    Default Paint removal from plastic.

Anyone here know how to safely remove acrylic(?) paint that appears to be somewhat firmly adhered to plastic?

    What kind of plastic?

If it's acrylic paint, you might try rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol. I used to use it (with a toothbrush) to remove paint on models.

Unfortunately, some of the paint is on the sensitive original paint that the figures had. I intend to keep them on those parts.

Isopropyl alcohol shouldn't harm those, but I don't know what it will do to the original factory paint. Acetone will strip acrylic paint, but I wouldn't trust it on plastic and it would probably strip everything. Acetone will melt polystyrene parts.

If you have a damaged figure that you aren't too attached to, I would suggest experimenting on it first.

Hmmm, that's quite an ask to remove one kind of paint, but keep another.

I would experiment first, but Fairey Power Spray is the D's B's when it comes to stripping paint off plastic. See this thread for more details on paint stripping.

Give my command to another, for I cannot, I will not, lead an army into battle against a civilized nation so long as the Gauls survive. I am not the young man I once was, but I swear before Jupiter Optimus Maximus that I shall see a world without Gauls before I take my final breath."

That stuff looks amazing, I wish I had that when I was still serious about model painting. Completely stripped those planes. Looks like it's UK only (made by Proctor and Gamble UK), I wonder if there is a US equivalent.
