    Default Zip Utilities--Need Lessons!!!

    Dear All:

Greetings from the deep freeze known as Southwestern Ontario! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.

I'm asking any of you kind souls out there if one of you could point me to an easy to use, idiotproof zip utility or give me lessons on how to use same? I see all these wonderful mods like Anno Domini, etc. but they're zip files, and I can't use a zip utility to save my soul, ergo, this flare for .

In closing, if this is in the wrong place, please free to move it.

Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!!

    Sincerely yours always,

    Indy.

What OS are you using, and what compression format do you need unzipped? WinXP has ZIP format decompression built in, it should be fairly straightforward. The 7-Zip utility is an open source compression tool, it decompresses most algorithms.

Well, if you have XP you don't really need a specific utility for opening .zip files. You can treat them just like folders, in effect, double click to open and drag out the contents you want to unzip.

    Gentlemen:

Good afternoon from Canada!!! I hope this finds you and yours well.

I would to be able to open both ZIP and RAR files, like Anno Domini. I hear that one is a pretty good mod. I wouldn't mind trying it out.

    P.S. I'm running Windows XP.

Personally I like winrar. You can continue using it after the trial expires, that is to say that the program doesn't lock you out.

7-Zip will also decompress RAR files, but it doesn't compress into that format.

    Gents:

My luck has usually been all bad when it comes to these things. They always seem to want to unzip only one file, and that doesn't help me much.

Is the utility out there that will unzip a mod in one fell swoop and have done with it? What about WinZip?

Hmm. Probably you have selected one file and it thinks you need to unzip only him, dont select anything after opening and hit 'extract' or select everything and drag into folder you need.

Found 7Zip to be better in compressing that WinRAR.
