    Default Legions

So, how does everyone make their Legions?

I have just recently downloaded EB and haven't slept since, so i'm only in the camillan era. I am playing as the Romani (of course ).

    Here is my basic setup:

    4 Hastati
    4 Princepes
    4 Triarii
    1 Leves
    2 Rorarii
    2 Accensi
    1 Consular Guard Cavalry
2 Camillan People's Cavalry (Thier name slips my mind)

I chose this Legion setup in an historical sense. EB is great already, and role-playing it with realistic legions is great.

I set up my Legion in a Manipular formation, 1 (leves) 4-4-4 (H,P,T) 2 (rorarii) 2 (accensi) 1 Consular, with cavalry on the flanks.

I've read multiple sources on how to fight with them. After my Leves run out of ammo or the enemy starts to advance, I retreat my Leves back to inbetween my General and Accensi line. As I do this, I run my Hastati into a single line (4 ranks deep instead of 8 as previous) on guard mode and fire at will. When my Hastati get to a winded state, I turn on FAW for my Princepes, and then charge with them. As the squares of Princepes arrive behind the hastati, I run my Hastati into their respective "squares", making a single line of alternating units (hastati, princepes, hastati...). I then run my hastati back where the princepes were, and form a single line with the Princepes simultaneously. I then repeat the whole process.

To say the least, I havent lost a single battle as of yet, even when I was being attacked by two full stacks of Arvenii.

Does anyone else use historically acurate Legions/Armies?

Plenty of people like to play historically with the Roman legion. I like to just do whatever I want. I believe the Triarii are also supposed to be halved in comparison to the Principes and Hastati though.

Camillan: 1 of each legion unit type (leves, hastati, principes, triarii, rorarii, accensi)= 6 units+ E.romani

    polybian: 1 velites 2 hastati 2 principes 1 triarii=6 units+E.romani

marian: 5 cohors reformata(or 4 reformata 1 evocati)+1 antisignani (not part of the legion)

    Augustan=5 cohors emperatoria+1 ala imperatoria
    hope that helped...

    PS: 1 full stack=2 legions+1 commander +7 Auxilia

also 1 of each legion (marian and emperial) is a 1st cohort (pullo described it already)

Mine is 4 hastati and princepes. I have 2 triarii. I also have 4 allies of the heaviest locals hopefully with AP but a mix of swords and spears will do. For cav, I'll have 2 pedites extaordinariii. For missles I'll have 1 javelin unit and 2 bows or slings. My tactic is to cycle hastati and princepes when they rout a unit. I wait to take a unit out of guard mode until the enemy becomes winded or I get too compressed or flanked by the enemy.
