Default Modding the size of general units

    Hi there,

Is there a way to mod the size of the general units such that:

All general units have the same size, and that the kings and heir's units are not twice the size of normal generals units.

Yes, all you need to do is remove the personal security bonuses from the factionheir and factionleader traits.

If you want every general under all circumstances to have the same max size, you need to remove all personal security bonuses from every trait.
Want gunpowder, mongols, and timurids to appear when YOU do?
Playing on a different timescale and never get to see the new world or just wanting to change your timescale?

    That is kind of long.

I am currently playing Broken crescent and the general units of the koj
only have 10 or so dudes in them if they are not the faction leader etc.

I have looked in the export_descr_unit.txt and it does not seem to have the size of the unit in it unlike the rest of the units, it could be that I am noob to MTW2 because I am familiar with rome and MTW1 files that I cannot see it. I would probably be happy with 15 guys instead of ten, and then just limit the personal security bonus on the heir and king so that the unit doesn't get huge.

I do have a question , does the personal security bonuses negatively affect the size of the unit?

Nope, only positively. It never goes below minimum but it can go ridiculously high with a lot of personal security.
General's bodyguards have an entry in the unit file as well, but that as I said is the base maximum number. Personal security increases it on a case by case basis.

    I see.

I might just limit the personal security bonus a bit on the faction leader and faction heir traits a bit, I do not mind them having a few more Knights but more than double is a bit silly to me [personal preference only tbh]

anyway thanks for the help dude.

Negative security traits can reduce the number from the normal size. I found BG to be too powerful, so i cut them down to half size. This means 10 men is normal, but as you noted, the King and heir often have twice the man power.
I think this is ok. I reduced the size so that ordinary cavalry and Knights still has a use..
