Random Thoughts Thread
Post you random thoughts here. You know, those little flickers of thought that are not worth started a whole thread for, but that you feel like sharing anyway. They can be deep, they can be silly, they can be funny, they can even be stupid, but please keep them clean.
Think of it as the twitter thread. Feel free to discuss other's thoughts.

I want a beer tonight, but can't decide which one. Does it make sense to pick a Chouffe since I still have half a crate and only a few of the other beers?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I live rather close the the Menominee reserve and have known and seen a lot of NA, and none of them have been able to grow facial hair. I may be wrong, but as far as I understand it they cannot unless they also have other genetic material that will allow them to. I may be wildly wrong there, but that is how I understand it and personal observation bears that out.

Ah, cool. I some times feel as if we (the modern world, including NAs) know very little about NA history.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Im fairly certain that the guy Im re-leasing my apartment from is stiffing me $100/m on rent. The agreement was that I would pay $400/m of a $790 bill while he would cover the other $390. Yet he only gave me checks for $290. I have email correspondence with the guy saying that I would be paying $400/m, but now Im not sure what to do.

anyways, more randomness:
-the Shang sure knew how to imitate Mortal Kombat. Or did Mortal Kombat imitate them?
-mmm....maple syrup.
-I just realized: they should totally have a Judge Di Noir game--just like LA Noire. I can see it now: shouting "Judge Di! Zhangguo PD!!" as some crook gets busted. China PD doesn't flow as well. might be hard to do shoot-outs though, being before gunpowder and all. clues might be more abstract and harder to spot. definitely the same voice actor as the one for Cole Phelps.

Either a desktop PC or Steam Box would be the best choice. :)
-
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I don't have enough space for a desktop, I live on 50 square meters. Steambox sounds awesome it's nice and tiny but I don't want to be left out with functionality-problems because of poor optimalisation for it. I am leaning towards the Wii-U but Nintendo really ought to give it some more love. So far the only game I would want to get it for is the remake of the Wind Waker. Needs new Metroid.
-
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
No one knows what the Steambox is.
Wii-U is pointless because it has no games. Hence why it has sold extremely poorly.
Ouya was a scam from the beginning.
PS4 is the only legitimate gaming console at the moment until Microsoft actually starts talking about games at E3.
-
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Wii-u will get games first-party eventually. I at least want to play the windwaker again without that annoying blur. It also has a lot of retro goodnes, and it's backwards compatible. Leaning towards the Wii-u. PS4 is a beast though, is going to be ahead of even a high-end pc for a while

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Friend reminded me of something I forgot, I stealed my own bike. I broke the lock without noticing it was my own. Even better, when I was still in Amsterdam I had the police steal one for me. We were breaking the lock and got busted by the police. We sugartalked our way out and tricked the police into breaking the lock for us. Heh
Might as well share another police fail, me so leet. Mounted police was riding past us and I said to my friend that the dick is usually below. He didn't apreciate it and tried to corner me but I have had horses for years I know exactly how to calm them, you put your hand on their snout and pet them. The dick on the horse was immediatly a limb one. He fined me for insulting him but he refused to show his identification, I called the police-station when I was home and warned them there were fake cops handing out fines. Got away with this one as well, fine was canceled. Fun times

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
lol mate, now you are coming across as a bit of a schmuck. Why in heck would you steal people's bikes? For all you know, the people who own them could have very little money and a low paying job, and that could make their life a lot harder. That's not cool at all.

Stealing bikes is a national sport, if it isn't an expensive one it's more like borrowing. If it was yours that was stolen you curse because you have to walk and buy a new one from a junkie for 10 euro next day.

Apparently, burglars are now aiming for garden houses in our town. The police advices citizens to put a decent lock on your garden house. Our ancient garden house doesn't even have a door, so a lock seems pretty useless.
We have menacing looking gras though, so I hope that'll keep the burglars away.

ANECDOTE, I didn't have enough money to pay for my groceries, bank was late. So I jokingly said to the cassierre, middle-aged Turkish that is 1.50 at best, that I would have to look my mommy in the eyes really nice. She exploded and I got verbally bitchslapped about responsibility and savings in front of a whole line of customers, and that I should be providing her instead of the other way around. Walked out red as a tomatoe with the eyes of chuckling customers firmly in my back

I recall watching a local-news broadcast about something or other that was related to milk costing as much as $4 a gallon. That was a decade ago.
AFAIK, most of the milk sold in my area costs $4 a gallon today.
Is that a good thing?
What are other Orgahs paying for (a gallon of) milk?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Usually about 99p for 2 litres, I guess about £2.50 for a gallon = US$ 3.77.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Isn't a gallon of milk a bit unwieldy? 3 litre cartons are large enough and a gallon is 50% bigger.
edit: Just checked, a US gallon is smaller than a British gallon. Still nearly 4 litres though.

lol, depends if you drink a lot of milk or not. I buy 6 gallons at a time, and carry 3 in each hand. (because pride will not allow me to make two trips like my girlfriend).

It's quite the same over here. It's like bikes are a bit of general property. You take one use it drop it, someone else takes it drops it. If yours is taken you take someone else and so on. It's almost communism on small scale.

I sense an untapped market for bicycle locks and chains.
Now if I can only find the capital to setup, I'll be a millionaire in no time. :laugh4:

The lock is more expensive than the bike ;) An expensive lock might prevent theft but your bike will be vandalised. As Moros rightly says, bycicles are regarded as common property. Nobody will get overly angry if it gets snatched. Rules of chivalry is that you only steal the ones that are already falling apart, it's not seen as a crime. Grand Theft Bycicle ;)

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I just wrote 24 headlines for the same dang article, and still they aren't happy. Here's the thing: Good writing of any sort depends on specifics.
If I write, "Lemur Bad," there's no impact, no resonance, nothing. "Bad" lacks the specifics.
If I write, "Lemur Known Goat Molester," suddenly you have an image to work with, and the whole thing makes sense.
Anyway. These idiots want a headline that says everything, hence their inability to settle on a single message. I keep pushing back at them, but this is going to be a long day.

I often have dreams that are very pleasant at the time and when I awake, i find myself somewhat sad and deflated. I had one about a college dream girl that touched the little boy inside me at the time last night. I don't remember the details of the dream, but whatever they were I was sad to see them go when i awoke. I guess I just need a girlfriend. :/

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Talked with a friend about schooltime. I am a bit legendary I once failed my exams because happy-hour and a nice sunny day was the better proposition. Good thinking, one year extra. Official rules were that if you got kicked of class 3 times you got kicked out of school but the rector really liked me, if I got kicked out of class, which happened a lot, I got one hour of bringing him coffee and having a laugh with him. Funniest anecdote; I could one day choose between an hour of coffee-duty or a kick for my ass. I chosed the kick but the bastard didn't tell me it would be my 2 meter tall French teacher giving it. Ouch. He liked me less. Don't think things like that would be possible nowadays. Any other person would have kicked me from school I owe a lot to that guy, he told my worried mother that I made his job more interesting.

NO and if you disagree you suck at every facet of life possible, even your mom should hate you and find you ugly if that's your opinion. Your opinion is like a reversed Mount-Everest, it couldn't possibly get any lower than that. Even your grandma would reconsider ever giving birth to your mother if she would know what you turned out to be.
In short, Planet Terror is better.
Now for random thoughts, it's odd. I am right-handed but I shoot better with my left hand.

Also, it is possible to get lower than a reverse Mount Everest, it's called the Marianas Trench. ~;p

Not odd at all. Many people with a dominant right hand have a dominant left eye. It is better to shoot with your dominant eye than your dominant hand. You probably have a dominant left eye, so it is more natural for you.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I got written up at work today for giving a child something to eat.
This guy came in with his little daughter and started ordering a large sandwhich as a large combo. His daughter kept asking him to get her something to eat and he got aggrevated and told her "I don't got the money, you can eat when we get home."
Of course, he could have bought a $5 combo instead of a 9$ combo and would have been able to afford her a kid's meal. The little girl look really hungry and had to just watch him eat, so I made her a kid's sandwhich and put it in a bag with a toy and a kid's fry and handed it to her with a kid's cup. Instead of feeling ashamed of himself, the father just told her "There! Now you got something to eat." He didn't even say, "thank you".
I told my manager that I was going to pay for the kid's meal myself when I bought my food, but as I didn't pay for it in advance, I was chewed out about how she could prosecute me for stealing and was handed a write-up. (The first one I have ever gotten that was not revoked)
I'm not sure if I am more disgusted with the parent or with my manager now. Oh well, tomorrow is my last day working there, then I won't have to put up with the bullshit anymore.
-
Re: Random Thoughts Thread

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
With all the crisis and so many people being on a tight budget, I wonder if it would be profitable to sell cheap and healthy holidays, that consist of an indoor cycle and 3 DVD's about the country of your choice. Perhaps, I could make it cheap, healthy and cullinary holidays and add a book with recipes. Or I could go even cheaper by telling the people they need to have their own indoor bicycle and just give them a link to a website with recipes. Or a link to the google results of the search "healthy food recipes". The cost for this would be minimal, so it's impossible not to make profits, right? Bill Gates should be taking lessons from me.
