Thread: A map for the locations of trading ports
Puupertti Ruma 20:14 04-22-2008
While playing a campaign as the Lusotannan, I started to wonder where I should build what governments. Iberian peninsula is quite tricky place, as there are lots of regionals, even for the lusitanians. But, as the bigger ports need the more advanced goverments I started to look where in Iberia there are possibilities to build the better ports, and by accident I happened to make this:

The trading port locations:

It's done on 0.81 map (the one that is at EB website!) so it isn't pretty and many inland province borders are wrong and some settlement names, but it doesn't matter as I added Atiqa manually and the data is from 1.1.

I tried to add the naval ports to this map also, but I just couldn't find a satisfying color theme, so I settled with having at least the trading ports. I could try to make a map with both and maybe some other hidden resources also, if some friendly EB member could offer me the official templates of these cool maps Pretty please?

There's already a map of it in the Europa Barbarorum Maps thread just in case you didn't know. Here's the direct link to the post. https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...47&postcount=3

I was aware of it, but as you know it is almost two years old and dates from version 0.74 and has some outdated info in it. Nonetheless I was thinking of making a map that would combine both trade and military port info on to a same map, but I would have to get the colour theme just right and I don't feel it would be worth the effort if I didn't have the current maps as a template. I could also include other hidden resources in to that, like rivers and deserts and such.

So, would there be interest in that kind of a map? I'd be happy to help the team and other players by doing something like that, because, well I'm a map geek.

Thanks. I certainly would be interested in a hidden resource map.

BTW, if you wish I can send you a EB1.0 (plain) map. Just PM me with your e-mail adress. It's available for download somewhere, but I can't remember which thread it was in.

What's with that Gaetulia province in the middle of the Sahara?

I could send you the 1.0 map as well, and I have manually redrawn the province boundaries in Iberia for they were still from 0.8. You won't notice though. PM me if you're interested.

The map is (as stated) from version 0.80, and that time Gaetulia was going to be removed from EB. That's why it looks pretty weird. When they decided to change the arabia province to a desert, they could keep it.

Thanks I'll PM you in a little while. I just checked the EB 1.0 map preview and it has only the antiquated map, which while being neat, isn't very easy to work with. So plain map would be the thing I wan't.

What hidden resources do you people think I should include in my map? I have to warn you, it might take a while to do, as I kinda have to work and do other stuff.

As some of you may have noticed, Tellos Athenaios has posted a the hidden resource maps of EB 1.1 to the forum, which is of course great. Despite this, I am going to make my map too, as it will feature some eyecandy and will infact compine in to one map the information of seven of TA's maps! TA's maps are going to also help me make my map, as I don't have to mine the information myself, only just check from the ready made maps. On the other hand, the urgency of my map has vanished so I will be doing it when I have time and interest for it. That could take from anywhere to couple of days to couple of weeks.

:Edit: Thank you, Centurio Nixalsverdrus and Ludens, for providing me with the EB 1.1 plain maps.
