Thread: Having trouble with install

    Default Having trouble with install

I have never done a mod before so I am somewhat illiterate about these things. I have the Rome total war vers. 1.5 on my computer(never did a mod before so it should be clean) and proceeded to DL this mod. I installed it, but when i try and open it using the shortcut provided i get a "missing shortcut" box. It asks me if i want to change the shortcut to the closest match, which is the vanilla Rome Total war. I don't see a way to open the mod version, did i install it wrong?

Try to change the target to ...\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb

The ellipses is where all the rest of the stuff goes. The important part is the -mod:eb.

If you don't know how to access the target, right click on the shortcut given and go to properties.

The target is already correct. When shortcut is selected i get the following message:"The item 'RomeTW.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly." Is there another possible explanation? Thank you

You installed the file to blahblahblah.../Rome - Total War correct? And not something like blahblahblah.../Rome - Total War/Data.

Well, check if RomeTW.exe exists in the /Rome - Total War folder.

RomeTW is in the Rome-Total War file.

Have you tried allowing it to change to the vanilla Rome - Total war one and then changing it to allow it play EB?

I am 97% sure that you installed EB into the wrong directory. Please check that your RTW directory contains both RomeTW.exe and a folder called EB.

If it doesn't, move the EB directory from wherever you installed it into your RTW directory. Update your shortcut to use the RTW directory instead of wherever you installed EB.

If it does, run the installation validation to see what is different about your installation from mine.
