On the Vista line of thinking, both STW and MTW start up really weird when I have other programs running and minimized. STW was the worst, I got graphical glitches, and both zip up and down from the taskbar while coming up. I had to stop UAC on Vista as well, the "interrupt" while it checks the program out (for your own good! ) broke a lot of older games.
