Thread: CTD in Romani campaign, 208 BC

Default CTD in Romani campaign, 208 BC

Been getting CTD pretty consistently - can log back in and play a bit, then it happens again. Saved this time and uploaded at http://uploaded.to/?id=24cr5v.

This CTD happened pretty instantly when I hit "end turn", and I was looking at Sucum-Murgi, which I had just recaptured from the Lusotanan, when it happened.

Any help will, of course and as always, be deeply appreciated!

    Thanks!

Yes - here and there - Avaricum just revolted to the Aedui (although I had captured it a couple of turns before from the Arverni) - re-started the game and it crashed right after a battle with the Koinon Hellenon, where no revolts were in process?

What's the deal with the "script on" and it crashes, "script off" and it doesn't, but you're supposed to always play with the "script on"?

    Thanks for your help!

Always supposed to keep the script on, else every AI faction will be in debt and you won't have any fun just trouncing small factions left and right.

Have you downloaded the fixes in this thread yet? https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=93820

Has this been happening since the very beginning when you first started out with the Romani or did it happen only after years of the campaign has passed already? Has this happened with other factions that you might've played with?

Last resort could be to try reinstall EB as the script might be corrupted.

I'd check the integrity with the validation tool before trying a reinstall.

Most strange guys - worked around the CTD in 208 - script off, saved game, resumed play, turned script back on, moved along nicely till 205 - in the Aedui turn they sallied from Avaricum to attack me, fought a battle with them on the Battle screen, mopped the field with them, checked the battle stats, hit the 'check' button to end the battle, and CTD again!

I can go back to my last saved game (which was at the end of my turn in 205 Spring) but it'll cost me to lose the last 3 defensive battles against the Aedui and Arverni.

Is there a more permanent way to work around these 'glitches'?

That post-battle CTD is rarely persistent, you should try to fight it out once more. Also, people are reporting that if you wait for 10-15 seconds before closing the battle summary it's less likely to crash. If it still crashes you'll have to auto_win it, but you won't have to go back in time I think.

Thanks Bovi! I'll give that one a try and let you know - hate those auto-resolve battles though - did that on one I'd won "in person" before a CTD, and the AI lost not only the battle but all three generals I had involved in it!

As I said, if you know you'll win it you can auto_win it.
