Good starter factions for an EB noob

Hi, I've just started playing EB and I'm very impressed, but also overwhelmed by the fact that I'm used to having a certain army composition for each faction and I can't do that in this mod, not to mention the economy. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which faction would be very noob-friendly out of the following along with any starting tips:Rome, Carthage, Epieros, Koinon Hellenon, Pontus, Baktria, Ptolemoi, Arch Seleukeia, and Makedonia.
