Report for 1105

1105 was a year of mind-numbingly little activity. Everybody was maneuvering.

In the west, there are some who wish to block the German crusade. I would like to remind them that since we are now at war, merely standing at a mountain pass with just your own bodyguard will do little to stop them. Diplomatic contact will be established with the Germans next year.

In the east, more maneuvering. Trebizond still under siege.

The Order can't get passed some Templar guy, but that'll probably get sorted soon enough.

The Franks have also declared war on the Fatimids and we may be dealing with a second crusade.

The only truly interesting news are that Ioannis Komnenos has had a son, and Kosmas Mavorozmis has had a daughter.

The only major construction was a shipwright in Constantinople, which will allow use to deploy the shooting fire to the fleet.

The treasury actually ended up gaining about 100 florins.

Moved army one space to attempt to get around pokey-mc-pokey-pants the lost Templar. Armatos was fully supplied so I moved him to take over the army and bring an archer regiment.

I advise the Megas Logothetes to start building of a Chapel to reassert our sway over the significant Orthodox populace in this region. A watchtower near the Turkish frontier would also serve to further secure the Eastern frontier. Pavlos Chrysovergos may be moved by the Megas for this purpose.

Moved Savvas ek Militou and his cavalry units towards the east, as a fast strike force to scout on the German crusaders and, if necessary (i.e. in case they become aggressive), to harass them and weaken them before the Basileus attacks them with his army. Ordered the infantry to garrison Belgrade, to strengthen the Northern frontier.

Pointic Frontier

Pavlos Chrysovergos has regained Trebizond for the Empire! He assaulted the fort in the first battle agaist the Turks since peace broke out a few years ago.

Eastern Frontier / Anatolian Offensive

Ioannis Kalameteros and I are a year away from Iconium, where the Turkish Sultan currently is, and which has been garrisoned more heavily

Danubian Frontier

Basileus Alexios has returned to Bucharest. Savvas ek Militou and Tagaris still attempt to stop the German crusade. Since they have no troops with them, they will be happy to know that I have negotiated a ceasefire with the Germans. There were happy to accept.

However, the Germans have made it through. They have come through a pass in the Carpathians, and will be able to reach a bridge on the Danube before any of our troops.

Sea

A German fleet has been sighted off the Peloponnesus. It is small, and was heading north. The Imperial fleet was launched to intercept and monitor. They may have initially been trying to find a sea route for their crusade, but once the crusade found its way, they turned around and headed back west.

Civilian

The ceasefire with the Germans has already been mentioned.

I decided to give the treasury a break, and the only construction was a chapel in Trebizond. Accordingly, the treasury grew by 2500 florins.

The Kalameteros family has had a son. Methodios Tagaris has gotten married.

Queued up 3 RBGs each for woad&fangs and Knights_of_Palma. Due to limited recruitment restrictions in their cities of choice (Belgrade and Antioch), both of those cities are only recruiting 2 RBGs each. The other two are being recruited at Scopia and Aleppo and will be teleported to the proper spot if they are chosen. If those cities are needed for recruitment this year, simply move the RBG recruitment to another spot and inform me of it.

LOTR-1108-3

Moved Mak, Bart, and Iakovos from Antioch to Adana by boat. Moved army to siege Adana and build siege equipment. Before I did this, I moved Armatos out of the army and into the ship. Moved Mak, Bart, and Iakovos into army. Moved Armatos by ship to Antioch but he did not have the MP to make it all the way to the city. He is in the province by the dock.

Moved 2 priests from Antioch to Adana. FD had given Mak control over priests in the Order's area in a previous Megas report. Adana is only at 22% Orthodox and needs some converting.
