I have a little question, Obelics, which you do not have to answer if you dislike, but where did you get your french expressions from?

well, could be i like french music so much (not too much modern music, lets say, more or less, until the end of the 70's), love it, i know some of it at memory, brassens, gainsbourg, vian, aznavour etc. so, often i write the things, ok not only the aar, listening to that... so it could be it is stronger than me, i have to put some little things in french... "les cochons" it could be i was listening Jacques Brel at that moment... (les bourgeoises).
Regarding Capitain Gaston, he was inspired by G.Brassens, if you have under hand a photo of Brassens, you can see his face is THE SAME as the Zradha Pahlavans...

here's a small update, it is the first part of a bigger one i hadn't the time to complete. So for now take this first part, few battleshots and a lot of those strange pergamenes... it's just a transitional update. Hope not too bad. The story is proceeding on 3 Lines. A first fictional line completely free, A second pseudo-historical line, where i try to pursue just an historical "flavour". And a third narrative line, when i try to be inspired, in my limits, by the romance satyricon. It's not the case of this update, where there are present only the first 2 lines. Press F11 on the Keyboard and here we go:

    TABULA VII - A

Then we saw how it ended the good old Attilius... he was forced to rush the decisions and to accept the battle by the evil Carthaginians, cause there were more dangers coming from an unexpected direction, we know, sometimes, when you think you are actually fighting your enemy, well, that is the moment you are with your back exposed to what until now you reputed your friends... and PAM! that's the moment your so called friends could stab at you deep in the flesh... that was what happened here. The Senate was considering to sent another General in Africa, as an exponent of the Party that was favourable to peace. This party was growing up thanks to the increasing expenses of war, Rome was subjected, expenses that were huge in a war enduring for some years desormais. That was the real cause that forced Attilius to accelerate the operations. He needed a strong victory before the arrival of a Collegue. If his sad end had a consequence, this consequence was that to weaken the Party of the "war at all costs", but not the belligerant spirit of Roma, that was not anymore of the idea to destroy Carthage, but for sure She, the Urbs Eterna, would have fight until have won the war.
Anyway, here's the first of a series of documents we are getting used to find left and right, here and there, but that still we dont understand. A greek slave sayd he would have decrypted... but he hasn't producted results yet:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

and here's where all the cash is going to get vaporized...

    CCLVI:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

a fleet of more than two hundred Triremes and Pentekonteres... most of that was built up in the dockyards of the subjected southern towns...

    CCLV:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

we cant allow anymore to have a so dangerous neighbour there around the sea...so Scipio, this strange guy, the true and only double-sided one, was sent...

lets say that not even a single Punic speaking guy was found on the isle... and well, you have to read one more of these ok, i know they are a lot...anyway CCLIV:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

...the Carthaginian garrison revolted, but there are still some few residual forces to terminate...

... dont say it to me... i sayd they were a lot... anyway CCLIII:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

they sent a fleet of half an hundred ships to try to retake the isle, a small army landed there south of Karalis too... they have undervaluated our organizative skills... never expected to meet a fleet of more than 200 ships...

that was, the enemy fleet commander was taken completely by surprise, he tryed a diversive maneouvre to avoid the battle, but he was engulfed with the back on the cliffs, and the sun in the front... also, they could not abandon their disembarked army there on the shores of Sardinia...

not a great battle from our side, but it was our first real naval battle anyway... so despite its minority, it was worth to be told we hope.

With no more support by the fleet, and enjoying the sad view of the corpses of their friends emerging from the waters, there along the beach, the Punic Army was completely dishearten, and well, outnumbered...

    CCLII:

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

We can say our war with Carthage is finally come to an end.
Sadly, a Town friend of Rome has fallen under the barbarian hordes of the Gauls... Other towns will not suffer the same Fate of the poor Massiliotes...

as you can see here, some of the things written there, actually happened... othere really do not match... that's that misterious mistery hidden behind this strange papers... a last one coded FERRARA1516 - 251BC bah...

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

we expect some few years of peace and tranquillity... naaaah, just kidding, dont worry, that was a sad day(?!?) yesterday for the Republic, but we will come back! We are your bad coscience...;)

    hope enjoyed.

thanks! pity there isn't just a minigame for navalbattles. i say just a 2D single screen sprites minigame. Would have been very nice, like in the old-time school multy-screen games. I say just move your cloud of pixels (that is an huge fleet) against an enemy cloud of pixels, on a 2d bitmap sea, add some tactical manouvres, etc... it seems actual designers haven't much fantasy...

anyway update soon... my generals are so eager to spread their love around the world...

here's that second and last part of table 7, it came out too big, and it took a while to complete, so i splitted it in two parts, having so, the time to complete it. I hope the evil perspective im using, is not getting me too much, im doing this just for fun, and with no pretensions, so, some time i like to "derange" the story out of the lines. Remember to press F11 and here we go (fast and furious):

    TABULA VII - B

Parcite luminibus, seu vir seu femina fiat obvia
[keep your eyes away, men and women who meet me along the way...]

    Albio Tibullus

yes, we won our war with Carthage... this is just a preventive mission...

    CCL:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

They didn't accept to fall under our influence...

briefing under the sun, too much sun straight there on your head, those metallic helmet can burn-out your brain you know...

not too much time to enjoy the trip...

    and so the battle...

little green sheppards on the edge...

the lieutenants of Raul are not that nicier than their touchy leader...

but the qestion is just one, where the hell is that sick guy of an EPANDROS???

death could arrive there where you were never expecting it...

    now seek and destroy!

...in 250 B.C. Emporion is officially declared "NO MAN'S LAND"...

there is love in this man...

there are things in life you will never be enough used to...

    time to rest...

and a lot of people out there are just waiting for the inexhaustible fire of love kept hidden inside the heart of our men, not an official decision was taken yet... now that Carthage was pacified, we fear to be left out from the rich trading routs of the northern lands, leaving this routs lying there in Barbarian hands, means to renounce to a great opportunity to unificate the prolific exchanges that link the wild north to the productive south... but others, they fear even more the vague possibility that Carthage could raise up from its defeats, and become a greater menace for the Republic... they are, the nasty Carthaginians, expanding bad their sad influence in Iberia, so that a path of a further expansion for us, could be already drawn down all nice and prepared, in such direction. A decision is still to be taken by the way... as usually world is vast and misterious, and even more mysterious mysteries lay there out the walls...

    Great job, friend!
Your graphical presentation has reached another level of perfectness and when Epandros died of a heart-attack, I have really bursted-out laughing As I was reading it at work it caused a lot of curiosity in my office...

Deep respect to the incredible ammount of work it has to take to create such a cartoon. Keep on!

thanks for the feedback vtmarvin, sub, gappo, eliad, watchm, tristus, hguy, moose and all the other friends (i wrote some of the names just randomly so they are not in order of what i like more, and i missed some names not on purpose , i meant thanks everyone ), as usually the feedback are really appreciated, and are all motivation points to continue it. I have to play the new 1.1 until that Emporion, or to continue it on 1.0, so i dont know. We will see soon. Thanks again alls.

AH! Finally I made the Little Glossary of Tables V, VI, VII-A and VII-B, and updated the House-Rules on the first post of this thread. Also i added the Titles for these 4 Tables. They are alls under the Spoilers (click on it to read)

    Salut

Your kung fu is very good! (i dont know why the hell i come addicted to this kind of sentence )

EDIT: I also added direct links to the differents chapters, so now if you click on the title in the first thread, it open a single post page with that chapters. (uff, that was a work...)

Hey Obelics, I'd like to send best greetings into the continuum! And don't condemn your lazyness too much. Lazyness is a good friend, that keeps you from burning the candle from both sides. I'm shure your next update will be much better after a good period of fruitful lazyness.
