before throwing onto one of the fires lighting the Senate House with this final act there will be no memory of Sextus Julius Frontinus and what he did.
KingWarman Sextus Julius Frontinus is dead
Begin Night One
