Chancellor's Report 1234 AD
My noble lords, this year started again with mixed signals. Let me present to you the bad news first so the good news may lighten you up thereafter.
The first news that reached me this year was that my current residence Sofia is under siege. However, I intend to remedy this quickly.
Secondly, the pope has sent a letter regarding the Milanese:
Further, several of our allies have made peace with our mortal enemies, except for the pope who is now at war with the heathen Egyptians.
This certainly may mean that we may find ourselves at odds with our allies soon.
The former French crusading army has moved north to Prague but has not yet laid siege. I hope to drive them from our lands immediately.
The Russians have moved their force outside Thorn. I fear the FHA will have another battle at hand this very year.
Lastly, and this is the worst news of the year, the plague has struck Antioch and killed many good Christians and soldiers. I shall arrange for Karl Zirn to leave the city immediately if he is not yet afflicted.
Now to the good news. Sofia has accepted a master swordsmith guild. It looks like our newly conquered territory will be the heart of the new German swordscraft. In addition, our first regiment of Gothic Knights has been trained inside Sofia and is ready to be used in combat this very year. I shall report back on their abilites.
In other news, Ludwig von Düsseldorf has been called to the college of cardinals to replace the fallen Tancred von Magdeburg. Let us hope that this man will have more success.
