    hey guys, need help here.

    so the situation is....
    i'm on retrofit mod 1.3 and the magonel and all the other units from the kingdoms expansion makes the game a lot $%^%^% GREAT!
    especially the magonel. cant stop taking screenshots with the fireworks on direct hit on enemy. i got a few good shots. any1 care to trade?

    back to the point.
    i was so impressed with the addition of new units and wondered, how come the mercenaries are so restricted?
    i mean whats wrong about the greeks buying german mercs? they even have it as one of their trainable units , almanoi i think. or the spainish hiring african mercs? they do it in real life history anyway. i mean if u were to jihad london, it would be very practical a reality sense if u could actually hire a few scots since they hate the english that much. galliouach and caliverman mercs to be exact. i mean it brings new dimension to the game. swiss pikes in moorish stack or kwaziriam calvary with the catholics against the mongols. it makes sense to me but the game doesnt allow it. reality wise and fun wise its a thumbs up for me.

    so i did a little modding. went to the export desr unit file and took some time for me to understand all that gibberish. in the file there states a category call ownership and states the faction which can hire them. to all the mercs units, i wrote all the faction names into them. so anybody can hire anybody. plus in a matter of fairness i didnt change the crusading or jihad units. imagine crusader knights on a jihad to retake the holy land LOL.

    then i went desr merc file and changed which sides are able to hire them. islam or catholics or orthodox. i did away with the names of religions being able to hire which mercs. again i did not change the crusade or jihad restrictions.

    end result????
    i was very much elated to find i could hire any of the mercs in the custom battle options as any of the factions. Now i'm playing as the Moors <camel gunner stacks pawns anything> in imperial campaign and still not be able to get those mercs..... they still dont appear in mercenary box.....
    can any of you good looking almost all knowing modders help me out.
    im on the 1285 ad and i missed out on alot of mercs already....

    Custom battles: remove the no_custom attribute to make them show up after adding them to faction ownership.

    Campaign: Just edit descr_mercenaries. Needs a new game to take effect.
