Default Any trigger activating Aedui and Averni?

    Hello
this is my first post so I would like to thanks those who worked on this superb conversion! It's way far better than the stock game

And now my question: I'm playing as the Romani and I'm trying not to overwhelm the AI factions: so I've took all Italy, Helvetia + Segestica & Vindibona, then Massillia, Tolosa and Burdigala (they all where rebel cities except Mediolanum which I stripped from Aedui and Italian isles which where Carthaginians: I've then made a truce with both of them). I'm around 245 B.C. now and I'm basically staying in my borders and developing my cities.

And now my question: in all this time, germans (currently my allies) and gauls were pratically "sleeping". Aedui and Averni were at war each other, and even they were at war with Sweboz. There was still plenty of "rebel" cities to took around them. But still they appeared as frozen.

Now: since this was quite weird (they had full stack armies ready to use ...), I've decided to attack the northern territory in Spain (it was rebel faction). Well, as I took it, the others factions I've mentioned above suddenly began conquering and attacking between them (not on me ...), so I wondered if there is any sort of "trigger" that makes them more aggressive depending on the year or on my develompents.

This doesn't apply to other factions, since (with spies, I've got FOW on) I've discovered that, for example, Getai and Lusotanians have expanded quite a lot (but not toward the "sleeping" factions so it's not a "defensive" issue).

    Thanks a lot!

Nah, no trigger, just happens every once in a while.
Sometimes they don´t move for ages, only to suddenly take 5 cities, and sometimes they start off besieging a city every turn without getting anywhere. The Romans are worst at this I find.in my Sweboz campaign theýve besieged Segesta 5 times and Messana 8 (!) times and still havn´t taken either of them. Stupid Romans.

I don't come here a lot any more. You know why? Because you suck. That's right, I'm talking to you. Your annoying attitude, bad grammar, illogical arguments, false beliefs and pathetic attempts at humour have driven me and many other nice people from this forum. You should feel ashamed. actually, the rebel settlements around the Romanii were given strong garrisons to keep them from expanding too quickly...

Did any of the generals of the rebel settlements around there suddenly die out? Maybe due to the loss of the command stars of the general, the auto resolves turned into the favor of the AI.

    Just be patient

I just had to wait until 230BC before carthage started to move :)

it's the same with the gallic factions really... Give them time, and don't expand in th meanwhile.

Oh I'm just building up my cities. Only place where I expanded is a couple of german provinces (Vindelicoppidos and the one right north of ir) but now it seems they have awaken and they're taking all the rebel cities in thier range :D

ok how about this... send an army and besiege an Aedui and Arveni town. They will really get active after you do that

In my Romani campaign their territories didn't change until about 220 BC. And then out of nowhere the Aedui started conquering like crazy. They currently have all of modern day France, except for the southern coastal cities that I hold . And the Arverni have been pushed to the west and have a small part of the Alps.

It gets ridiculous when the AI continously tries to take a city....only to send the remaining troops from their defeat to besiege it again...

All while having 2 full stacks around the city doing ZILCH.

Me hates it.......puny romans do it too much.

Yeah, in my Sweboz campaign they´ve got 3 full stacks around Patavium (not inside the city) doing nothing, while a small army keeps trying to take Segesta and always get´s beaten back. If those Roman armies attacked the city would fall in 2 turns, now they´ve wasted 20 years trying to take it.

Well it seems that I should have said nothing

First, I got attacked by a rebel army in Ebunorum.
Then, sweboz betrayed me, I kicked thier german asses, took one province then asked ceasefire to not obliterate them

Now Aedui sneak attacked me, they razed my puppet state in Massilia (but puppet king fought like a lion on the walls ... shame I had only poor levies butchered by fanatic naked men )

And while all of this is going on, my "allies" Getai suddenly began sending full stacks near my cities on the border, and even tried to assassinate my other puppet king in Ebunorum I will punish them and will fight on three fronts ... hope lusotans stay quiet for now

Anyway, with some house rules battles are really exciting. I'm playing with legions of 2 roarii, 2 hastati, 2 princeps, 1/2 triarii 1 equites + various auxilia/mercenaries I can get. It's not like the boring RTW vanilla battles where you simply flank and rear charge with cavalry and suddenly all enemies are butchered in a second!

However ... I shall not forgive Aedui for razing massilia when I was 1 turn left to build super-mega-amicorum-troops-barracks (--> birhentin and mercenary greek general). I will take the city back and hang those fanatics on the city walls with nails in thier penis
