Grand Imams

When does an imam become a great imam? My understanding is that it was at 5 piety, but I've had several plain old regular imams with piety > 5 after I maxed out my theologians guild.

What is the benefit of becoming a great imam? Presumably can't fall into heresy like a cardinal?

I have never heard of grand imams.

Grand Imams do exist. If you start an Egyptian campaign in the Crusades campaign you start with one. Id like to know the answer to the opening posters questions to.

Yes, Great Imam do exist in the game. But it seems that they are only available at the start of the game.
Bonus for that title is unknown to me too.

I don't think there are any in M2TW. PriestLevel is exclusive to Christian priest units. Its possible though that extra code was added in Kingdoms to include Muslim ones.

In M2TW, they still become immune to heresy above 5 piety though, so its quite an advantage over Catholics.

Just throwing a theory out there:

Perhaps like Bishops, Great Imams can only be produced at the highest level Muslim buildings (and function exactly the same as a regular Imam, plus one piety)

Not in M2TW, and even not if you mod them to have PriestLevel.

Maybe in Kingdoms.

lol shows how much I know about Muslim factions. I'm a Catholic monger. My avatar and my recent Broken Crescent MP game are the only true instances where I've shown any interest in Muslim factions.

BTW this is in Kingdoms Crusades Campaing. Interesting theory pizzaguy. I'll go back and check their traits / add up piety from all the visible traits to see if there is an extra piety in there. I don't know what the muslim equivalent to a cathedral is, so i'll push my temples to the max to see if I start producing great imams (currently all the ones i have are from the start of the game).

Great Imam does not provide a visible trait, but does provide +1 piety. Building browser doesn't show great imam on Jama or Great Jama (highest 2 levels of mosque). I am about to finish building a Jama to see if I can make great imams.
